Fox News Martyrs Tim Tebow With Claims of Anti-Christian Media Bias
Fox News claimed today that the press is anti-Christian and Tim Tebow is being victimized by anti-Christian media bias.
Here is the video from Media Matters:
While talking about Tim Tebow and the media on Fox News Watch, Kristen Powers of The Daily Beast said, “The criticism won’t diminish because there is such an anti-Christian sentiment in the media. I don’t think it’s anti-religious because if he was Muslim it would probably be a problem, and the thing that’s the most troubling to me besides the fact that’s its bigotry is that the majority of this country is actually Christian, and a third of it is actually evangelical Christian, which is what Tim Tebow is. So why is he not allowed to express his faith? It’s just a strange criticism.”
The idea that the media is anti-Christian is laughable, but it is also widely held among the religious right. Christian conservatives like every other strain of conservatism really do believe that the liberal media is out to get them.
This is a convenient crutch to shield them from the reality that the American mainstream media is overtly pro- Christian, because the majority of the individuals in the media are Christians.
The media has bent over backwards to portray Tebow in the best possible light, because they are terrified of the howls of the Evangelicals. The sports media has avoided Tebow’s faith like the plague because they also do not want to incur the wrath of the Evangelicals, and they don’t want their sports discussions to get sidetracked into religion.
While Tebow is free to display his faith any way he wants as private citizen, if football fans want religion, they can watch The 700 Club. Some fans just want to watch a football game.
Tim Tebow also gets criticized because at this stage of his development, he is not a good quarterback. Tebow is a fine athlete who is succeeding based on athleticism and an offensive system that is a gimmick. Many fans are turned off on Tebow because they feel that the worship of him is irrational and unjustified.
Fox News is martyring Tim Tebow and making it sound like any criticism of his play is an attack on his faith. They are trying to bully the critics of Tebow into silence. The idea that the media is not pro-Christian enough is a threat to free speech. If criticism of Tim Tebow is off limits because of his faith, then what’s next?
There is no evidence of anti-Christian mainstream media bias, but Fox News provided plenty of evidence today pro-Christian media bullying is alive and well.

Ok, if Fox News is so christian like, why did they have Beck on, why do they now have Hannity, Doocy and Kilmeade who have no idea what telling the truth is?
Where is the religion boys?

Don’t you know that Beck and Hannity are our saviors? Well, there are a few others but those two are top dogs. Just watching Huckabee’s presidential forum. Perry’s answers were out of this world (funny really if it would not be serious). Michelle Bachman is on now while I am typing this so I have no idea what she is spewing out but I hear her droning voice in the background.
Most Democrats should be forced (I am kidding) to watch that Huckabee forum, because if people are upset with Obama, which I am, they could not possibly vote for those, those, those (I was trying to find the right name) clowns. Huntsman decided he did not want to be a clown and Cain already left the clown train with quite a bit of money.
Sorry, but just watching these people (attorney Generals, candidates, and Huckabee) is putting me into the stratosphere.

I have seen many pictures of Tim on the sideline praying. Are they complaining about that? Wouldn’t they complain louder if they didn’t show him praying. I think Tim is a fine young man and a pretty good QB. Fox is so full of themselves.

I find it a tad ironic to be taking religious commentary from a network that is morally bankrupt and lead by a serial misogynist and a buncha hillbilly kissing cousins that are fucking each other for money and fame. I don’t know who Tebow is, but I know FOX ain’t got no room to say a word on shit that’s holy. Pardon, but sometimes curse words is all I got for these honyoks.

According to my Bible, Tebow shouldn’t be making a public display of his Christianity. Jesus instructed Christians to avoid public displays of piety. It’s not as if Tebow couldn’t pray before entering the stadium’s field. It offends me that he doesn’t follow the scripture on this, and it irritates me because when I see his public displays of Christianity, I always wonder whether his faith is as strong as he wants others to believe that it is. I feel the same disgust when I see GOPers making Christianity their whore for political gain.

