Republican Lynch Mobs Try to Destroy Healthcare Reform

What’s this I hear about Republicans tryin’ to kill progress? Haven’t they heard that progress is now a verb, ala Sarah Palin? Don’t they want to progress this great continent? Sadly, it seems the Republicans got off the progress bus and onto the propaganda bus. And we all know that propaganda isn’t American and it most certainly isn’t Republican/Fox News.

A leaked memo reveals what’s behind the crazies claiming “they don’t want no socialized medicine” at recent Town Halls. Republicans are coordinating an assault and harassment campaign of Democratic leaders’ Town Hall meetings in an effort to kill Health Care Reform and fool lawmakers into believing there is wide-spread opposition to the notion of human beings in a civilized nation being given access to health care.

The right wing is working (paid for by your tax dollars) with lobbyist-run groups Freedom Works (of Teabagging Infamy) and Americans for Prosperity (Orwellian names, no?) in their national socialist style effort to kill health care reform. Yes, they’re even busing people in to the Town Hall meetings, giving them Machiavellian War Tactics to follow. Heck, maybe the C-Street guys were right about Hitler being a good role model, ‘cuz this crap would surely do Hitler proud, and we all know what a great proponent of democracy Hitler was:

“– Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.”

– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”

-Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions”

NRCC, National Republican Congressional Committee, has endorsed these tactics and proudly crowed the days of civil town halls are now “over.”” I can only assume the NRCC also endorses the use of the pronoun “him” in reference to all of our representatives. I’m sure we can forgive the good old boys who brought us glass shoe breaking Sarah Palin as the New Face of Patriarchal Power (er, “Feminism”) for this teeny, tiny oversight in what amounts to a gross misuse of their power.

Why did the Republicans feel a need to draft a memo telling their paid workers that they should rattle the Democrats to “make sure there is no intelligent debate”? I should think by now the Democrats, indeed, the nation, are well aware of the inability of the Republicans to engage in an intelligent debate. No need to rattle us, peeps. We done plenty rattled after 8 years of the synthetic cowboy and his posse.

While the days of civilized town hall meetings are over, the days of the Republican Clown Show are clearly not even close to over. Get thee patriotic self to a town hall near theeself soon, take pictures of the Propaganda People, and speak up for your rights. Oh, and you might want to leave your flag pin at home, lest you be mistaken for a authoritarian nationalist trying to overthrow democracy. Jusy sayin’.

A few LTTE about the Republicans adoration for the good old days, you know, before the Revolutionary War, wouldn’t hurt, either. Oh how the Republicans long for the good old days, back when you and I didn’t have – and weren’t even entitled to complain about it — representation. When the privileged could just do whatever they wanted and tax us without even listening to how we think our tax dollars should be spent.

Sometimes, when you love someone, you just have to say no; we wouldn’t want another WMD on the Republican’s already blood-stained hands and I doubt the MSM will be reporting any of these distasteful facts. So, it falls to you, again, my fellow patriot.

A good American’s work is never done, it seems.

  1. Ok, so I’ll “confess.” I am a life-long, conservative, hidebound, Republican who voted for Reagan in 1980 and every other Republican nominee since. But just for fun, let’s play a mind game. Let’s assume that I am an intelligent, but badly misinformed individual who could learn a thing or two about Democrats, democracy and, perhaps, the policies of this Administration. In a cursory review of the above, I have been called:

    –belligerent crazies

–hostile, rude, misinformed, racist bigots clutching their bibles

    –misinformed Fox viewers/Bush voters

–You’re either crazy or you’re voting Democratic or green or some other third party

I suspect that a more thorough review of the above would provide still more examples. But I think this is enough to make my point. (By the way, before the screaming starts, I note with equal disdain the comments of conservative posters calling you “liberal idiots” and the like. But I leave you to your own defense.)

My question is this: If your goal is to convince me that I am wrong, why should I listen to you? Tell me the last time someone convinced you that you were mistaken by insulting you and your intelligence? The level of discourse here (and elsewhere) is disgraceful.

