A Date with Kate Gosselin Exposes Sarah Palin As A Camping Fraud

Sarah Palin Protects Kate Gosselin by Making Faces Behind Her Back

Tonight’s “special episode” of Sarah Palin’s Alaska focused on showcasing Sarah Palin rugged “outdoors woman” as she took novice camper/ fellow reality show diva Kate Gosselin on a camping trip, but what resulted was more evidence that Palin is as clueless about the outdoors as she is about politics.

This was set up as Kate and her kids just happened to be in Alaska, and they were going on Piper’s next camping trip as her friends. Kate’s role here was that of the city girl who doesn’t understand the outdoors and needed to take a bear safety class, but this class was just as much for the pretend Mrs. Grizzly Adams as it was for Kate. Gosslin being the experienced reality show hand knew how to play for drama. This is a quality that has eluded the terribly one dimensional and wooden Palin from episode one. Don’t worry the children were never placed in any danger as the Palin men tagged along to protect them from Sarah’s incompetence.

Ms NRA
didn’t know how to deal with the kickback of her weapon but much hoopla was made about her being a “good shot”. What this means is anyone’s guess, since the gun instructor told Willow that it didn’t matter if she aimed. Later in the episode, Palin sawed branches off of a tree limb with the machete coming at her body instead of away as she talked about how much she loved getting out into the wilderness for family time, which rang hollow as we all know that this trip was for show, being as they are accompanied by a reality TV crew.

Poor Kate was set up to be Sarah’s foil. Palin exploited this opportunity to let her mean girl shine, from terrifying the kids to shocking Kate. Palin could barely contain her internal glee as the rush of power surged through her as Kate grew more and more upset. Sarah claimed she was going to take care of Kate, but instead she made the entire episode about showing off her faux-toughness at Kate’s expense. At one point Sarah rolled her eyes at Kate and then laughed at Kate with Todd, suggesting that Todd was the smart one for getting away from Kate’s complaining.

After Kate leaves the camping trip for dry, warm ground, Palin says, “I suppose if you took me to New York to a red carpet event, I’d be like naw get me out of here.” Really? Is this the same Palin who has begged to be written about eating at The Place to Be Seen in New York? Or the same Palin who took to swag tents like a desperate wannabe? The same Palin who keeps certain paparazzi on speed dial hoping to get noticed?

This episode was supposed to set Sarah up as the rugged tough one, but the truth is that America already knows that Palin requires bendy straws when she speaks, a certain class of jet, has very expensive tastes in clothes when other people are paying, has a make up artist, hair dresser, stylist and personal assistant just steps off the set and never goes anywhere without a security entourage. Watching Palin play Rugged One trying to amp up the drama when in reality her security entourage is just off set and would shoot any bear with the bad sense to approach she who cares nothing for animal life would be like watching a train wreck if it weren’t so boring.

For all of her rumored charm, Palin falls flat in this series. When she’s not delivering deadpan narration, Palin wastes no time getting in her petty digs at Joe McGinness (again….yes…again…) and then two “we can see Russia from here!” digs (again…as if seeing Russia gives you foreign policy credentials….). Palin is overly made up and quite simply lacks the authenticity necessary to endear her to American TV audiences. Kate may have been whining, but she was real. Kate wasn’t pretending to be something she wasn’t. And that’s Palin’s biggest problem. Palin is so busy selling America on the Palin myth that every second of Sarah Palin’s Alaska (the edit of which Palin has control over as a producer) is so heavily scripted and stage managed for maximum political impact that she never offers us a glimpse of the real Palin.

Sarah Palin’s Alaska is not a documentary by any stretch of the imagination and it’s also not a reality TV show. In most reality TV shows, events are loosely scripted but the cameras are shooting all of the time and capturing real moments which are later crafted into the most dramatic narrative possible. Those raw moments are how the audience gets hooked on the show and the characters; they’re drawn in by the recognition of humanity being unveiled. The world was curious about Sarah Palin and she could have used this show to ingratiate herself to Americans, had she only trusted reality enough to let the cameras capture even a few moments of it. Instead, Palin let her paranoia and ultimate distrust of what she has to offer force her to hide beneath manufactured moments that never come alive. This is plastic Alaska, not rugged Alaska, and it’s beyond boring.

