Santorum And Gingrich Lose Their Minds In An Orgy Of Obama Derangement

Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich responded to Obama killing their phony war on religion by going on a full on orgy of Obama Derangement.

Here is Rick Santorum on CNN’s This Situation Room via Time:

Santorum said, “This is a President trying to impose his values, rolling over religious liberty, rolling over freedom of conscience and rolling over freedom of speech. This is a clear indication that the President has war on a freedom, not just the freedom of conscience, but the war on freedom because he thinks he knows best about what people should have and shouldn’t have, and that should outrage people of faith and no faith.”

At CPAC, Newt Gingrich claimed that Obama isn’t waging war on the Catholic Church now, but look out if he gets reelected, “This is a man who is deeply committed — if he wins reelection, he will wage war on the Catholic Church the morning after he is reelected.”

The problem is that what Gingrich and Santorum claimed the president would do is exact opposite of what Obama really said, “Now, as we move to implement this rule, however, we’ve been mindful that there’s another principle at stake here –- and that’s the principle of religious liberty, an inalienable right that is enshrined in our Constitution. As a citizen and as a Christian, I cherish this right….With today’s announcement, we’ve done that. Religious liberty will be protected, and a law that requires free preventive care will not discriminate against women.”

Obama made his statement hours before Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum spoke today, but both candidates chose to pretend that the president said nothing about protecting religious liberty.

Boys and Girls, this is what Obama Derangement Syndrome looks like.

It doesn’t matter what the real President Obama actually says or does, in the minds of the Obamaly Deranged an alternate universe exists where the America’s first Muslim/Marxist/Socialist president is hard at work waging on Christianity and all personal freedoms.

It was wise for the president to stop talking to Republican politicians like they are sane rational human beings with whom he shares a common reality. Facts can’t penetrate the Obama Derangement bubble. What the president said today was the exact opposite of what Santorum and Gingrich claimed his position was, but none of this matters to those who hatred of this president have pushed them into ODS.

Santorum and Gingrich were well aware of what the president said, but they also know that they can’t acknowledge this reality without losing the support of Republican primary voters.

The real reason why the Republican Party is poised to lose the 2012 has little to do with the candidates. The root of the problem is that the GOP’s base is demanding that their candidates come dancing off the crazy cliff with them.

Republican primary voters are forcing their candidates to move so far to the right that they are making themselves unelectable.

Conservative primary voters are anti-Obama junkies who need their Obama Derangement fix, and they are going to support the candidate who gives them the best high. The majority of GOP primary voters aren’t trying to win an election. They are feeding an addiction to hate.

Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney are the enablers. But for the Republican Party, Obama Derangement Syndrome is a fatal disease for which there can be no cure.

  1. Here is an example of the CPAC Extremists true values – I wish someone would do a “meetup” with Santorum complete w.vids and pics – if he and his wife are not getting it on because Rick only has sex to have babies – you KNOW he’s getting it somewhere. Do as I say, NOT as I do, that’s my privilege! Hate gays, hate women, hate sex – yeah, right – most of these Commonsense Conservative Christians are married arranging hookups at CPAC. I’m sure some of these trollers are leading workshops and presentations, etc.

Santorum’s CPAC crowds real Christian values:

  2. It is more like an orgy of stupidity. Neither of these assholes will be president, in fact, they are guaranteeing this brilliant man another term. Kiss off desperados.

  3. Well Ricky, arnt you running because you think you know best? Or are you running because you cant keep up with things?

Even After Obama’s statement he carry’s on. This is great. I hope he does the same tomorrow and the next month so people can see how nuts he is.

This seriously could cause a syndrome for which the 3 might have to be put in the hospital. They have 8 months, 3 weeks and 3 days left to carry what the Pres beats them to every time. Should lead to more lying if that’s possible.

THIS from the guy who pretty well wants to outlaw contraception? Someone, release the hounds…. NOW!

I guess irony is lost on the ignorant….

  6. They’re as nuts on this as they were on the losing proposition for the GOP was that was named Terry Schiavo. How do they talk themselves into this crazed frenzy?

  7. What’s really, really sad is that these idiots get away with saying such lies and nonsense on cable news, and are never faced with a “But wait, the President just said…….”. Pathetic!

  8. I think he was on the Wolf Blizted program on CNN. Wolf would never counter what a gop person says

  9. Projection is standard operating procedure with the GOP. I’m pretty certain it’s in the manual. :P

What’s truly disgusting about Santorum’s hateful spew is the clear and intentional implication that it is simply obvious “truth” that HIS values and beliefs are superior and represent “most Americans”. (the “other” Americans being, or course, terrorists, Marxists, Communists, Nazis, welfare leeches and Illegals)

Obviously, “forcing” women to have access to birth control if they want it is an attack of the “freedom” to forcibly do without, and an “attack” on the “religious liberty” of those who want to tell people if they can’t stop themselves from having sex, then they DESERVE to have unwanted pregnancies.

Just like the way they consider equality for gays to mean “special treatment”, which obviously is not “fair” or “right”, but lose their tiny minds when they can’t erect monuments to their religion inside government structures. …Or if any other religion wants to build something anywhere they might accidentally have to SEE it.

They are truly sick and utterly unAmerican.

  10. I’m pretty sure that clinical tests would prove the right wing brain is genetically incapable of detecting irony or having any kind of self awareness whatsoever.