I am not evil. I am not stupid. I am not a Nazi, KKK member, racist, sexist, homophobe, or any other damn thing. I am intelligent and very well educated. I am thoughtful, reasoned, critical and careful. But I am also willing to be educated further. In my life, I have been wrong many more times than I have been right. (Has it ever occurred to some of you that you might be wrong? That your well intentioned beliefs have unintended adverse consequences?) Some of you have taken the time to make legitimate arguments. I would be glad to join the fray. But why should I? I neither wish to be a target of your insults, nor to sharpen my own wit and direct it at you.

Insults are beneath you. At least they should be. Enter the discussion in a respectful way and you will receive respectful responses. You might even find that you change some minds. Most of us are looking to have the greatest possible country. There may be more roads to this result than either of us imagine.

    I hope we can improve.

  2. hostile, rude, misinformed, racist bigots clutching their bibles and screeching about birth certificates, muslims, and naked mothers.

  3. The fact is people don’t want THIS government health care takeover. I know facts get in the way, but that’s reality.

  4. The same people who elected Obama and the dems just so they could do this? the majority?

The “people” who don’t want this are the misinformed Fox viewers/Bush voters.

We’re evolving past them, slowly but surely.

  5. I see so much hate against those who choose to protest against the state. When I was protesting against the state the last 8 years the left was with me. Now that they have gained power they turn. Republicans and Democrats are nothing more than statist hypocrites.

I protested the war, and I still protest actions of the American Empire. I will stick with my anti-statist ethics and not define morality by my fraternal order of Dor R.

  6. I would never vote for any Republican like Palin, but I will remain active opposing the state. Why are you statists so convinced it it the GOP who opposes your patriarchy?

Liberty will be attractive over the tyranny of the state. Face it. People want freedom not oppression, wars, and force of the state.

  7. Many people claim to be neither Republican or Democrat, and then proceed to conflate the two as equally guilty of being corporate whores, a false comparison which serves the Republicans quite nicely.

Of course, one needn’t pick a side, as there really isn’t much of a choice at this point. You’re either crazy or you’re voting Democratic or green or some other third party. Could the system be better? Of course. Corporations have been placed ahead of citizens in this country. Many of us have been fighting to reverse that — and step one was cleaning out the Republicans, with their clear corporate allegiance. There are many steps ahead of us on this journey.

A little more than two-tenths of 1 percent of American corporate and business assets have been nationalized by the U.S. government under the Obama administration.

To refer to that as statism is a stretch.

Using the term morality in the same sentence as Republican was brave of you. I believe it’s the Republicans (who claim to be for small government) who want to legislate morality, not Democrats. And Republicans who claim to own the “moral majority” and use their bibles as weapons of mass distraction.

We can’t have democracy if paid political operatives are being used by corporations to stop our ability to interact with our elected officials. It’s thuggery and straight out of the play book of the Nazis, and I mean that literally, as I was just reading Nazi notes regarding the political strategy of disrupting town halls.

“(Hitler)..used the paramilitary arm of the Nazi Party, the SA, to attack opposition groups and disrupt their meetings. He wasn’t above using intimidation. But he was also able to convince different groups, from bankers to labor unions to industrialists to former soldiers that he could offer them what they wanted.”

Freedom of speech is a two way street; freedom lovers or patriots do not deny others their freedom of speech by planing to shout over them. The civil exchange of differing ideas is a mark of a functioning democracy — an idea I know is both foreign and repugnant to tea baggers everywhere, even as they claim to be standing up for “their country”. Mob rule of angry, misinformed Poujadists is not “freedom” from the feds.

noun; a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small groups; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities.

Just sayin’. Threats of violence don’t have a place in politics.

I suggest that in order to get rid of these operatives being bused in, we require long form birth certificates from all participants, coordinating with a piece of mail with their proper, local address and name on it. Copies of birth certificates will not be accepted:-) Or perhaps we should reinstate Bus’s “freedom of speech zones”?