Hey Majii, according to my bible, you shouldnt be smoking and drinking in and getting drunk and having sex before marriage…. It says that your body is a temple…. It says do not lie, do not steal, obey your parents, do not murder, and that does not mean physically, it would be with words. Are you guilty of any of those??? I would like to say yes, have I committed those sins, yes cuz i am not perfect… Jesus was the example that we need to follow, and show me in the bible were it says that I cant profess my love for Christ in public… And if your going to bring up Matthew Chap 6, dont.. before you bring that up, read the whole chapter in whole, Jesus was talking about the phrassies and priests who did that in public to show people, hey look at me, i am praying i am close with god, they were being prideful.. Tebow on the other hand, was a christian from a young age and has never backed down on it…. he stands up for what he believes in…. He is being the example that Jesus wants us to be…..SO to me it seems that you are jealous for what he has and what you dont…..

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the Broncos should trade Tebow to Focus on the Family.

Isn’t it a sin in Christianity to pray in public?
Isn’t that a big no no with JC?

Maybe it’s time for us Christians WITH BRAINS to scream louder.

Tebow is the Religious Right’s savior. He will finish his career in football and slide effortlessly into politics. Watch for him to slide up the ladder of power and contend for the US presidency in the future. He has some years to accumulate the gaffes most people do, but he has been and is being groomed for this position.

The Evangelical cult need a charismatic or they can’t function; they have to groom their own particular brand of charlatans for their kind of belief system because the “real” thing cannot be obtained my natural or genuine behavior.
Evangelicals are nothing more than fake paranoids who are always afraid of “getting caught”. Their only reason to deify this particular male is because, this is their only ticket to being accepted as mainstream–the dream of all cults! The only thing they know how to do is “buy” their way to the top. They do it all the time; mega-churches, political movements, huge families…Fox News spreading their message is their ultimate goal, not universal Christ consciousness. It takes money to get ahead of the Catholic Church, don’t you know…that’s why they bully, shake down any and all who get in their way. They are nothing more than a cult and that’s all they’ve ever been the last 150 years.
Evangelicals have never, ever, EVER contributed anything of real value to society–what have they invented, or discovered, or created? Google their collective “accomplishments”, their “achievements” and all you’ll get is Billy Graham, that kid who stared in some 80′s sit-com… and this Tee-bowel guy who prays “kill-kill-blood-makes-the-grass-grow”.
The rest of their collective efforts are nothing more than isolated charismatic, Wal-mart quality cult pablum meant to keep the “believer” insular and behind their Evangelical Curtain.

The NFL hasn’t done anything against Tebow. The only real negative reaction was related to a pro-life video commercial (but that wasn’t the NFL).
Both you and Fox need to get over yourselves though. ESPN clearly hated on Tebow and most of the people on ESPN have now started to get behind Tebow. Fox is pretty late to the party. Fact is though that when all of this occurred, players (of all sports) came out to support Tebow just because the criticism was uncalled for. Tebox is an NFL quarterback and he is winning. Whether that translates to super bowls is to be determined.
You can hate on Fox all your want, but you’re being just as crazy as they are but in the opposite direction. That clearly looked like an opinion segment of people talking about things they have no idea about – sports.

Actually, Jesus said that if a person doesn’t acknowledge God while among people , neither will God acknowledge him in heaven. See Matthew 10:32 or Luke 12:8. I know what you’re saying but its false piety and fake praise that some Jewish leader were doing that Jesus was condemning.

“For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9
It is time to HONOR GOD!
No more wearing sportswear named after a demon… the pagan goddess Nike. God’s Word says that we are not to even mention that name! How can we dishonor God by wearing it???
Be completely God’s and His alone… and He will bless you.

I think you’re just a hair paranoid Charles. Is there someplace in the Bible it says not to mention the word Nike? Do you know the you go to hell for lying. go ahead and honor your God, but do it in your own basement
