Win or Lose Obama Declares He Will Never Run for Office Again
By: Jason EasleyJul. 10th, 2012more from Jason Easley
In Iowa today President Obama stated that whether he wins or loses in 2012, he will never run for office again.

Transcript from the White House
THE PRESIDENT: That’s a good choice. (Applause.)
This will be my last political campaign, no matter what. I’ve got nothing else to run for. (Laughter.) But it’s got — and because of that, you start feeling a little nostalgic and you start thinking about some of your first campaigns. I think about all the places I used to travel in Illinois and the first race I ran as a state senator. And Michelle and I had to Xerox or go to Kinko’s and copy our little flyers, and we didn’t have a TV budget back then. (Laughter.) And we rode around in my car and I filled it up with my gas — (laughter) — and I’m the one who got lost if I took a wrong turn. (Laughter.)
And what’s amazing, though, when I think about it was how many people you’d meet from every walk of life all across Illinois in big cities, small towns, upstate, downstate, quads, you name it. And you’d always hear similar stories from people about their parents or their grandparents and the struggles they had gone through, and how they had been able to find a job that paid a living wage and look after their families and their kids had done a little better than they did. And those stories would resonate with me and Michelle because that was our story, that was our lives.
And then when I came to Iowa for the presidential campaign — first stop, Cedar Rapids — (applause) — first stop.
Democrats and supporters of the president are so caught up in his reelection campaign that it may not have hit them yet that this will be the last opportunity they will ever have to vote for Barack Obama. It is interesting that even if there is a Florida 2000 like situation on Election Night, President Obama is already ruling out any talk of a future political comeback.
No matter when he leaves office, Obama will be a very young ex-president. The president will either be 51 or 55 years old when he steps out of the Oval Office for the final time. I suspect that the Obamas will return home to Chicago, where Barack Obama will write books and live a generally quiet life. (Obama’s memoir concerning his presidency will be a must read no matter when it is written.)
The odds are that this is only the beginning of the end for the Obama era, but even if the president wins reelection, this will be the start of a long goodbye. Four years from now, the Democratic Party will have a new nominee. It will be ushering in a new era of leadership, or I suspect the return of old leadership as the presence of Hillary Clinton will loom large over 2016.
A journey that started in 2004 will come to an end on Election Day in 2012. Never will Americans be able to vote for Obama again. The president may win reelection and accomplish much more, but this is the last time that voters will be able to send him back to the White House.
Before the chants of Yes We Can fade into the history books, voters will get one more opportunity to tell their children and grandchildren yes I did vote for Barack Obama.

Well if he loses, there won’t be an America to run for president of considering what the Republicans want will destroy this country. What the Republicans want is the complete destruction/subjugation of the non-rich to give everything to the rich (wealth, power, rights, etc). If there is an option that helps the non-rich, the Republicans will automatically oppose it, and Mitt Romney is no different. Mitt Romeny via his influence with Bain Capitol single handedly liquidated/looted/destroyed many buisnesses, and directly caused millions in unemployment both by direct job loss, and the ripple effect through the job markets. I made a video about unemployment, and how we can fix it. It’s at my YouTube channel Zarrakan, and here’s the link:

Watch it, share it, and join the fight against those who want to kill all of us with destructive social policies.

This is so sad to read, but I understand how the Obama’s feel. Bless them for all they have done for this nation and bless them in their future endeavors, no matter what it will be.

Seriously, what else do you run for after you;ve been President? Senator?
I do think it is a wise move though, to remind people that you have one more chance to make this country a better place, and we’d better not screw it up! Votes over money!

Well, if he lost in 2012 he could have run again in 2016.

My thoughts exactly. I would hope that if he were to be defeated in 2012, he could pull a Grover Cleveland and get back into the White House in 2016.

That’s assuming the republicans have not done away with general elections and just install all republicans into office every where. We would have little off shoots of ALEC in every state and county, with Romney just funneling the treasury to the Koch’s and Adelson, et al.

I hope that when he retires, he follows in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter. There is a president (retired) that I’ve come to really respect.
That, in fact, is what I expect of President Obama… that he will work for people and fight for them. I could see him become an elder statesman and help in dealing with bad situations around the world… maybe help in disasters.
Somehow, that’s the sort of person I think he is.

I’m sure that President Obama will continue to work with those in need after leaving office, much like Presidents Carter, Clinton and George H.W. Bush have done. He’ll command top dollar for his speeches which will leave him plenty of free time to do the type of work he’s been drawn to since he first graduated from college. Whatever President Obama chooses to do, I look forward to the day that he’s free from the idiots in Congress that he has to deal with on a regular basis. The positive impact of his accomplishments will be evaluated on a much more non-partisan basis in the years to come, giving him the respect he truly deserves.

Truly, if we do not succeed in returning him to the White House, only a Democratic sweep of both houses of Congress, and maybe of state houses as well, will keep this from being our last real election ever…or in all events, our last real election until the people can take back the franchise by force.
The various swastink tanks have floated ideas about reducing elections to a “pageant”. The Texas Republican Party has published an infamous platform, the most infamous plank of which is to outlaw the teaching of “critical thinking”. A number of people on this blog have reported being threatened with extermination when “they” take over, and I have been informed this isn’t Internet Tough Guy stuff. “They” have concrete plans to do it…most of all to those who have voiced “bad thoughts”.
We cannot let fear write the script. We must, however, know the worst and prepare for it…by not letting it happen.