    Boy, those were the days.

  8. I am a Democrat, I am not paid, The American People have had enough, we are through siting on our asses complaining, Elected Official work for US! not Unions
    friends and Lobbyist.

  9. >>hostile, rude, misinformed, racist bigots clutching their bibles and screeching about birth certificates, muslims, and naked mothers.

    oh, you mean Republicans.

  10. Now you’re concerned about “facts” and “reality?”

Did you bitch and moan about that in the last eight years?

  11. unions?

wow…you bash unions but leave off corporations and crazy rapture seekers?

please, if you’re gonna pretend to be a democrat, do a better job.

  12. * Millions of workers don’t have the opportunity to get health coverage. A third of firms in the U.S. did not offer coverage in 2007.4
    * Nearly two-fifths (38 percent) of all workers are employed in smaller businesses, where less than two-thirds of firms now offer health benefits to their employees.7 It is estimated that 266,000 companies dropped their health coverage between 2000-2005 and 90 percent of those firms have less than 25 employees.
    * Rapidly rising health insurance premiums are the main reason cited by all small firms for not offering coverage. Health insurance premiums are rising at extraordinary rates. The average annual increase in inflation has been 2.5 percent while health insurance premiums for small firms have escalated an average of 12 percent annually.4
    * Even if employees are offered coverage on the job, they can’t always afford their portion of the premium. Employee spending for health insurance coverage (employee’s share of family coverage) has increased 120 percent between 2000 and 2006.8
    * Losing a job, or quitting voluntarily, can mean losing affordable coverage – not only for the worker but also for their entire family. Only seven (7) percent of the unemployed can afford to pay for COBRA health insurance – the continuation of group coverage offered by their former employers. Premiums for this coverage average almost $700 a month for family coverage and $250 for individual coverage, a very high price given the average $1,100 monthly unemployment check.9
    * Coverage is unstable during life’s transitions. A person’s link to employer-sponsored coverage can also be cut by a change from full-time to pat-time.

  13. You libs just don’t like it when the conservatives use a page from your own playbook. What about Code Pink or Cindy Sheehan? This is all BS. The conservatives have every much of a right to express their opposition to Obama’s agenda as the libs had to express their opposition to Bush’s policies. So, to belittle the cause and attempt to discredit the movement is exposing the ugly double standard. The left in this country needs to watch where they step. There are turds all over this field!

  14. Code Pink were not paid or organized by corporate lobbyists.

    See the difference?

It’s called astroturfing and it works against our democracy, where our elected representatives represent HUMAN BEINGS, NOT CORPORATIONS.

This is a FACT. Your feelings do not change the FACT that Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan acted from their hearts and minds, “of the people, for the people and by the people”. Your “opinion”, which is now disproved by facts, that this is just conservatives doing what liberals like Code Pink were doing is wrong.

This is Freedom Works and other corporate lobbyists companies run by Dick Armey and Jack Abrmamoff (I can not believe anyone would be defending these guys! ) busing out stooges to speak for corporations.

Since I’m sure conservatives call themselves patriots, they might want to read up on how things are supposed to work in a democracy such as this one. Furthermore, Bush never allowed anyone into his speaking events without an invitation after being vetted. I guess you are suggesting we do it that way, and bring back his “Free Speech Zones”????

First amendment took a beatin’, but hey, we gotta protect the WMD liars from the people protesting a war based on lies. Cuz that’s democracy.

But if the “conservatives” (corporate shrills, er, shills) are going to continue getting violent, perhaps we shall need to invoke the consideration of the W administration.

Maybe all dissent will be declared illegal, eh? Or maybe we’ll stick the Dixie Chicks on anyone who doesn’t agree. How ’bout that? How ’bout if you say something against this president or his administration in a “time of war” you are not an American? Yeah, is it all coming back to you now??

