Rush Limbaugh’s tenuous grasp on reality took another turn for the worse today, as he tried to make the case that it is Obama and the Left, not the Right which is delusional, “Now Obama is totally delusional, but that’s not the half of it. Leftist ideologues are always delusional. I mean that’s how they are able to ignore all the facts and knowledge around them.”

Limbaugh said, “Now Obama is totally delusional, but that’s not the half of it. Leftist ideologues are always delusional. I mean that’s how they are able to ignore all the facts and knowledge around them. We asked this yesterday on this program. We asked this constantly. How can they not see what they are causing? How can they not? Well, they are delusional. Their delusions allow them to ignore what they see, the facts and knowledge all around them, that’s how they are able to deny any responsibility for it. Everything is the fault of everyone else. What they’re doing as they destroy things in their delusional mind is fixing it, and they keep trying the same failed policies over and over again because they are delusional. Now I wish that all it was was that Obama is delusional.”
Limbaugh’s claim that Obama and the Left are delusional is pretty funny when you consider that he and the GOP are still claiming that trickledown economics works. The Left are not the people in this country who think that the best way to run the economy is to raise spending and cut taxes. It is not the Left which continues to stand against regulation, even though mass deregulation has been nothing short of a disaster in this country. It is not the Left that is so entrenched in their ideology that can’t even support common sense solutions to our nation’s problems.
Rush Limbaugh couldn’t cite any examples of failed policies that the Left continues to stick to, nor could he explain exactly what Obama and the Left are destroying. Obama isn’t running around in a Revolutionary War costume waving a tea bag, while screaming about how he wants to do some teabagging in Washington, D.C. There aren’t people on the Left claiming that the constitutionally elected President of the United States is not a citizen. The Left isn’t out there protesting taxes, when taxes are at the lowest level since 1950.
If you step back and look at the behavior of the two sides, you will see that while the Left attempts to govern, the Right continues to spin further away from the mainstream political discourse taking place in this country. The most delusional element of the Obama presidency has been the idea that he could actually be bipartisan and the Republican Party would work with him. Obama was completely delusional to believe that the GOP could ever put politics aside for the betterment of the country, but beyond this, the delusion in current politics resides on the right, and it is fed 24 hours a day by people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and networks like Fox News.
