A Progressive Death Panel for Joe the Liar Wilson

Last updated on April 2nd, 2010 at 04:46 pm

Last night’s soaring, tough, and pragmatic healthcare reform speech by President Obama was deeply moving. The man is a genius and he cares. We will get this done. Now is the Season for Action. Yes, we can!

In the background of Obama’s mightiness, Republicans were Behaving Badly; heckling, laughing, waving prop plan papers, and generally behaving like two year illiterates whose only chance for attention was disruption. Republican Joe Wilson, SC, who earlier helped corporate shrill Sarah Palin spread the Death Panel lie, made headlines with his false accusation, “YOU LIE!” when President Obama (yes, boys, he is your PRESIDENT) was addressing the fear-mongering falsehood that illegal immigrants would be covered by this healthcare plan.

You remember Joe Wilson, right? He’s a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, an organization teeming with white supremacists and racists, who was one of 7 who voted to fly the confederate flag over the SC capitol. Yeah, white sheet guy. That’s him. He also voted 11 times against health care for veterans in eight years, even as he voted yes on the Iraq War. He called Democrats who weren’t on board “anti-American”. Oh, heavens.

I’m thinking Van Jones was right.

Republicans are a$$holes.

And to think Van Jones got let go for saying that ten years ago, before he was advising the WH. And yet Republicans say “Nazi” and “Liar” to the POTUS’s face, and they expect to keep their jobs.

Hmmmm……

While many Republicans defended this as Joe’s “freedom of speech”, this kind of thing just isn’t done. See, there are rules for civilized (that’s where we lost Republicans, apparently) behavior. It’s called decorum.

Handy preemptive strike for the lurking freeper:

Of course, when Joe the Liar Wilson (R, SC) yelled out, “You lie!” to President Obama, a war time President—and we all remember that it’s treason to say anything against a war time president (but it’s A-OK to scream “You Lie!” directly at him during a Congressional Address which is being aired internationally) — we wondered, is Joe the Liar a thug, using a pre-planned method of attack or is he truly illiterate and therefore unable to read the bill to know that he is wrong?

If Joe the Liar is a thug, he should be censured. While his lame apology claimed his “emotions” got the better of him (nod to his rabid base and their favorite gutster, W), in point of fact, he had the speech for hours before the address. He obviously planned this disruption to benefit his benefactors.

“Over his entire congressional career, health professionals represent Wilson’s top industry contributors, donating a total of $244,196 to his campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics OpenSecrets.org database. He received another $86,150 from pharmaceutical companies, $73,050 from insurance companies and $68,000 from hospitals and nursing homes.”

So, emotional outburst, not so much. Joe planned to attack and disrupt the President, he just didn’t plan for a camera to catch him. After all, he wasn’t the only Republican Behaving Badly. He’s just the only one who got named.

On the other hand, if poor Joe the Liar is illiterate and can’t read, he needs to resign immediately. Because even though the bill is long, it wasn’t hard for your average Joe the Citizen to read and find the relevant area, thereby assuring themselves of the fact that Joe the Liar was indeed, lying.

“H.R. 3200: Sec 246 — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

So there it is, in black and white, which reminds me of the run on white sheets in South Carolina Wal-Marts before the Address. I’m sure it’s not related, after all, Republican hate/racism is a nation-wide problem, hardly contained in South Carolina. Though it’s fair to say that racism is often associated with glory instead of shame in S.C., leaving it wide open to criticism after stunts like Joe the Liar’s.

Republicans shamed this nation, shamed their party, shamed South Carolina, and shamed their office last night.

Having established that our Republican representatives are liars and/or illiterates, it seems that being Republican representative should be considered a pre-existing condition. As such, We the People no longer wish to pay for their healthcare, which they currently receive for the duration of their lives after serving.

It’s really very simple. Lie about healthcare in an attempt to deny us the same coverage you have and We the People will not pay for YOURS anymore.

Joe the Liar can have a voucher, like Sarah Palin wants to give seniors instead of Medicare. Just a head’s up, Joe: Cancer is 5 vouchers, and you will only have 3. So, use them wisely.

See, them there is a Death Panel of sorts, boy. So maybe it’s all workin’ out for the best. You get your Death Panels and we get rid of dead weight like you.

Best of luck to ya’.