I will miss President Obama and his family so much when they’re not in the White House.
I’ve learned so much about him, Michelle, and his Admin from reading The Obama Diary for daily activities and history in the making pics that the m$m would never provide for American citizens.
Here’s to FOUR MORE FOR FORTY FOUR! PBO has only just begun to wipe out the bush unproductive years. And, he’ll need a Senate and House, too!
Thx Jason!

If rmoney wins there will never be an election of the real ‘we the people” again. The repugs will finish off whatever rights people have in this country. This is the election that will determine if the US is run by the people or the rich corporate interests. If they can fool enough sheeple we are all totally screwed. And I really hope I am WRONG.

If they win, unless we can somehow escape the country or hide out, a lot of us are likely not to be voting because we will be dead. They don’t like people who disagree and who speak up about it. Besides LGBT folk and atheists (and if they think about it, pagans), liberals are high on their list of “undesirables to be removed”.
After all, in their words, we’re “Enemies of God”… even those who are Christian. Never mind that everything they stand for is in opposition to what Jesus Himself taught.

There will not be another one to compare in my lifetime. I was very young when JFK gave us hope for the future & almost 50 years older when President Obama revived that hope that we thought was lost. That he was elected once was beyond my dreams – but his honor and integrity show through – he shall do it again.

Romney cannot win in November – he would be an unmitigated disaster for anyone not in the 1%. It is imperative that Pres. Obama win re-election to not only stop Romney, but to show that you cannot buy the presidency. I know people say they all get corporate cash, etc., but I do not think there has been a candidate like Romney who is so clearly BUYING the Oval Office. We know who Romney would represent and it is not the middle class or the poor. The President’s overall philosophy is one of doing the most good for the most people – he represents ALL of us. Romney does not and will not.
It is sad to think this will be the President’s last campaign but I think he will do a lot of good in the world once he leaves office. Until then, we must get out there and vote and get our friends and family to vote. If we can return him to the Oval and give him a Democratically controlled Congress, then we will see a lot of positive changes in the country.

If Obama does not win we are totally screwed – a republican congress, also a total republican supreme
court, it does not bear thinking about it, it would mean goodbye health care, goodbye contraception/abortion, goodbye environmental protections, also goodbye medicare as we know it and
social security, all in the name of paying down the debt, while the rich will be getting all the breaks
to buy more mansions and stash the money overseas.
Of course there will always be money for war, as long as the rich kids don’t have to go, and education for the 99% will be for profit – Walmart style.

People, we can’t even think of not reelecting President Obama. At the rate that the state houses, supreme court, and congress are operating and being bought off by extreme right fanatics and billionaires, there won’t be a US left that has any democracy. I don’t understand why that’s not clear to the average American voter. How can they possibly believe that Mitt Romney cares anything about the people? We must rally beyond all this money that’s buying the US. People power can win. It is the only way. I’m sure President Obama will be the kind of statesman that we will cherish forever and his deeds will always be for the people. Vote Democratic across the board!

It is interesting that even if there is a Florida 2000 like situation on Election Night, President Obama is already ruling out any talk of a future political comeback.
This is a little too literal.
If Barack Obama loses in November, it will be either because some foreign situation spun out of control and had a major depressive impact on the US economy, or
because a few states’ electoral college votes were lost behind a popular vote victory for Obama.
If the second occurs, Obama only 54 in 2016 would lkely take Romney on a rematch.
Obama would win the rematch solidly running as he would be against the economic ruin Romney’s policies will bring us.

I expect everyone reading this to reach out and work for Obama’s re-election and for that effort to be successful.
After two terms as President, Barack Obama is unlikely to re-enter electoral politics.
After serving successfully as POTUS what appeal does the Senate or Chicago mayoralty hold?
But there is a larger question of what Mr. Obama, private citizen will do with the decades of active career activity ahead after 2016.
I predict that Mr. Obama will continue to lead the Democratic Party from a Mandela-like postion of elder statesmanship.
The combination of service as POTUS, abundant natural energy and time after that gurelling episode of his life will give Mr. Obama the credibility to remain a major influence in shaping the policy and leadership of the Democratic Party well into the 2030s.

I think thats a shame especially with all the calm and compsure he has shown, given the right baying for his destruction. He’s definately not an african american from the south………..But i am and i believe if…..IF……he lost and i got to meet and speak to him while Romney ran us into the ground, my last words to him would be “Grover Cleveland Mr. President”……..If you know your presidental history you’d understand why…………..

I see some of these reponses and it really saddens me about where we are as a country. “Well if he loses, there won’t be an America to run for president of considering what the Republicans want will destroy this country.” This is terrible so your view is that if someone has a different opinion of how to fix this country they are trying to destroy it. Now i consider myself a conservative but NOT a republican and it bothers me that we only have 2 choices at any given election Personally i am not comfortable with Romney or Obama as president but in the current system we are funneled into party lines. If your democrat you only speak on democrat talking points and the republicans are evil and if you are Republian vise versa. This is the system we currently support and Honestly Obama has only worked to harden party lines wasnt he suppose to unite congress and blurr party lines once again i dont believe Romney will do this but until the amrian people (me and you) start seeing ourselves this way and vote on the subjects and people not what party they are a part of this will never change.

Obama should have never won in 2008. He has worked very hard to destroy our great nation with the strong support of the destroyer of countries economies-the evil George Soros. I pray Obama loses and I never have to hear or see him again. Either he has all of you people snowed, or you are asleep-which one could it be? I pray we will be saying adios Obama very soon, or else he will finish destroying this country-again with the support of ole evil George and his cohorts.

Its very unlikely that Obama will win re-election at this point. He has nothing to run on to distinguish himself from Romney and the only thing he can run on is bated by a majority of Americans…