The only people who looked remotely real and genuine on this episode were Kate Gosselin and her kids and that is a new low, even for Sarah Palin.

  1. I think from work experience, that the more someone tries to justify themselves for being stupid the more you want to fire them.

I am betting there are only 2 republicans who are not under their beds when this show comes on. Bachmann and Cream of DeMenthe.

On the other hand, I can see Willow saying “Say, wait a minute, are you my real mom?”

  2. What amazes me is that while I don’t agree with Palin’s purported politics (note I say purported since she didn’t govern as she speaks), she has a charisma she could have exploited here and yet, she failed at her Fox Real American stories due to a frozen, stilted flop of a performance and while she does better here, she’s simply not engaging. It appears to me as if Burnett decided that he’d make his money back by allowing her to be nationally humiliated or at least he played both sides of that fence in an attempt to capture a larger audience than just her fans. I can’t figure out why she let these episodes go out like this. She must be more delusional than I thought, or the rest of the footage was so hideous that this is truly the best of it. Yikes!

  3. I honestly think she thinks she is doing something truly excellent for her career. By constantly brining up accusations or retributions from the past I think she believes she is putting all that to rest satisfactorily when everyone already knows the truth about her. She should have let this silliness stay sleeping, because she is making her self out a fool

  4. Ugh, I can’t even watch one commercial of her sham show let alone One Whole Hour.

The reason why one can’t put a finger on what type of show it is, documentary or reality, is because it’s an hour long bullshit filled repug political gag fest.

  5. LOL

What a “maroon.” It didn’t matter if Willow aimed because she fired a “firecracker” round, not an actual bullet. It was a noisemaker meant to scare the bear away. If you’d halfway paid attention, you’d know that.

  6. Palin didn’t fire an actual round either. Or are you trying to say Palin’s a good shot suddenly? LOL. Except last week…..It’s like clockwork with the Palinbots. You think if you defend her on every website, you’ll add to your little clique. Ha.

  7. Good Job again Jason and Sarah!
Nice to see you two team up.

This show isn’t even a “reality” show it is more a comedy than anything else. The only “real” part of this show appears to be how $P is being portrayed as a tourist is her own state w/ a petty, mean and vindictive personality.

  8. “If only you’d watch the show and read THE BOOK! Then you’d know the truth about Messiah Palin!” No thanks. I prefer reality.

  9. Hank seriously? You got nothing else? She’s running for president and making an ass of herself on national TV. That’s not hate, it’s reality.

  10. What’s not to dislike? There is simply nothing else left to feel about a person who publicly degrades anyone who doesn’t agree with her, or anyone who she perceives as a challenge to her ambitions; a person who refuses to ever take responsibility for her words or actions, but instead blames and attacks every person, place and circumstance, outside of herself; a person who, in spite of the fact that she constantly demeans others, uses fake victimhood to avoid ever looking within herself as a causal factor in the negativity she generates. She exhibits no traits of kindness or respect or understanding or generosity of spirit towards others. Quite the opposite. The intensity of the widespread dislike of a person like this is commensurate with the intensity of hurtfulness she perpetrates on others, the intensity with which she denies doing so, and the intensity with which she blames everyone else for her wrongdoing. There is simply nothing to like about someone like this.

  11. I’m glad others are watching so I don’t have to. All those phony “reality stars” with no discernable talent make me feel like I’m being assaulted on a daily basis by morons. Has the Idiocracy arrived yet?

  12. “. . . she never offers us a glimpse of the real Palin.”

It’s very sad, but there is no “real Palin” for anyone to get a glimpse of. That’s why she is so stiff and unnatural in “reality” settings. She only feels comfortable/competent in her carefully manufactured “cute peppy cheerleader-mean girl-posing as a political figure” persona. That’s all she’s got. She’s a one-trick pony.

  13. What amazes me is that there can be anyone left out there who can’t see the difference between what Palin pretends to be and what Palin is. It’s all an act, her whole life, and it’s pretty obvious, has been obvious for some time, but never more so than now, with her fake “reality” series. There’s more reality to professional wrestling than to Palin’s life.