What exactly do conservatives stand for, anyway? And I mean in a manifested way; therefor, “small government” can’t be included, and “fiscal conservatism” is out, and “family values” are so far gone it’s not even funny….

What exactly is it that you’d say these folks are protesting? I don’t recall any of them protesting the cost of the war that Bush HID in a separate line item on the budget so it would not be included. Naw, he figured he’d just borrow that money from China, and not a peep from the so called “tea baggers” then.

  15. The government wants to extend it’s control over your life with draconian measures buried in the health care pill. To point this out is patriotic, and doesn’t mean you have anything to do with Insurance companies except as a customer. Universal Health care is universal health control. As for the use of the term lynching, the only actual lynching parties were mostly done by DEMOCRATS who until 1964 actually opposed anti lynching laws. Marxists on the left lie about racism among Republicans in order to froth up anger and misrepresent their history. Insurance Companies have been picking up the slack for decades every time Medicare cuts benefits. Now they are the convenient villians of the cynical left that can’t wait to get control of health care so they can have control of you. Suckers.

  16. Hey liberals, get it through your head. We are NOT a democracy, and corporations are made up of people too, and they have legal standing in the law. Corporations HIRE PEOPLE idiots. Corporations pay or at least collect taxes. Corporations represent collected genius and capital in an effort to build wealth. They are not fundamentally evil, and you cannot limit their ability to lobby without limiting your own. It is a Constitutional guarantee. If a corporation can lobby, so can a populist grievance group. You cannot limit the righs of one without limiting the rights of the other. Democracy is mob rule, not government. Democracy is the ally of the tyrant looking to come to power. Every time a liberal calls our system a democracy, someone should send them back to school. and this time give them real text books, not marxist revisionist tomes.

  17. Code pink and Cindy Sheehan received financial aid from Marxist front groups. To imply that they are all little old ladies spending their knitting money to get to Congress to stand up in hearings and get arrested is naive and moronic. Marxists take money from George Soros and then hypocritically declare all corporate money “evil”. It is a smokescreen and a big lie. Marxism is not an enhancer of liberty. Never has been. It is the idea that theft is historical and can only be remedied by theft.

  18. I guess according to the statists, only liberals can lawfully coordinate their efforts to get their message across. Those who oppose the statists must turn in their computers, their cell phones and their automobiles and their money. Only the statists can use modern organizing techniques because they serve “the people”. That term has been used by every emerging tyranny since Marx.

  19. You imply that the healthcare system is the only corporate business we have in the USA. Surely you don’t believe this.

See, we have a lot of other businesses here whose ability to turn a profit is roundly supported by the American tax payer, in the form of billions of dollars of bail out money — just for example.

Just because “liberal filth” (I guess civil debate is out, eh?), and indeed, the majority of the country, want public health care does not necessarily mean that they are anti-corporation. To disingenuously conflate the two is a straw-man argument. But enough of civil discourse! Clearly that’s not what you’re here for!

As for “Marxism” being taught in schools, well, gee, is there a special place we can go to get de-Marxized? I’m worried, I tell ya’! Just where do you conservatives go, if not evil schools, to be educated, since I hear the Re-Education camp program was de-railed as being too socialist, relying as it did upon made up jobs and the like.

Let me cut to the meat of the thing. Did Jesus really ride a dinosaur? And if so, were they really vertical back then? That’s what I hear the majority of conservatives believe now, and I’d like to have it verified so’s I can chat with my liberal filth friends about the non-fact of evolution, et al.

As for this not being a democracy, mob rule, etc — at least we agree on this. Can you talk to your people and ask them to stop harassing citizens who pay to go to Town Hall meetings so they can speak with their elected representatives? Oh, and if they could stop threatening the lawmakers as well, that would be great. Then we can get right back to being a Democratic Republic of civilized debate. Feel better?