  11. Dear Jason,

I appreciate your insights to everything! It’s great that you respond to your readers! I’m 67 yrs young & finally feel like I’ve found kindred spirits! As a woman, I’m offended by the GOP! No wonder there’s so many haters of everything & everyone! It gives me hope for my grandchildren! Thanks!.Marla

  12. The more and more public exposure Willard, Newt, and Ricky subject themselves to, the more and more they damage themselves. They are totally bereft of any ideas on how to run the country other than the stale, discredited ones that got us into this mess. That’s why they run on cultural wars from last century because they know that there are Republicans gullible enough to swallow their nonsense. These idiots like the taste of the “red meat” that Willard, Newt, and Ricky toss them too much to give it up. The best thing that could happen to this country is if the base and the politicians who enable their regressiveness find themselves marginalized completely and permanently. Their hatred of this president completely overshadows their ability to discern what is best for this country.

  13. How dare they call my President a Bangladeshi fabric! They’re going to be saree if they keep it up! That man is 100% whole cloth American!

  14. Obama Derangement goes both ways. Point out that he is to the right of GWB in every substantial issue (Bank/Corporate Bailouts, Opposition to Single Payer – but willing to mandate paying private companies, Wars based on lieswithout even a figleaf of congressional approval beforehand, extraordinary rendition for American citizens without due process, drone killings, indefinite detention for whistleblowers, continuing illegal wiretapping, tax cuts for the rich, etc… ) and suddenly people accuse you of being a teabagger.
Anyone who thinks Obama is anything but a far-right wing politician is delusionally deranged.
Throw Obama under the same bus he threw his core supporters over (the ones his inner circle refer to as “F*cking retards” and let’s elect someone in 2012 who is not a war profiteers wet dream!

  15. I’d like to suggest a movement among liberals and progressives called:

    What about OUR moral values?

The implication among these extremists and a theme propagated in the media is that everyone NOT Catholic has no values at all. Those who accept contraception do so for profoundly important values, religious or secular. We desire healthy families through family planning, desire to be responsible people by not having children we cannot support, desire to care for the world by not over populating.

We also believe that when it comes to institutions that accept tax money that they have a profound Constitutional obligation to follow the laws on equal access. That is a moral good in American democracy. That means equal opportunity in hiring and access to benefits afforded everyone outside those institutions.

    So: What about OUR values?

I am NOT giving this up just because there is a settlement. This is a much larger and more far reaching issue. Dominionist Christians and their fundamentalist Catholic brethren are trying to create a nation of embedded INequality. They want preferential treatment and an end to equal opportunity. They believe there is a hierarchy of human value beginning with the rich who accept (not necessarily practice) the conservative, faux Biblical standards they have set. The rich must lead. All the rest of us must serve them.

This doesn’t die with the issue of contraception being more or less settled. This requires us to speak out every single time they profess to be superior to the rest of us. No matter if you’re a believer or not – we are all EQUAL under the Constitution, and we have to fight to reclaim this. We all saw in the contraceptive debate that ONLY a handful of people were given the courtesy of having their values held sacrosanct.

What about OUR values? Time to press this issue LOUDLY!

  16. Fox news has all these male chauvinistic bishop’s fussing about the government violating their religious freedom by forcing them to provide birth control health coverage for women. Not one woman was on the panel. These bishop’s don’t even preach against birth control from their pulpits. Most of the women take some kind of birth control for various reason anyway. These bishops say they want the government out of their business. Well then the government should take away their tax exempt status. Anyway, where were all these bishops at when some of their fellow bishops were molesting young boys violating their conscious and freedom. A bunch of hypocrites.

  17. Who? Romney? Nope.
    Santorum? Nope.
    Newt? Hell no?
    Paul? Nope.
    Than who?
The only logical conclusion to your question is…
    Obama 2012

    Best Regards,

    Fokingawesome.

  18. You’d think the Republicans must WANT him to get re-elected!

Personally, I think painting him as “a far right politician” is pretty much derangement, especially seeing the way you have to distort or exaggerate the facts to make your “case”.

And if you recall, he wasn’t “opposed” to single payer, he originally wanted it but was convinced the whole thing would get defeated, so settled for what he thought he could actually get.

I have to admit though, just like in 2008 I’m slightly annoyed that there isn’t even a choice. I’d like to have TWO reasonable candidates to choose between…

  19. I think it’s just another target of opportunity. I doubt they REALLY think this is an assault on their “values”, I think it’s another ginned-up fake issue to hate Obama openly about. And, as always, it just makes them look like creeps and idiots. You have to admit, this President does a great job of getting wingnuts to out themselves! :))

  20. Obama not a reasonable candidate? What would you consider a reasonable one?

When he was elected, I felt a bit of hope for the first time in a long time. Then 2010 happened and that hope vanished.

  21. Perfect example of neo-cons hypocrisy. Santorum, while forcing his narrow-minded religious dogma on the entire world, accusing Obama of forcing his will on a small minority of medical providers WHO RECEIVE FEDERAL FUNDING!!!

Hey Ricky… are you also going to fight to stop forced funding of Viagra and all the other boner pills?

You’re not only a sexist, but a homophobe, racist, and a bigot. I simply cannot take you seriously because you’re a myopic religious nutcase who has no clue what Jesus really fought for.

  22. I see it as a brilliant tactic by the President to highlight the frothing at the mouth idiocy of the GOP positions. Shout out to the Superpacs for spreading it far and wide across the media. If people are backing away from them now, just think how sick of them everyone will be in October.

    Kiss Speaker Boehner goodbye.
Of course, I wouldn’t mind getting rid of some of the old warhorses like Reid and Inoyue (D-HI)

  23. As cohesive a group as the nonreligious aren’t, I think I speak for all of us by saying that Santorum knows noting about this group or what worries it.
