George Zimmerman’s Father Makes Trayvon Martin Case Racial by Blaming Obama
In a local television interview, George Zimmerman’s father accused President Obama, the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP of spreading hate.
Here is the video of Robert Zimmerman:
Robert Zimmerman said, “I never foresaw so much hate coming from the president, the Congressional Black Caucus, the NAACP, every organization imaginable is trying to get notoriety and profit from this in some way, but there’s so much hate. I’ve never been involved in hate, and George hasn’t, and it’s really unbelievable.”
Here is President Obama’s “hateful” statement about George Zimmerman,
Well, I’m the head of the executive branch, and the attorney general reports to me, so I’ve got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we’re not impairing any investigation that’s taking place right now.
But obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together – federal, state and local – to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.
So I’m glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what’s taking place. I think all of us have to do some soul-searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.
But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
In Obama’s comments, I see an expression of sympathy for the victim’s parents, and call for people to come together and figure out what happened. George Zimmerman’s name has never been mentioned by the president. In fact, President Obama was careful not to mention Zimmerman at all.
As far as George Zimmerman not being involved in hate goes, I suppose being accused of domestic violence and having a restraining order taken out against him doesn’t qualify as hate in his father’s mind. I guess being accused of battering a police officer in 2006, as George Zimmerman was, isn’t a hateful act either.
The only person spreading hate and racism here is Robert Zimmerman. The ACLU testified in front of a congressional forum on the Trayvon Martin case, but they weren’t mentioned. Thousands of white people have been participating in protests about this case, but they also weren’t accused of spreading hate. White television and radio hosts and guests have been calling for investigation, but Robert Zimmerman didn’t blame them.
In Robert Zimmerman’s mind, it appears that it is only the African-Americans who are spreading hate. If the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, it is easy to see the mindset of George Zimmerman. Both father and son seem to sincerely believe that George Zimmerman was defending himself because they felt hate and fear towards an unarmed African American teenager.
Robert Zimmerman’s statements were blaming African-Americans and taking no responsibility for his son’s actions. It wasn’t the NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus, or President Obama who killed Trayvon Martin. It was George Zimmerman who made the decision to pull that trigger and fatally shoot a teenager.
The truth is that George Zimmerman’s version of events has been discredited by a police surveillance video that contradicts Zimmerman’s claims of injuries and self defense. Robert Zimmerman repeated his claims on his son’s behalf again, and it is looking like both Zimmermans may believe that shooting African-Americans who they feel threatened by is self defense.
Robert Zimmerman repeating his son’s version of the shooting:
George Zimmerman’s father’s comments are big red flashing hint that race played a role in this case. Racism is the refuge of the self-pitying, weak coward and Robert Zimmerman showed his political motivations by blaming President Obama.