  14. Oh my, all the palinbots running around scooping poop…pathetic! I guess the last two weeks of KillerCaribouBarbie & Haiti queen the International joke have not gone well…lmao.
It will get worse. The Lame stream media is JUST not beginning to get a clue what bloggers & Jornos like Sarah Jones & Jason has know for 2 yrs, she is a quitter, a fraud, a grifter, a fake!
Its so funny to see them defending her!

  15. I just find it difficult to understand why, if you people have such a low opinion of her, you all come across as scared to death of her and willing to go to great lengths to discredit her any way you can.

I mean come guys! Be reasonable…..(if you can!) A photo of her daughter possibly just adjusting a loose strand of hair becomes some kind of nefarious plot aimed at the destruction of Democracy as we know it!!

Don’t you find that kind of commentary silly?

If you guys are so thoroughly convinced “White America” has such a problem with a “Black President”, it’s going to be some kinda circus if “Palin Hating America” is faced with a “Palin as President”!! :-)

  16. Her kids knows that she is a phony. Piper especially. Did anyone see the exchange between Kate and Willow at the gun range where Willow said Sarah was crazy and Kate called her crazy too!!! And when Chuck Sr. commented that Kate started “bitchin” the moment she stepped off the plane. And the Lodge that Kate mentioned….was she referring to the Palin’s cabin that I’m sure is where they’ve been camping for the last “20 years”. Sarah must think we are all stupid….it’s the ole “who you gonna believe…me or your lying eyes”?

  17. Keep on dreaming Hank…..

you all come across as scared to death of her and willing to go to great lengths to discredit her any way you can.

Nobody has “to go to great lengths to discredit her”….Sarah does a pretty good job of doing that herself. :D

  18. Hank, I have a hard time understanding why YOU have such a “high opin” of HER? She is a fraud, a fake, she doesn’t take care of her own kids, they’ve all been in trouble…and you dare talk about President Obama in the same sentence as PaYlin? Her 15 mins are about up. Get over it.
And Seriously “palin as president”? A Quitter? A grifter? A fraud? A fake? I expect as soon as she “Formally” announces the GOP will take her out in short order…she has already caused them to lose the senate.
She would be running only to grift $ off you idiots, and to line her pockets! The truth about her fake pregnancy & abortion (s) will come out. You will get to see her as you’ve never seen her before, lmao! Get ready!

  19. You must understand he is using the common talking point of “you are all scared of her”

The only thing to be afraid of her for is the damage her mouth does to this country. She is little different than Beck and Limbaugh. By themselves they are truly comical, but the nature of their lies to the people who follow them are damaging. Her total lack of knowledge of current events is damaging when she opens her mouth

Yes, if you care about your country you would be afraid of her. For the right reasons. Are we afraid she will become president? No. Do we find her hysterically funny? I do.

  20. BTW Hank, the real photo of her hair thing was when they put a tiara on her. Not about her daughter.

A little princess in the midst of a cholera epidemic. How quaint

  21. I think crystalwolfakacaligrl makes an excellent point and one that begs to be answered. The question is not why do so many dislike her (that has been answered repeatedly), the question is why on earth do any Like her? Based on her tv show alone it makes one question the rationality of her supporters.

  22. I’m with you. I haven’t watched and will not watch one second of her show. Whenever I hear her high-pitched shriek on a commercial, I run for the remote and change the channel. I know what that inflection in her voice is about, I have the same thing happen when I am uncomfortable in a situation, and/or am making something up.

She is not doing anything to help herself with this half-witted, farce of a circus show. I might have been interested if it was anyone else but this woman. She has proven over and over again, she is willfully ignorant, she lies about ANYTHING and she lacks any humility and warmth.

I love the outdoors and when I was growing up I went camping, fishing and shooting guns with my dad and brothers. From what I have heard about this show, she doesn’t know diddly squat about what she is doing. First off, I never went camping with my hair all done up and boatloads of makeup on. Who does that? Someone with an inferiority complex is my guess.

I would love to see a reality show about the REAL town of Wasilla. I bet they are lovely and real Alaskan’s who could show you what it’s actually like when you are showcasing the beautiful state and not trying to run for president. Again, who stars in a reality show to run for office?

