Joe the Plumber was at the RightOnline blogger conference in Pittsburgh last weekend where he lamented the progress that doesn’t allow him to beat Nancy Pelosi for suggesting that it was un-American for protesters to disrupt town halls. Joe said that in the “good old day” he could take Pelosi behind the wood shed and beat the tar out of her.
According to AlterNet, the non plumber said, “For Pelosi to write about us bein’ un-American and disrespectful, I’ll tell ya what, I respect nobody who lies to me and [humiliates] me and takes my money and puts my children in debt — they want me to be respectful toward them? Please! You know, I’m not the most civilized person. Those kind of people, I usually took behind the woodshed and just beat the livin’ tar out of ’em.”
Ok, reality time. Here is what Pelosi wrote, “These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted “Just say no!” drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion…Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”
The protesters aren’t un-American. Drowning out opposing views is un-American. Just in case anyone missed Joe’s point, he repeated it in an interview with Think Progress:
Joe keeps saying he is not a violent person, but he keeps advocating violence as a remedy for people who disagree with him. What’s worse, Joe seems to be missing the good old days when he could take a woman out back and beat her around a bit. Sam Wurzelbacher is a joke. He may play well with the base, but every time a group like Americans for Prosperity pays him to speak, he humiliates the GOP.
