Obama Wins the Nobel Peace Prize and the “Right” Align Themselves with Taliban in Opposition to US President

The self-described “conservatives”/aka, hatriots can’t feel proud of their country if it means anything good for their President. Now, at last, the GOP has aligned themselves with the Taliban for all to see.

Obama is being recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize for so many reasons — his attitude toward global negotiations being the number one game changer. He’s also called for disarmament and worked to restart stalled Middle East peace moves. Other countries now like us again. We are, at long last, on the road to regaining our moral authority on the world stage.

Americans should all be proud, but the right, who crave Bushian leadership style (authoritarian dictatorships mixed with phony religious fever and faux patriotism; often referred to as elements of Fascism) can’t handle egalitarian principles, and indeed, do not value peace. Their’s is a system built on patriarchy and power over.

Much like the Taliban.

“‘We condemn the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama,’ Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP…by telephone from an undisclosed location.”

Just weeks after Republicans were crowing about Obama’s (and the United State’s) failure to get the Olympics, now when their President/country is honored, they search desperately to de-legitimize the honor.

Michael Steele contended that Obama won the prize as a result of his “star power” rather than meaningful accomplishments. The other “head” of the Republican party, Rush Limbaugh, added,” They love a weakened, neutered U.S and this is their way of promoting that concept. I think God has a great sense of humor, too.”

Way to love your country, gentlemen.

And because the right projects their own inherent and insidious racism onto others, they can’t think of any reason for Obama to have won the Nobel Peace Prize other than his race, so RedState’s Erickson smears Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize as “an affirmative action quota”.

Yes, Erickson…because that provincial, closed-minded attitude made the “Right” worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize, not to mention the pre-emptive wars and the Christian Holy War against “Gog” and “evil” in the middle east; But that darn affirmative action that got in the way. Just like it did during the last election!

Yes, it had nothing to do with ideas or policies. It’s all about race, according to the resentful, petulant losers who bristle if anyone accuses them of being racists while they base everything that doesn’t go their way on race. Or rather, the rampant favoritism they claim that minorities benefit from in America. Of course, only a person so privileged as to never experience discrimination could or would make such a patently ridiculous claim…

The Republican party is apparently tone-deaf and blind to the rest of the world, a condition that the Nobel Peace Prize Committee Chairman anticipated. On Good Morning America this morning, the Chairman clearly stated that the committee doesn’t want to hear any questions or rumors about the award, as it was a unanimous decision…. I wonder if anyone on the right heard him?

Naw. They’ve already started a petition to urge the President to turn down this now rebranded “crisis”. Because an American president getting a Nobel Peace Prize while in office isn’t an accomplishment…it’s a crisis. Especially if you hate the President and your country when you lose elections.

The prize surely couldn’t have been awarded for real reasons, such as Obama being one of the few who said he would have voted NO on the Iraq war – way back in 2002- when to say so made you a traitor. Or the real and meaningful way he is changing the way the US negotiates on the global stage.

According to the right, he hasn’t yet “accomplished” world peace, therefore, he doesn’t deserve this prize. In other words, none of the winners have ever deserved the prize– because we have not achieved world peace. Hmmm…I guess that means that trying is worthless, attitudes are irrelevant, and heck, why not just invade a sovereign nation before getting any information, because gee, what’s the difference, anyway? See, nothing is too big or small to be denigrated as worthless by the desperate losers.

According to the Nobel Peace Prize folks, “the Nobel Peace Prize in his will to be awarded to “the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses… The prize can be awarded for current efforts, rather than for having accomplished a goal or resolved an issue.” So, the criticism that he hasn’t accomplished anything yet is moot.

That leaves us with the Republicans last ditch effort to demean this award: the only explanation for this award is that those Nobel People must have wanted to give an award to someone with darker skin than they have! That’s the ticket! I guess the Republicans missed the other nominees — not all of whom had white skin:

“Until seconds before the award, speculation had focused on a wide variety of candidates besides Obama: Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, a Colombian senator, a Chinese dissident and an Afghan woman’s rights activist, among others….The Nobel committee received a record 205 nominations for this year’s prize,”

See, Republicans, it’s possible that more than one of those worldwide nominees didn’t have white skin. Not all humans do, you know.

So, I guess the old “affirmative action” notion isn’t a stellar offensive, but no worries: the right doesn’t get out much these days, so chances are they’ll never find out.

Let’s not forget that the right doesn’t value peace or democracy; this entire notion is antithetical to their way of life, so it wouldn’t be fair to expect them to love America or be proud of her right now for this international honor.

Those who aren’t running terrorist regimes don’t agree with the GOP:

Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai, whose government is supported by the US and NATO allies, welcomed the award as “appropriate”.

“His hard work and his new vision on global relations, his will and efforts for creating friendly and good relations at global level and global peace make him the appropriate recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize,” Karzai’s spokesman Siamak Hirai said.

“Obama’s election and foreign policy moves caused a dramatic improvement in the image of the U.S. around the world. A 25-nation poll of 27,000 people released in July by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found double-digit boosts to the percentage of people viewing the U.S. favorably in countries around the world. That indicator had plunged across the world under President George W. Bush.”

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the award confirmed “America’s return to the hearts of the people of the world”. — Clearly a place the GOP doesn’t want to be, because things are so much better if we continue to threaten and bully our allies, even as we lose power.

So, while the rest of the world celebrates Obama’s honor, and indeed, the United States of America’s honor, the GOP and the Taliban remain joined in their opposition to Obama and America.