  23. I have not heard of one person coming off as being afraid of her. Not one. But then again, facts never seem to bother you bots. I don’t like her and I’m not afraid of her. What’s to be afraid of? She’s and idiot and that’s not scary, just pathetic.

And do you really think you are going to convince even one person on this blog that she’s a genius and would make a great president? It would be as likely as you ever admitting she’s a loser and a quitter. (Just to refresh your memory, she lost VP run and then quit as Gov., ie. loser and quitter.)

  24. Pacos_gal,
Most of the time if a bot will answer that question it will be on the order of “Well she’s just like me…”! So the next question SHOULD be so, you think you can be president? Why?
Then they will start the “your just jealous” bla, bla, bla they have no REAL reasoning.

  25. Just saw a tweet from a bot complaining that this blog is “mean spirited”. Hahah! So only Sarah Palin can be mean and nasty and call people impotent and weak and ask for the President’s birth certificate but we are all supposed to line up to praise her highnesses stupid reality tv show. No one is allowed to say it’s boring. Hey Jason, the queen is super mad that you won’t be bullied into shutting up!

  26. The question was what did her sense of proximity give her in relation to Russia, specifically shipping. The liberal media has since buried the question and pretended as if they asked her what her credentials were. This is LIE.

  27. GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THE PROBLEM HERE? SEEING LAND IS NOT THE SAME AS UNDERSTANDING FOREIGN POLICY.

AND BY THE WAY THIS WAS ABOUT GEORGIA V RUSSIA – a conflict Palin was WRONG about. Dead wrong. Proven wrong. SO why do you keep beating this dead horse?

  28. Now see. There you go with typical liberal idiocy. Read over anything I’ve said and tell me where or if I stated my opinion of her. I didn’t so we’ll move on. Follow the bouncing ball closely now.

MY opinion is not at issue. I wouldn’t make it an issue. The unnatural fear and hatred of the left is what puzzles me. It’s obvious the left is petrified of this woman for whatever reason, and given that you guys have such an abysmally low opinion of her and judging from your commentary, don’t think she has enough sense to sit and grow hair at the same time, why do you dedicate so much time and effort in belittling her?

You scoff when someone nails you on your fear. But every action, every nasty little missive literally screams that you fear her. I just don’t get it.

And I would like to add that the bitterness and hatred women display toward Palin is truly bewildering to me. Palin represents the achievements of everything women have struggled to overcome for years. She has excelled in a “man’s” world. She appears to have been a good mother and wife and balanced her professional aspirations with same rather well. And she ain’t bad looking to cap it off.

Yet otherwise intelligent and assertive ladies such as Ms. Jones here, seem to literally hate her and everything about her. They can’t comment on her with at least a caveat and admission of what she has done that is good and may have advanced the causes of women nationwide, if not worldwide. It’s all negative, derisive and demeaning commentary. And if she happens to become the first Female President of the United States, will that be celebrated as you celebrated the election of the First Black, although supremely unqualified President? My guess is following typical liberal hypocrisy…No!

And that I just do not understand.

  29. You guys are so caught up in yourselves you have lost your ability to read and comprehend.

Show me where I said she was a genius or that she would make a great president? You can’t and you won’t admit your error so again, I’ll just move forward.

Because I don’t share your hatreds does not necessarily mean I admire, love, worship….all those other little liberal buzz words you like to use to discredit those who disagree with you.

I’m just saying I fail to understand why someone that is held in such low opinion and esteem generates such vitriol, venom and hatred from the exact ones who discredit her very existence.

And the only thing I can attribute it to is 1.) Fear, regardless your protestations and 2.) Shame. I think she makes the more radical liberals a little ashamed of themselves and they strike back the only way they can.

Anyway, if you want to take me to task over MY words and comments, please try to make accurate references to my words. Not what you think you read.

  30. The reason why Willow didn’t have to aim was because she was shooting a flash round which didn’t go past the end of the barrel. It was described as a round to distract a bear…not harm.