  20. BY NOW, EVERY DECENT AMERICAN with conservative views and a education has LEFT the evil pathetic dying GOP in DISGUST,because NOW as a SOUTHERN REGIONAL NAZI RACIST party ,the GOP BASE is NOW limited only to NAZIs, KKK, right wing MILITIA, GUN NUT psychopaths, INBREDS, TRAILER TRASH, TEABAGGERS, BIRTHERS, SECESSIONISTS, and other evil ASSORTED HUMAN WASTE MATTER ..

  21. Attend the Town Hall meetings and video these out of control nutters. Then post the videos all over the internet, showing, once again, how the lunatic fringe is behaving.

  22. You mean people are still peddling this crap? You still have not retracted this article, even after it has been shown that the memo did not say what is claimed and comes from an individual not affiliated with the organisations claimed?

This whole post is a lie from start to finish!

  23. We first heard from the birthers, with their fake “birth certificate” in hand and with their fake outrage. These are the same under tones that you saw from Republicans during the confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor, “you are not like us” or “you are too different”, “you are not main stream”. And then they act surprised when people do not vote with them, they are lost, no core beliefs, too bad.

In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while at the same time trying to take away their rights) and that’s who they need to focus on if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

It’s funny we hear Republicans say that they do not want “faceless bureaucrats” making medical decisions but they have no problem with “private sector” “faceless bureaucrats” daily declining medical coverage and financially ruining good hard working people. And who says that the “private sector” is always right, do we forget failures like Long-Term Capital, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Enron, Tyco, AIG and Lehman Brothers. Of course the federal government will destroy heathcare by getting involved, Oh but wait our military men and women and the Senate and Congress get the best heathcare in the world, and oh, that’s right, its run by our federal government. I can understand why some may think that the federal government will fail, if you look at the past eight years as a current history, with failures like the financial meltdown, Katrina, and the Walter Reed Scandal but the facts is they can and if we support them they will succeed.

  24. obviously you think we have great health care in this country? Have you ever been denied your coverage because you had a pre existing condition? Do you realize that it costs 3 times as much for cobra if you lose your job? Do you realize that Medicare/medicaid, is socialized medicine? Get your facts right before posting!

  25. This is so much bologna. People simply want the truth. Now, I realize that is a difficult request for Democrats to handle as they have not yet figured out what is truth. God-ama in the White House would not know the truth if it hit him in the face, which I pray someday it will. This country is in sad shape and getting worse. The last 6 months have been the worst I have experienced in many years, if ever, and I fear it might get worse. A government that will tax the people to pay for murdering the unborn, the disabled and the elderlyis an abomination. Let the government figure out how to reduce health care costs, malpractice insurance costs, doctors wages, etc. Then we would not have the issues we have. And while they are at it, make ‘workfare’ a requirement; get shiftless, capable people in the workforce and off the welfare rolls. Welfare has become a generational curse due to lack of government control. Their efforts would be better spent in that direction and out of health care arena.

  26. To name a few: Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd–for a start. Oops, forgot a biggie—Rahm Emmanuel!!!!

  27. Dear Comrades, we all know that our government is run by men-of-honor, not deceitful, sleazy, greedy, liars drunk with power. How dare the slave owner, Thomas Jefferson suggest that The People never give the government power it wouldn’t give to evil men. How dare he!

The Gov’t is good, the gov’t will care for you, the gov’t is run by benevolent, kind, generous men who love you.

Hopefully, the day will come when these ridiculous checks and balances (two houses of Congress, a President, and a Court) are combined for efficiency. Fortunately, Sotomayor has reached the top and will now use her love, compassion, and wise latina background to wave away this nonsense wherein the court must be blind to race, color, creed, and religion. The court now has been given the authority to use its “feelings” in judging cases.

The time to take economic control of the masses is now! We will enact a loving system of healthcare for all. Did I say all? I meant for the masses. I and my leadership will have our own, separate healthcare plan, just like we have for retirement…..hahahahahaha.

Vote Socialist/Marxist Democrat. We are kind and good. Give us the power we need to care for you properly.

Soon we will be issuing Federal ID cards with your digital photo and DNA.
