According to television station KITV, Rush Limbaugh rushed to the hospital today, and is currently listed in serious condition after complaining of chest pains while vacationing in Hawaii. It is only a matter of time until Limbaugh and his followers blame Obama for his possibly troubled ticker.
Republicans like Rep Pete Hoekstra are expressing their shock and outrage because they believes that President Obama should have been more Republican in his response to an attempted terror attack. He should have been more like George W. Bush who waited six days to answer questions about the foiled shoe bomber attack.
Somebody at CNN's Larry King Live thought that it would be a great idea to put Ben Stein and Rep. Ron Paul on the same panel to discuss terrorism, and what occurred was a microcosm of the current GOP civil war, with Paul absolutely schooling Stein on how neo-con policies help to create terrorists.
As he continues to hold up the confirmation of Obama's TSA administrator appointee Errol Southers, Jim DeMint should be ashamed that he put politics over Americans’ safety. And not just Americans' safety; there were people from all over the world on that flight. He owes America an apology.
2009 began with the inauguration of our new and first African American President, Barack Obama, and became the year that GOP and the Extreme Right Wing of the party became energized and very proactive in its goal to be destructive to our new President and his administration and policies by any means necessary.
The failed attempt at a terrorist attack in Detroit over the weekend has caused Republicans to revive their claims that Democrats are weak on national security. On CNN's State of the Union today Mary Matalin claimed that George W. Bush inherited 9/11 from Bill Clinton, even though 9/11 happened 8 months after Bush took office.
Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was on NBC's Meet The Press today, and he gave the strongest indication yet that the GOP strategy for 2010 and 2012 is to run against the healthcare bill. He said, "I suspect every Republican running in '10 and again in '12 will run on an absolute pledge to repeal this bill."
We have done it. We corralled a dispirited Democratic caucus, fought a rabid right wing media machine, overcame our own ennui, to arrive here. At the beginning of a great moment in American history. Landmark moment. We will all be able to tell our grand kids that we were a part of this. And they won't understand how this great country could have ever let her people suffer and die due to lack of healthcare.
A Waycross, Georgia Teabagger called C-Span yesterday morning, very concerned that the prayers Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) urged all Teabaggers to make that a member of the Democratic caucus would die and/or not show up for the vote may have backfired and instead killed Republican Senator James Inhofe.
Joshua Bowman, a Republican who worked for the executive office of Bush Administration on tech issues, was arrested last September with two guns and hundreds of rounds of ammo near the Capitol during an Obama speech. Though his arrest was widely reported, his connection to the Bush administration was not reported at that time and has just come to light this morning, courtesy of Mother Jones.
In just a few short days Santa will be delivering presents to the nice and coal to the naughty. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at Santa’s list to see what some of America’s top political figures can be expecting for Christmas. There will be some surprises under the tree for Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin and others.
While Palin has refused to allow any media to ask her questions on her "book" tour, and now she's laid down the new law and is not even allowing her fellow Alaskans inside the venue where she held her last book signing in Alaska. She had the local bloggers/media identified by pictures, and on a "Banned" list, enforced by local police.
Just days after Politifiact named Palin and her "Death Panels" the Lie of the Year in 2009, cynical Sarah drags out her tired, tattered, and repeatedly debunked death panels lie for one more spin in the political game some of us call our lives.
In a stunning turn of events, Fox News has been running a holiday greeting commercial that does not say Merry Christmas, but instead wishes everyone Happy Holidays. Could there be any greater sign of their surrender in the war on Christmas than Fox News airing a spot that wishes viewers Happy Holidays?
Sarah Palin Tweets Santa in desperate bid to regain power and set Christian World right again. And threatens God, too, "Plz don’t give any toys 2 minorities. They already took my crown twice. Pointy-headed elites worry 2much. If God cared about planet, he wouldn’t be ending it in 2012. Duh."
You can call it a teaser for Countdown's whack job of the year special, but if anyone needed a recap of the wild year that Sarah Palin had, the program delivered it tonight. The one thing you'll probably notice about Palin's year is that she quit her job, fought with the media, sold books, and did nothing productive in 2009.
On FNC's America's Newsroom today, reporter Greg Palkot was delivering a report on how the recent winter weather in Europe is causing travel problems, when he added, "A pre winter storm like Europe hasn't seen in years, forget about all that global warming talk."