  31. Hank, with all due respect, while I don’t hate Ms Palin, I find that she has set the women’s movement back fifty years and continues to do so every time she shows that she knows nothing and expects to get by with a wink and a short skirt. There’s nothing wrong with her being a beautiful woman, but when that is all she brings to the table, she is riding on old values about women. She could have chosen to study and learn things, and use her charisma and charm for good. However, she quit her job amid a storm of ethics complaints — after her Trust Fund was deemed illegal.

My problem with Ms Palin is that she says one thing but has governed the opposite and furthermore that she was exceptionally abusive with her power and irresponsible about our freedoms as a leader. Ms Palin shows no respect for the 4th estate and never has, and that is bad for democracy. Ms Palin ran Wasilla like she had been “coronated” – the Frontiersman’s words, not mine. So abusive was her beginning that the citizens of Wasilla started a recall campaign against her. They then hired someone to do her job for her at great expense to the tax payer, having lost faith in her ability to do her job as a mayor of a very small town.

I’ve written plenty on Palin’s policies and her actual record. Now, tell me why Palin refuses to take questions with any media other than her fan club propagandists (aka, her employer)? Just when will she discuss her record instead of running a campaign of myth?

As it is, she offers us nothing but myth to report on because she refuses to participate in serious debate or even take a real press conference. She only offers up other people’s ideas on her FB page and tweets out distortions and flat out lies on twitter.

Since she’s running for President based on this false myth, it falls to us to fact-check the myth. While you may not enjoy this process, it is part of a democracy.

You are entitled to your own opinions and I’m glad to see you articulate them cleanly, but when you want to talk about the facts of her record, expect the folks here to know the truth. It’s not hate you see here; it’s love for this country. Ms Palin’s supposed political positions are not the issue, though I would like very much to have that discussion since she was not a fiscal conservative by any stretch of the imagination. Do you want to talk about her record?

  32. I won’t stand up for Palin, but I think this article’s interpretation is way out there. They went camping, people were enjoying themselves, and Gosslin did nothing but complain.

Even her own kids, when asked if they wanted to stay or leave, said “stay.” Her reply? “Fine. Goodbye. You’re not a Gosslin anymore. You’re a Palin now.”

I’m all about slamming Palin when it is warranted (as it OFTEN is), but this is really a bit of a stretch. We dilute of our own arguments when we reach so far to bash Palin. Let’s be smarter about this.

  33. What BS.

Palin is the producer of this show she got to pick out the worst shots of Kate and used them to make herself look like something she isn’t. Palin has a cabin, she isn’t known for camping in real life – this was a bunch of baloney.

Her show is political propaganda, and is a violation of our traditions here. Politicians pay for ad time. They don’t get paid to sell a lie about their lives. Anyone defending this crap is one of the few Palin fans left. Go ahead. I hope you’re successful because I’d like nothing more than to see her run in 2012. I will be the one laughing at the Rethuglicans.

  34. “…I find that she has set the women’s movement back fifty years…”

Beauty Queen, Mayor, Governor, Individually wealthy, (from appearances) Good Wife, Mother and family oriented, appears to have reasonably good family values, chosen to run for the V.P., and quite possibly a candidate for and a better than even chance to be the first Female President of the United States.

I guess at that I would question what you feel advances the women’s movement?

  35. Hank – I’m a woman – I’m from Alaska – and I’m not affiliated with any political party. Palin is far from what women have strived to become. She claims to be a Christian – yet was blessed by a witch doctor. I don’t know one Christian that would ask a witch doctor to bless them. Check her record as the Mayor of Wasilla – she changed the city budget to remove the money for police evidence gathering in rape crimes and shifted it to the victim’s insurance to pay. What? It’s the victims fault they got raped so they should pay? I’d guess that the majority, if not all cities, towns, boroughs, etc., include in their law enforcement budgets the funds for evidence gathering – regardless of the crime. If you dig deeper into her past you’ll probably discover as governor, she cut funding for special education programs until she had a son who was mentally handicapped. She’s also a straight out liar. Check the transcripts on the Troopergate investigation. She/her attorney, on eight different occasions, declared they would cooperate fully with the investigation and supported the individual hired by her own State legislature to do the investigation. When it came time to cooperate, she hired a personal lawyer and began claiming that all along she stated that the Personnel Board (all her personal appointees) should conduct the investigation. She’s only about serving herself – that’s the bottom line.

