Sean Hannity Bashes Gun Locks Then Admits He Uses Gun Locks

Don't trust this man with your charity fundraiser or advice on the Second Amendment

On his Fox News program Hannity tonight, host Sean Hannity upped the ante in his bid to be named most unintentionally funny Fox News show, by first bashing gun locks then in the same breath admitting that he uses gun locks in his own home, thereby undercutting his entire fear mongering rant against gun locks.

Here is the video courtesy of Media Matters:

While debating gun locks with Fox News contributor Bob Beckel, Hannity claimed to be against them, but also using them, “Hey Bob, what are you supposed to do when the criminal comes into your house? Hang on a second, I know the combination. What is it sweetheart? You know? Did you ever try? I have a gun lock. I use them, but also they have a new safe where you usually have a fingerprint, boom, it pops open with just your fingerprint.”

Sean Hannity hates gun locks. He views them as threat to homeowner security, but he uses them in his own home. The fact that he personally uses gun locks undercuts his argument against them. This doesn’t stop Hannity from delivering the NRA’s talking point on gun locks. Since there are no statistics about whether or not gun owners are more vulnerable to crime if they use gun locks, it is a good idea to rely on a little common sense. If you have children in your home, especially small children, then gun locks can prevent a potential tragedy.

I don’t think that gun locks will lead to the downfall of western civilization as we know it, and I definitely don’t believe that gun locks are somehow a violation of the Second Amendment. I am a believer in smart, safe, responsible gun ownership. If you have kids in the house, you should lock up your guns. I don’t know any gun owners who would argue this point. Hannity should be praised for gun locks or a safe, but he is an idiot for trying to argue against the very product that he uses in his own home.

Hannity delivered for us tonight another fine example of Fox News information dissemination. Gun locks are bad, but even though they are bad and can lead to a criminal breaking into your house and killing you if you don’t know the combination, they are still being used by the very people who are criticizing them. We all know that Fox News has a blind spot when it comes to their own hypocrisy, but even by their loose standards, this is hysterical. Hannity appeared to be completely oblivious to the obvious question. If gun locks are so bad, then why do you use them in your own home?

  1. Hannity made the choice to use gun locks. I know libtards find it hard to comprehend, but making the use of gun locks mandatory isn’t necessary for people with a brain. Unfortunately it appears most libtards don’t possess brains.

  2. speaking of brains, you could’ve read the article and understood that Mr. Hannity said he is totally against gunlocks but uses them himself. I hope this helps you in your quest to understand life

  3. The odds of a burglar coming into your home at night and you getting a gun on them is indeed quite rare. the odds are greater that you probably have children in the home and it’s a good idea to have gun-locks on your weapons.

To argue against the use of gun locks is totally insane. 99% of the time if a burglar gets into your house it’s best to let him do what he’s going to do and keep quiet. If you go after the burglar you have a 50-50 chance of being killed. Where does that leave your family? There’s no problem with being armed inside your bedroom and if somebody enters then shoot them, but to go prowling around the house when there’s a person knowing you’re there and they have a gun is not smart. Yours and your family’s life comes first. Protect your kids and use a gun lock along with a gun cabinet

  4. John, I have a little quiz for you.

You’re awakened by a noise in the middle of the night and find there’s an intruder in your home.

What is the first thing you do?

If you said anything other than “call 911” you fail.
Get the police on their way THEN grab your gun. You see, I’m not anti-gun, just sensible.

  5. “What is the first thing you do?”

Calling 911 when the nearest police station is over an hour away is a waste of precious time. I have responsibility for my families safety.

  6. Hannity uses locks on his guns that are STORED while he’s away. He doesn’t use them on his guns used for his family’s protection while he’s home. This apparently is beyond the comprehension of brain-dead Liberals. The real story is “Beckel Bashes Gun Ownership…yet owns guns.” Of course you missed that, too.

  7. This article is is not a debate on gun locks, it is a shot at Hannity for appearing to contradict himself. I find it interesting the the left can either be so intellectually dishonest or in this case, lacking the intelligence to discern the difference between the right of personal choice and a legal requirement. Hannity is obviously against mandatory use of gun locks, not the choice to use them. Prior to responding to this, really ask yourself, “Did I really lack the intelligence to understand this, or was I deliberate in my position?” If you lack that level of intelligence, I honestly have no beef with you and I hope you find this exchange to be educational. However, if you were deliberate, than you are obviously intentionally dishonest with your debate. In which case, you are a lost cause and no level of sound logic and reason will ever pervade.

I hope that helps you with your reading handicap. The article doesn’t support your assumptions

  9. “Dear GOD!!!! I fear for your family!”

Thanks, but we’re doing fine without the meddling of leftwingnut do-gooders. I hope you don’t count on the police to protect you. They aren’t required to do that.

  10. Why is he bashing gun locks as dangerous if he is choosing to use them? It seems to me that you are trying to change the subject. By Hannity’s very own criteria, isn’t he putting his own family in danger by using gun locks? It isn’t about the choice, but his obvious contradictory argument.

  11. Jason Easley says:

“It isn’t about the choice, but his obvious contradictory argument.”

The argument is against the mandatory requirement of gun locks. Intelligent people will use them as they deem necessary. Mandating by government is just more unnecessary intervention.

    Very good and well-reasoned post.
