Romney Blames Freeloaders Who Want Free Contraception and Obamacare for His Defeat
Romney’s parting shot proves that he meant the comments about the 47%.
In a conference call today with his national finance committee, Romney took refuge in his latest excuse for losing; Obama won because he gave “gifts” to African Americans, Hispanics, young people and women. Also, the race was “close” according to a vaguely confused Romney, suggesting that he really does have a tough time with math. 206-332 is not “close”.
We got more classic Romney with, “But in addition, with regards to Hispanic voters, the amnesty for children of illegals, the so-called Dream Act kids, was a huge plus for that voting group.” Showing that he really understands the Hispanic community by referring to “illegals”, eh? Why didn’t he win!? It must be Obama’s fault.
Romney said Obama used the “old playbook,” going after “especially the African-American community, the Hispanic community and young people” with gifts.
The “gifts” only continued, Romney explained, “In each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups. With regards to the young people, for instance, a forgiveness of college loan interest, was a big gift. Free contraceptives were very big with young college-aged women. And then, finally, Obamacare also made a difference for them, because as you know, anybody now 26 years of age and younger was now going to be part of their parents’ plan, and that was a big gift to young people. They turned out in large numbers; a larger share in this election even than in 2008.”
Showing how much he doesn’t get it, Mitt Romney claimed that his campaign was about “big issues” for everyone, while Obama won because of his “big effort on small things”; aka, “gifts” for what we can only assume are the lazy, illegal sluts of America, including amnesty for “illelgals”, contraception for women, and forgiveness on college loans.
These things are also known as policies that benefit the middle class and poor, and help make America the land of opportunity it is. But they are “gifts” in Romney-ese.
Yes, damn those people who voted for the person who looked after their interests. These programs, by the way, that even Romney admits save average Americans a lot of money, are “small things”, whereas his vague tax plan for the rich was a Big Idea. Never mind that doubling down on Bush’s tax cuts isn’t exactly a new or novel idea in the age of Grover Norquist.
Romney’s “gifts” to the 1% and offshore tax havens and subsidies are not seen as gifts by Republicans. And yet, that is exactly what they are. The problem is that Romney picked a very small group of people to represent, and those people have been trained by Fox et al to disdain the rest of America. It turns out, selling the rest of America the same trickle down lies didn’t fly as well when wrapped in contempt. Go figure — another fact that Romney can’t wrap his mind around.
Romney will never see that in smearing everyone who voted for Obama as a freeloader bribed by a “gift”, he again shows his contempt for average Americans. Romney’s tone suggests that privately he is cursing the “sluts” (per Rush Limbaugh, whom Romney never did manage to condemn) who voted for Obama to get their free contraceptives. The illegals, the welfare victims and the sluts elected the black Santa for the gifts. “Those people”, whom Romney assured his wealthy donors on the secret tape, will never vote for him because they are “victims” who feel entitled to things like food and healthcare.
Another shocker for Romney must have been that the “victims” who won’t vote for him are the majority of this country. Also, eight out of ten of the wealthiest counties in the country went for Obama.
Miserly, stingy Romney who wants the poor and middle class to pay for more jet fuel for the 1% can’t understand why you would vote for someone else, except that you tacky people were bribed by gifts. It surely couldn’t have been Romney’s failures.
First it was Sandy, then Christie, and now Santa Obama. Never Mitt Romney’s epic failure of a campaign, the fact that he had no tax plan and his foreign policy failures made the entire world nervous, his propensity to insult everyone he came into contact with including our allies, the “unmitigated disaster” of his ORCA app that was not properly tested, his lack of ground game, his failure to show his tax returns or show us the math, his contempt for half of America, his family’s brutish aura of entitlement, his consistent snobbery or close brushes with ethics and the law.
No, no, it was Santa’s fault. Santa ruined Romney’s $900 million play for the White House. Romney never had an idea for the country. He seemed, by most accounts, to be running because of his belief that he was entitled to be President. His ego combined with his inherent failures as a candidate cost around 900 million dollars. Who wants gifts again?
We will miss Mitt Romney and his singular talent of finding new ways of demonstrating his smug, supercilious sense of personal entitlement and disgust with the rest of America for failing to have been born to rich parents, as he had the good fortune to be.

Right, Mittens.
Instead, the President should have focused more on giving “gifts” to the people who really need it: the wealthiest 1% . . . right?

I would like to know where my “gifts” are if that is the case because I voted for Obama happily! Ohhhh yeah! I have the gift of knowing that my girls won’t have to fight for their reproductive rights at least for the next 4 years, and the gift of knowing that while MY President my have to compromise some it won’t be at the expense of the poor or elderly, ohhh and I have the gift of knowing that MY President (love him or hate him) has always put MY husband and all he gives up in service to the country on his list of things that are important. Yeup… I was bought… with respect.

Narcissist NEVER think they lose because of ANYTHING they did. Had to be something the other fella did.
Romney blames Obama for “winning because he gave stuff and things to people, i.e. OBAMA BOUGHT THEM>
Perhaps Romney needs to LOOK AT WHAT HE TRIED TO DO AND FAILED, I.E. TO BUY THIS ELECTION.
Looks to me like Romney IS THE ONE WHO GOT A LOT OF GIFTS I.E. WHAT WAS IT, OVER 300 MILLION FROM EDLESON ALONE/ AND HOW MUCH FROM THE KOCK BROTHERS?
Romney thinks Obama “bought” his votes because THAT IS WHAT ROMNEY TRIED TO DO AND FAILED.
A man who feels he has to “buy” his way through life cannot understand it when people “give” to someone they respect like when people vote for Obama.
What a pathetic lim*dic* Romney is.

