Palin’s “Going Rogue” Tour Finally Jumps the Shark

Palin’s “Going Rogue” “Bus Tour” Jumps the Shark

Sarah Palin’s book tour has been besieged with bad press; from the Ft. Bragg debacle where her father violated military rules by making a political statement to the press during which he bashed the CIC and President, claiming “Obama is scary” and can’t lead the military to the revelation (courtesy of Palingates) that Palin was not on a bus tour as she claimed, but instead was jetting around the country on a private jet to the tune of $4,000.00 an hour and hopping on the bus to make her grand entrance “heartland” style.

Just one of the people! Wink Wink!

Palin has a rather creepy way of always trying to emulate the President, and this tour on Air Farce One is just more of the same desperate attempt to equate herself with a man far out of her reach both intellectually and temperamentally.

Her book has been fact-checked and found to full of lies and fiction, much of it being called libelous, and plenty of people are lining up to speak out.

Remember Trooper Wooten from Troopergate, the investigation that found Palin guilty of abusing her power and violating Alaska Ethics Laws?

And by the way, Palin continues to lie about the findings of the bi-partisan Branchflower report, but you knew that:

“I’m very, very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing, any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that.” FALSE.

Trooper Wooten, whom Palin was trying to get fired in a personal vendetta, went so far as to respond to the distortions in “Going Rogue”, saying on the record last week:

“They’re (Palin family) like poisonous snakes in the grass who spew nothing but venom. They just lay in wait and they attack you until you’re dead.”

And there are plenty more who have stepped forward to declare “Going Rogue” fiction, and Palin a “Sociopath”.

All Republicans.

Irony and implosion abound when Palin is around.

Last week, Palin was punk’d AGAIN by another Canadian comedian, at a recent stop on her “Going Rogue” book tour. Palin told Canadian comedian TV actress Mary Walsh (who plays a Steven Colber-esque faux conservative on her show) that Canada should get rid of its public health care system. Yes. You heard me right.

Mary had tried to interview Palin in the bookstore, but was thrown out by security for asking Palin a question. Free speech zones, anyone? America, the land of the free and home of the brave. You betcha.

Mary was reduced to staking out the parking lot waiting for Palin to board her campaign bus, where she got Palin to respond to her. Palin shouted that Mary should “keep the faith because common sense conservatism can be plugged in there in Canada too. In fact, Canada needs to reform its health care system and let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed.”

Never mind that 90% of Canadians want to keep their health insurance and they do live longer and have lower infant mortality rates than America. Oh, but socialism!!! Yikes! Let a real “fiscal conservative” (aka, largest pork taker per capita) lead the way. Surely sound policies will result!

Demonstrating yet again her failure to understand the most basic chain of command, yesterday Palin issued self-serving Facebook “note” /aka, “press release” Rogue style, wherein she clearly suffers from the delusion that she has influence on President Obama:

“Three months ago, I joined a number of Americans in urging President Obama to provide the resources necessary to achieve our goals in Afghanistan. Tonight, I am glad he mostly heeded that advice….

We should be in Afghanistan to win, not to set a timetable for withdrawal that signals a lack of resolve to our friends, and lets our enemies believe they can wait us out. As long as we’re in to win, and as long as troop level decisions are based on conditions on the ground and the advice of our military commanders, I support President Obama’s decision.”

Yes, President Obama. Did you hear that? Win, baby, win! Now, what was so stinkin’ hard about that?

We should note that Palin’s facebook notes are not written by her anymore than her book was, but we can assume she approves of the message as it still stands.

Palin’s support is conditional on Obama taking orders from the men who work beneath him. Apparently, Palin gets her information about what a CIC does from Fox, and she fails to comprehend that our founding fathers chose a civilian to be the CIC for a reason.

Just in case there are any fact-challenged wing nuts joining us:

“Civilian control of the military is a doctrine in military and political science that places ultimate responsibility for a country’s strategic decision-making in the hands of the civilian political leadership, rather than professional military officers. One author, paraphrasing Samuel P. Huntington’s writings in The Soldier and the State, has summarized the civilian control ideal as “the proper subordination of a competent, professional military to the ends of policy as determined by civilian authority””

Oh, Sarah. And I won’t even get into the letter from a 91 year old vet that Palin posted on her Facebook page addressing President Obama as “son”and insinuating that he doesn’t love America. Epic fail.

And just yesterday, Palin announced she would now be charging for photos. Those poor suckers who camp outside of Costco for the chance to get their books signed by the Their Most Holy of Mothers and Second Coming End Times Dinosaur Rider must now fork over 15.99 for a 5×7 of Sarah signing their book. The cost to print a 5×7 is 1.59. Somebody found a new way to grift. And, also, too, a nice way to collect addresses for SarahPAC. Wait, this isn’t a campaign, right?

http://breepalin.blogspot.com/2009/12/sarah-palins-fee-schedule-found.html

Previously, the rules were slightly diva-ish: “You may NOT take photos of Gov Palin at the signing table. You may take your photos from a distance, but you will be asked to put away your camera and cell phone as you approach the table.”

But now, they can no longer take photos with their own cameras, but must pay for prints. “This photo opportunity is provided by SarahPAC”. Yes, the opportunities for Sarah to make money off of her followers never end! They can donate to the Alaska Trust Fund (a trust set up for Sarah for any purpose she chooses), SarahPAC, or one of her many other “endeavors”. Go build another house for free, Sarah,! Oops, she’s already doing that. A real down-to-earth workin’ class gal, that Sarah.

Sigh.

But the Palinapooloza Book Tour jumped the shark today, when an internal memo of her demands for her book-signing appearance at the Mall of America was released to the AP by accident.

The memo instructs that we must address her by “Governor”, in English only, and that no foreign press will be allowed to question the Queen. Is this a good time to mention her “I’m focused on 2012” slip on Fox?

“She’s no longer the chief executive of Alaska, but Sarah Palin should still be called “governor.”

That was the message sent out by officials at the Mall of America this week, who told reporters planning to cover the Minneapolis-area stop on Palin’s “Going Rogue” book tour they must address the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate by her former title. The guidelines also banned foreign reporters, allowing “only English speaking press.”

Mall officials said the guidelines were a mistake, and apologized Wednesday to Palin for the mix up, which they called “an internal miscommunication” that was “inadvertently distributed.””

The press release ended with a rather lame acknowledgment by Palin’s Harper Collins publicist, Tina Andreadis, that this wasn’t the message the “Governor” wanted to send out. No kidding. Sounds a little like the “rogue diva” McCain aides described. Aw, say it ain’t so, Joe!

This is the same Sarah Palin who announced in her Quitting Speech that she “didn’t need a title” to progress Alaska and that she wasn’t in it for the title. Hey, Sarah, for the sake of the troops, why don’t ya’ quit makin’ things up?

MSNBC’s coverage of the press release fiasco indicates that suddenly “all press is welcome”. Yes, I’m sure they are, NOW that this has been publicized and Palin’s thin skin has yet again been revealed to the world. But they still can’t ask any questions, can they?

Palin’s blackout of the press is nothing new. In the last few weeks, she has blacklisted CBS and has refused to answer questions by all reporters, saving herself for friendlier interviews with Fox news and Rush Limbaugh. Even in these interviews, she struggles to sound vaguely coherent, and it’s clear she’s been given the questions in advance.

Scared of the brown people and the socialists, Sarah?

Going Rogue’s faux bus tour will be over in one more cringe-inducing week, sure to be packed with gaffes, more revelations of dishonesty and lies, and more bashing of the President.

Always a good time with the Queen of Teabaggers. Go, democracy!
