Limbaugh Takes Offense to the Media Praising a Half Black Half White Man

On Friday, Rush Limbaugh told the Jews to get over the Holocaust. He followed this up on his Monday show by claiming that it is offensive to millions of people that a member of the media refers to a half black half white human being as a God. Rush has moved from anti-Semitism to full blown racism.

Here is the audio from Media Matters:

Limbaugh said, “It is offensive to the sensibilities of millions of people to hear a member of the state run media refer to a half black half white human being with no experience running anything of substance referred to as a god. He may be president of the United States, but he is not a god.” Rush also said that he intended people to focus on the fact that he is half black half white. He was only trying to emphasize Obama’s humanity.

Limbaugh needs to realize that there are many ways to refer to a president’s humanity outside of race, but he chose that one because that is how much of his audience views Obama. Secondly, I disagree with Evan Thomas and his description of Obama as above the country in a god like manner. This is an example of praise gone too far.

I see Obama as a man who is doing nothing more than trying to lead the county in a new direction after the Bush years. This nation has had so many years of bitter partisan divide that I think it is easy for someone live Evan Thomas to overestimate the role and power of Obama. Thomas is only upping the expectations for Obama with his over the top praise.

Limbaugh is wrong if he thinks that people are blinded by Obama worship. The truth is that a majority of the country agrees with Obama’s policies, but since Limbaugh can never accept this as a valid reason, blame is placed on blind Obama worship. It is true that some people look to Obama to do too much, but I don’t a see or hear a ton of blind devotion to Obama out there since he took office.

If anything much of the left grumbles about Obama, because they don’t think that he is doing enough on particular issues, and I think that the American people are a lot smarter than Rush Limbaugh gives them credit for being. They know that Obama isn’t going to bring world peace, but they like the change that he has brought.

There was no need for the racial element to be brought into play by Limbaugh. He extreme right wing views represent what is left of the GOP. Limbaugh’s hypocrisy was once again in full display. This is a man who calls Sonia Sotomayor a racist, but who never misses a chance to state that Obama is half black. It makes you wonder who is the real racist, Limbaugh or Sotomayor?

  2. I don’t think he knows how much damage he does to the Republican party. They are single-handily destroying their own party because they don’t know when to shut up. It is really kind of funny to listen to them destroy the thing they are trying to hold onto. I am not a Republican, but I am neither a Democrat either. So watching the Republican party go down in flames is pretty funny.

But I can understand how angry he is about people comparing Obama to a God. Obama is NOT a good President. People have a high opinion of him, but if you look at his policies and actions while in the White House, you can see how awful of a President he actually is. Obama, like Bush, have no business being in the White House. They both lacked experience and common sense. Unfortunately, though, you can’t criticize Obama without being called a racist. Obama is really really bad, and a complete liar on top of that.

  3. In response to another reader’s comments, I propose that Obama is in fact an excellent president, and his actions thus far are largely reflective of that fact. While no one is perfect, for the most part Barack has taken our nation in a direction far preferable to the disastrous route we traveled on during the Bush years.

  4. Rush Limbaugh is the living embodiment of all that is wrong with the contemporary Republican part. His racist, elitist, arrogant rants are reflective of exactly the kind of negative extremist philosophy which is destroying the Republican party. As a Democrat, it pleases me to see the opposing party going down in self-ignited flames. But as an American it saddens me to think that this man is representative of the views of my fellow citizens.

  5. The !right wing & republicans have been calling him “the savior” (with sarcasm implied) since before he was elected.

Up until this incident I have not heard any moderate, centrist or democrat call him any such thing.

How is it that Limbaugh was not offended when his friends were doing that?