  36. Hank! Did you even read my response to you? I answered your questions. I explained it in detail. Here it is again:
What’s not to dislike about Sarah Palin?

  37. I’m not sure I find much of substance in this comment and I don’t think it is responsive to my question of essentially, if you assert Palin has not advanced the women’s movement, what do you feel advances the women’s movement?”

But at least, thank you for not calling me names! :-)

  38. interesting, someone points out a flaw in the post and suddenly Uffda is a Palin defender and a Palinbot?

There are a number of flaws with this post – the first being that it pretends to be a review of the TV show while just being a bash of Sarah Palin.

Then the post acts as if Palin’s show is the only reality show that is scripted. I have some news for you, they all are to a certain degree.

And then to say Kate Gosselin is real and genuine? she is the biggest poser of them all.

I don’t agree with Palin’s politics either. But when you view anyone who disagrees with you as an enemy, doesn’t that make you the same as those you are criticizing? If you attack anyone who voices a dissenting opinion, what kind of credibility do you expect to have?

  39. Why can’t you read? The post says that all reality shows are scripted to a certain extent, but that they run the cameras all of the time. Maybe you should check the author’s bio. She works in TV so I would guess she knows more than you do about it. At any rate your argument is stupid, because you’re trying to strawman the point that this entire show is nothing but scripted talking points and most reality tv shows are not written to shape a political image.

She clearly said Kate was genuine as a whiner but thanks for that strawman fail.

Your “opinion” is not worth respect when you have to alter reality to hold it. Why don’t you respond to the truth that no other politician has done this? Why don’t you defend Palin’s hate for anyone who disagrees with her? Why don’t you defend how Christian it was of her to make her guest feel like crap and then edit the show to make Kate look even worse?

  40. And here’s a news flash: Kate G isn’t editing her show to make herself look good, she got used and she used TLC. It was a money arrangement. Palin got paid to make herself look like something she isn’t. And you are defending that? Wow. What in the hell is wrong with you and why don’t you even care about this country enough to want politicians who will take questions from the press and not use TV shows to sell propaganda?

  41. Hank and Sarah Jones (and Shiva) – nice exchange of thoughts and opinions. articulate and clear.

Unfortunately many (though not all) of the other posts are confirming what Hank has been saying. There seems to be the general view here of “if you are not for us, then you must be against us.”

TruthRocks said it – “There is simply nothing else left to feel about a person who publicly degrades anyone who doesn’t agree with her, …” Yet that is exactly what I am seeing here. Someone has a different opinion and many people here respond in the same fashion that you accuse Sarah Palin of doing.

    Statements such as:
    – “But then again, facts never seem to bother you bots.” People here like to refer to others as “bots” when they have a dissenting opinion.
    – “If you dig deeper into her past you’ll probably discover as governor, she cut funding for special education programs until she had a son who was mentally handicapped. ” Any facts to back this up? of course not.
    – “It’s like clockwork with the Palinbots. You think if you defend her on every website, you’ll add to your little clique.” Now the bots are forming a clique.
    – “Just saw a tweet from a bot complaining that this blog is “mean spirited”.” More bots.

people, opinions are not facts, no matter how many times you repeat them. They are meant to be discussed and debated.

And why are the Palin supports considered bots? Is it because they all have similar answers and responses? sounds a lot like what I have been reading here – similar comments, answers, and responses. I guess we have two “bot” armies fighting it out.

  42. hmmm, did I defend Palin anywhere in my post? No. So where are the “why don’t you defend …” coming from.

once again, someone posted a dissenting opinion here and is being attacked – and in areas completely unrelated to the post.

You are correct that the author states about the other shows being scripted, I simply left out the work “heavily” that I meant to type. And this is enough for you to vehemently attack me. Many “reality” shows are as scripted as Palins show, thus why are they called reality shows? It is a genre of tv that has little to do with being scripted or not.

I do know the author’s bio – but this is not a TV review. This is an anti-Palin post that is attacking her for her TV show. Two very different things.

and in response to your follow-on post, I care very much about my country. My reply was not about politics in any way. And I don’t think I defended Palin or her show in my reply. Yet in your urge to attack anyone who disagrees you seem to be reading much more into my words than was originally intended, causing you to strongly attack me.