I am so tired of hearing them using the welfare, gifts, and socialism as a point to people of color. When you repub give billion to oil companies, when you pay less for major companies and are able to hide money at will. 70% of American corp don’t pay taxes. The only reason why you have won over the years is that you convince whites that welfare meant black..when there are mo white on welfare that people of color.
it is becuase you have a black man in office and I hate it. You tried to send the alarm that now he is after the white women and it make you mad. Well they vote for him. The young vote for him..and get over it

This is beyond the pale. This corrupt cretin is unAmerican and a first order racist. He needs an intervention by the Justice Department to place him where he belongs for the rest of his pathetic life; in prison.
It’s bad enough he impugned 47% of the population in private, but he expanded the pot when he included women; he, and his party, will pay for that and I hope it is extremely long-lasting and painful.

Now just watch as the “rich” that you loathe so much that create all of the jobs in this country pull back. OMG, where did all the jobs go? OMG,where did all the revenue go? 5% of the population pays 80% of the taxes . . . That isn’t good enough for you?
Romney’s plan would have benefited job-seekers. Obama’s flat out kills jobs. A “rich guy” I know just cancelled his order for a $10MM jet. Yes, he will be fine, but what about all of the people that were going to make a living building it?
That’s just one example. Revenge may feel good in the short-term but then watch out when the boomerang comes back around. Once upon a time there was a country where everyone cheered success. No more.

At our most vigorous – just after WW II – tax rates were around 90% for top earners. Reagan lowered them to 35%. Where is the immense jump in our jobs if the taxes changed that much?
FoonTheElder
Nov. 15th, 2012 at 11:52 am
When you look at ALL taxes as a percentage of ALL income, the top 1% pay less than the next 19% and not much more than the 60% after that.
For example, someone in the top 1% averages over $1 million in ALL income and average 29.0% in ALL taxes. Someone making $68,700 per year averages 28.3% in ALL taxes.
Worse yet, the people in the bottom 20%, averaging $13,000 per year pay a higher average rate in all taxes than Mitt’s rate of federal income tax and social security tax.

Third, he is lying to keep his donors from putting a hit on him. Just look at the expression on his crooked face. Remind you of a recent ex Pres.? Bush II and Nixon come to mind. Also, since he said this, Obama should publicly denounce Romney for his disregard for the people of this country and to say his invite, if one was issued, is hereby rescinded until he apologizes to the people, tell them he lied to them all along, and release ten years of tax returns. Romney Danced with the Devil and Lost!
Romney did not need to go into the Roe v Wade issue. He scared many young, naïve American women.
His approach re: Hispanic issues was just plain stupid. He should have just gone out to speak to Hispanic audiences, in their native tongue, and, like Obama, told them anything they wanted to hear! Instead of trying to deport them. KISS…keep it simple stupid!
That 47% speech was stupid. You must consider that when running for public office, everything you say might be tape-recorded.

Romney should have attacked Obama re: his Columbia University fraud and the issue that the Saudis paid $23 million to get him into Harvard Law. I have not received any gifts. Yesterday was my birthday and still, no gift from the President! I voted for him. Heck, I’m from Illinois – I voted twice and my dead parents voted twice AND my three dogs voted, too (for the first time, I was so proud of them performing their civic duty). I’m severely in the negative here on the gift getting.
Then again, perhaps our gifts were not meant to be wrapped in colorful paper and tied with a pretty bow. Perhaps they were more useful gifts that we can appreciate every single day. Gifts whose allure does not fade away once the cake is gone, the balloons deflated, the decorations taken down.
No, I think the gifts people wanted and received centered more on being, for women, treated like we are intelligent enough to make our own decisions without interference from the government. A gift that lets the wealthy among us pay their fair share so that we all benefit and prosper as one. A gift that doesn’t treat immigrants like second class citizens but instead like productive, vital members of our society. Gifts that help us have clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. Roads and bridges that aren’t falling into disrepair. Citizens who can afford to get health care. Senior citizens who still have something to live on and soon-to-be seniors who don’t have to worry about being penniless in their old age.
These are gifts we might not think of every day. Gifts that we deserve not because we think we’re entitled to them, but simply because we are human beings and we really are all in this together.
Those are gifts of magnitude and I will, therefore, stop pining away for a pretty little package in my mailbox stamped “From the President of the 100%,” and instead focus on the joy of living in a society under a leader who actually respects me and thinks that, regardless of my gender, I’m a human being with rights that he will fight for me to keep.

Hey Shiva,
What the heck is buying power? Did you have buying power before Steve Jobs invented Apple? Or should we reward people for being innovative and taking risks?

Just as this fool doubled down on lies about Chrysler and Jeep in Ohio even when called on them by CEO’s, and doubled down on the $716 billion lie about Medicare after having the lie pointed out to him, he doubled down on insulting the people who rejected his second run at the presidency. Any doubts that he meant to show his contempt for almost half of the American population when he was caught making the 47% comment should now be put to rest after his bone-headed comment about “gifts.” Does he not know that we know he wanted to give his own “gifts” to his uber-wealthy benefactors if he had won? He is a total and complete fool who has absolutely no business in politics, and the GOP marginalization of him after his loss doesn’t alter the fact that he openly stated what they actually believe during his campaign.

All of Mitt Romney’s millions can buy his way into almost anything – except the will of the people.

Yep. Even an army of old-style frat-boy thugs ready to frighten old ladies and minorities at the polling places couldn’t stop this election. Nor could the un-American voter suppression.
All the GOP governors with their dictatorial tactics, which were NOT in the service of the Body Politic, could stop stop the historical election of Barack Obama for his SECOND term.
Kinda makes you wonder what the REAL vote would have been. We were wondering where we would go if Romney were elected. Those MF’s are Craaaaazy.
