Palin’ s Magic Math Debunked

Remember how Bailin’ Palin was quittin’ to save Alaskans money from all the “Political operatives (who) descended on Alaska” and charged all those mean, pesky ethics complaints against Her Royal Self?

Well….She Who Will Lie (to a lazy press) claimed it cost 2 million dollars to process those frivolous lawsuits. Man, what a waste of resources that could have gone to “soldiers” “fire fighters” and “teachers”!

Never mind that soldiers are paid through federal money, and Palin never wanted money for fire fighters or teachers before and in fact turned down stimulus money intended to help shore up those fungibles…oops, I did it again.

Hard not to fall into Palinese when writing about the Queen Quitter.

Where was I? Oh, right. Debunking today’s latest lie.

So, those “political operatives” who descended on Alaska and hounded her with ethics complaints? Yeah, those were actually her constituents. Many of whom are Republicans and conservatives.

Constituents. You know, the people? Aka, “political operatives”! I kinda like how all of her statements would make a good logline. She’s got her finger on the pulse of the narrative! Rove must be proud.

So now we have the 2 million dollars in cost to the state of Alaska to process the “frivolous” ethics complaints; aka, the process whereby citizens hold their elected officials accountable.

It seems Palin’s new spokesperson didn’t get the memo yet about how to actually perform his duties as Palin’s spokesperson. I am assuming telling the truth is a no go. Oops. Poor Murrow:

“But Murrow, the spokesperson, acknowledged to our reporter, Amanda Erickson, that this total was arrived at by adding up attorney hours spent on fending off complaints — based on the fixed salaries of lawyers….

The Anchorage Daily News did a thorough analysis and backed up the spokesperson. The ethics complaints took up time that staff could have spent doing other work, but they did not cost Alaska any money.

“Is it a check that we wrote, no, but is it staff hours, yes,” Sharon Leighow, spokeswoman for Palin, said of the expenses related to state employee work.

Those state employees would have been paid regardless.

A large chunk of that work went into the personnel board “Troopergate” investigation, which Palin herself initiated on the grounds that a legislation investigation was politicized. Only three of the ethics complaints are still pending, a fact that makes Palin’s explanation seem even less sensible.”

Another Palin statement, another day and a half spent debunking it.

What a waste of state, federal, and personal resources.

*Aside: In the spirit of “progressing” our nation forward and stuff, here’s a shout out to the (msm) fourth estate, who reported all of this without comment and apparently failed to do some basic fact-checking! Go Liberal Elites! Luckily, the evil liberal pajama-clad bloggers who may soon be sued were on the job; they were the first to break down the pie chart of lies.