And that, BTW, is really what my original reply was all about – attacking and insulting people with whom you do not agree. And you provided yet another example of that behavior.

  43. JT, I disagre with you. The authors did review the TV show. It is boring as a show (see the dropping ratings) and it lacks authenticity which is what drives most “reality” shows.

They then explain why Palin chose to sell manufactured moments instead of real moments. How is that not a review? And who said it was a review of a TV show only – this is a political site so the point is, did Palin achieve her political agenda with this show? The answer is no in their opinion (and I’ve yet to read a review that thinks she has done anything but lose supporters with this show).

  44. In the typical liberal fashion you have it completely wrong. I find it amazing that TMZ can portray the show in the light of reality yet your “column” is so far off. I’m not a Sarah fan however; the one good thing she’s done for the GOP is focus your attention on stupidity such as this. I’m glad when I Google real political issues, your site is nowhere to be found.

Good luck in 2012, America is tired of you and your ilk. Even the President is tired of you.

  45. ” I admire, love, worship….all those other little liberal buzz words you like to use to discredit those who disagree with you.”

Oh yeah baby, but then again no conservative ever called Obama the messiah, that liberals worshiped him etc etc etc.

Several people have responded to you about why some of us feel the way we do about her. None of the emotions have to do with shame or fear. She offers nothing to be afraid of, nor anything we should be ashamed of. Nothing. Nada. Period. She is an object of ridicule to many of us, much like Obama is to many republicans. I think you know that.

  46. Mr English, first of all calling a show boring is not a review. BTW, I very much agree with that statement, I watched 5 minutes of a previous episode and almost fell asleep. Would I watch this one? no way. but I did watch a recap clip and enjoyed how when Kate was whining and asked her kids if they wanted to stay, a couple of them said yes.

But you are twisting the words of even the original author. The “authenticity” statement was about Palin, not the show. The exact words were: “Palin is overly made up and quite simply lacks the authenticity necessary to endear her to American TV audiences.” And I am sure you will disagree with me and state that since the show is about Palin and she is the central theme, the statement is therefor about the show. So be it.

There is one thing I am confused by that maybe you can help me out with. Most of the people posting here clearly think the show is a travesty and is showing some of the negative aspects of Ms. Palin. And thus the show it ruining any credibility that she has. If so, then why not encourage more people to watch the show so that more will see these flaws?

  47. Since you keep running around in circles, I guess you don’t really want an answer to your questions. Many people have repeatedly responded as to why they think so little of Palin. WE DON’T LIKE HER. We have stated numerous reasons why. You just keep coming back with another round of “I still don’t get it”. You never will.

Your failure to understand is not our problem, it is yours. We tried.

  48. I’ll take a wild guess Shiva, maybe Fox news? Haha. Cause we all know they are the “fair and balanced” ones. Did you know Obama is tired of us? Thank God for this person or I wouldn’t have know it. Hahaha.

  49. Have you considered that maybe this is part of what is wrong with politics in America today? When “We don’t like her” is a common political stance, how will our country progress?

And don’t tell me it is not a political stance. This is a political blog (and that has been pointed out to me several times today), so statements made here are therefore political stances.

The great politicians of our country (from all political parties) did not take the position of “Your failure to understand is not our problem, it is yours.” They understood the need to understand the audience and reword the position so that the audience could understand.

Unfortunately much of the political scene in America today is simply soundbites and vehement opinion statements spread over blogs and twitter feeds – on which many people base decisions.

Do I like Palin? no. But I don’t like Jerry Brown or Peloski either. can you tell my political views from that statement? not in the least. My liking a politician has little to do with who I vote for.

Unfortunately for many people it is more about who they like that a true understanding of the issues and where the candidate stands on those issues.

While I think President Obama was the best democratic candidate, I was quite disappointed by the large number of people that kept telling be that “a vote for Obama is a vote for change.” Yet very few of them could tell me in what way.

So I would simply respond “Yes, We can!” Most of them didn’t get it.

