Fox News Attacks LL Cool J for Exposing Sarah Palin Show Fraud

Fox News Attacks LL Cool J for Exposing Sarah Palin Show Fraud
I'm going back to Fox News, man I don't think so.

After LL Cool J called Fox News out for trying to sell Sarah Palin’s Real American Stories clip show as new programming, the network responded by claiming that LL does not want to inspire people and took at jab at his acting career. LL’s real motivation was not his concern about inspiration, but the idea that people were going to be fooling into watching a prepackaged best of show hosted by Palin.

Here is the blurb about the show on its website, “What do we share as Americans? A unique history. A love of freedom. An understanding that together we can make a difference. A chance to make our dreams reality. This is a place where people – from all walks of life – can share their personal stories, and talk about what makes this country great. Join us as we celebrate the American Spirit.”

The network made it sound like the show was all new including the celebrity interviews, which included LL Cool J in the first episode. The advertising was designed to lead viewers to believe that LL would be giving an interview to Palin, which as it turns out wasn’t the truth. LL didn’t appreciate being part of the misleading campaign and let the world know how he really felt about it via Twitter, “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s Show. WOW.”

Fox being Fox, they didn’t apologize once they were caught, but instead they removed Cool J from the show and attacked him. A Fox News spokesperson told TVnewser, “Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

Of course, the Fox News spokesperson did avoid the real issue, which is the fact that the network tried to mislead viewers into tuning in to a program that would have featured a two year old interview that Sarah Palin had nothing to do with. Before anyone thinks that this is about partisan politics, you should know that LL Cool J is a Republican who has appeared at the Republican National Convention before.

I know that many of the Palin followers will read something racial into this because LL is black, but this has nothing to do with race, and it might come as a surprise to those on the right but skin color does not automatically make someone an Obama supporter. LL Cool J did not want to be a part of the fraud that Fox News was carrying out. It isn’t any kind of big shock that the network would resort to personal attacks. This whole thing would have been avoided, if the network would have said, we don’t trust Sarah to interview a roll of wet paper towels much less LL Cool J so we are going to have her introduce an old interview. That would have been the honest approach and we all know that Fox News doesn’t do honesty.

  1. Fox News leads the way in recylcing, first they used old video during the tea party events and now an old video from an interview, who knew Fox was so into the green movenment.

  2. Fox is at it again… I don’t see why they would think this is even close to acceptable? Could Sarah Palin not handle doing any interviews herself? Is this an April Fools Joke?

Also: LL Cool J is a Republican? WTF?!?! That’s really sad.

  3. It looks as though Toby Keith has also said something about an old interview of his being used. Funny about him–he’s a registered Democrat. Go figure.

P.S. The Jack Welch interview is also said to be old stuff.

Why don’t we just recycle Palin back to Wasilla ASAP?

  4. @Older_Wiser, It looks like all the celeb stuff is going to be recycled. Gee, why wouldn’t they trust Palin to interview people? That would be some real train wreck television.

  5. WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE WORD ‘PROFILE’ THAT YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND?
NOT ONCE IN THE PROMOS DID ANYONE SAY PALIN WOULD BE INTERVIEWING LL COOL J, OR ANY OF THE OTHER PEOPLE ? SINCE WHEN DOES ANY NETWORK NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO A PUBLIC FIGURE FOR USING THEIR LIFE AND CIRSUMSTANCES IN A POSITIVE LIGHT? A POSITIVE LIGHT!!!!
HAS YOUR HATE TAKEN YOU SO DEEP INTO THE DARKNESS THAT YOU CAN NO LONGER SEE THE TRUTH?
I HEARD DENNIS MILLER SAY THAT WHEN SOME OF HIS FRIENDS EXPRESS THEIR HATRED FOR SARAH PALIN, HE SAYS,”REALLY? HOW FAR DOWN DO YOU NEED TO DIG TO FIND SOMETHING TO HATE ABOUT THIS WOMAN?”
SO, HOW FAR DOWN ARE YOU DIGGING? WHAT CAN YOU FIND TO HATE ABOUT HER THAT SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE, OR EVEN ADORE (OBAMA MAYBE?) ISN’T FAR MORE GUILTY?

  6. Where does it say that the show is about palin interviewing people or that anything would be new? I did not get that impression at all. I have NO IDEA what the show is since it wasnt even broadcast yet.

Lots of assumption and projection here ……..

  7. Sarah Palin is one of those STUPID Americans that the rest of the world looks at and shakes their heads and says “stupid Americans”. Fox put a spin on the LL Cool J story by saying he didn’t want to be part of an inspiring story, yet I suspect he didn’t want to be associated with dumbness… @NMCO just STFU. If you believe in Sarah Palin, you’re as STUPID as she is.

  8. JE,

“Why don’t we just recycle Palin back to Wasilla ASAP?”

Wasilla don’t want her back. Maybe the folks finding homes for the leftovers at Gitmo could find Sarah a new home…

  9. @NMCO, why are you shouting? Caps lock is not cruise-control for cool, no matter what you’ve read.

From across the Atlantic, this looks almost funny, at least it would if you didn’t seem to be seriously considering giving some kind of power to this crypto-fascist Alaska nutjob. I despair for your country and I, along with large portions of the rest of Europe, truly pity Americans.

  10. Fox would not know the truth if it bit them in the ass. They acually fired some reporters once for refusing to lie on the air. The reporters sued in court for wrongful termination . Fox’s defense was that they have the right to lie. The ex-fox reporters lost.