  50. well, when I googled “real political issues” the top 2 sites are:

http://www.udarrell.com/ – a left leaning (and poorly put together) site that focuses on “The Real Political Issues are being “mischaracterized” by the Corporate Media”

    and

    http://www.votenader.org/issues/ – Ralph Nader’s ’08 campaign site.

So I guess that is where you go according to google :)

And you will be glad to know that “Panelists agree: Negative political ads distract from real issues …” I wouldn’t have known this if I hadn’t read it on google.

  51. Do you really think Palin reviews thousands of hours of footage and picks the shots she wants?

And yet again you are attacking someone who probably agrees with your “political” views because they dared to express an opinion that differs from you.

Like me, El Vorpal dared to be critical of the original blog and you somehow twist this into him/her being a Palin fan. El made a very good statement that you seem to be completely missing through your hate filled hazy view – “We dilute of our own arguments when we reach so far to bash Palin. Let’s be smarter about this.”

This person is on target with this statement.

  52. Don’t forget Matha Coakley’s foreign relationship experience because she is much more qualified than Sarah Palin. I believe her credentials are (in her own words) “I have a sister who lives overseas, and she’s been in England and now lives in the Middle East,” going on to say that she has visited her sister.

And just in case that isn’t enough, we are more than covered, as she later reassured us: “we have a commander in chief. We have a secretary of state. We have a senior senator in Massachusetts, John Kerry, who has a ton of experience with foreign relations.”

Where was Tina Fey with that one?

I don’t know how we can pick from all these overqualified candidates.

  53. I am always amused when someone shows up, appoints themselves judge and jury of everyone here, decides who is right, who is fair, and what the parameters for judging everyone else are – and then begins making pronouncements from on high, never once taking a position they have to defend. Just calling everyone else’s into question. Sarah Palin is exceptionally divisive due to the hate she spews. So anyone here who is trying to call into question the very sane reaction of negativity to Palin is suspect.

  54. Dear JT:

Palin herself tweeted out that she was editing the show. Thanks for playing. You seem really concerned with her image. I mean, really, really concerned. Please seek help. She’s just celebrity trash who is going to run for President and fall on her face and be humiliated in ways you can’t even dream of. If you can’t take the rather innocuous review on this site, you’re going to need big time help when 2012 runs around. I’ve seen plenty of nasty things said about her in other places. Why don’t you wander over to another site and troll them.

  55. Hank with all DUE respect…quit thinking with your little head.
You will get further in life that way. Just sayin..

  56. I guess queen Esther is the only one who can be mean spirited?
Didn’t we see that last night on her TeeVee show? What a spiteful mean girl she is?

  57. JT, your very 1st sentence mischaracterizes what was said.

Nobody on either side of this skirmish would believe Sarah “reviews thousands of hours of footage”, so why throw this out there at all?

Do you think it makes you seem more credible, w/ this 1st “victory” feather in your cap?

For all I know, it actually works at the sites you frequent.

I think if El V knew Sarah better, he or she wouldn’t think the article was a “stretch”

  58. Well stated, DC!
“Sarah Palin is exceptionally divisive due to the hate she spews. So anyone here who is trying to call into question the very sane reaction of negativity to Palin is suspect.”

  59. Well said JT. This “article” is so full of mistakes I can’t even be bothered to make corrections.

Jason and Sarah: News flash. Kate is the blonde, Palin is the brunette.

  60. I’m not trying to argue with your point, but as it happens, Uffda, proud dispenser of the “maroon” label, actually IS a prominent and unwavering Palin supporter on Conservatives4Palin who shows up regularly on this and other forums to defend Palin faithfully, no matter what the criticism. That’s a site would particularly benefit from your comment that being critical doesn’t merit being attacked automatically as an enemy.

  61. I agree; what’s with all of the hating on Sarah Palin?

There’s so much negative energy sent towards her and she’s not even a candidate!

  62. I agree with Hank.

Do you think Hilary is all warm & cuddly & nice? You’re entire paragraph could be about Hilary.

    Wake up!

  63. Gosslin did not last 2 second Her and her husband supported them selves by fishing. for years more then any of these idiots making comments ever did.

  64. I always find it interesting how two people can watch the same show or read the same book and come away with such different opinions. Very well written article even though I completely disagree with your viewpoint.
