Obama’s Vow of Justice for Libya Attack Is More a Guarantee than a Promise

President Obama has vowed that justice will be done to those who carried out the deadly attack on the US embassy in Libya. Here’s why Obama’s vow is more a guarantee than a promise.

The president said, “The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack,” Obama said in a statement in the White House Rose Garden. “Make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.”

President Obama paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, “Yesterday was already a painful day – 9/11,” he said, “then last night we learned news of this attack. As Americans we must never, never forget our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it… sometimes to lay down their lives for it.”

Obama voiced his support for religious freedom while denouncing senseless violence, “While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.”

The president also uttered a statement that should put anyone involved with this attack anywhere in the world on notice, “We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice will be done. Make no mistake, justice will be done.”

Due to his track record of delivering justice to terrorists, Obama’s vow that justice will be done carries some extra weight. Something tells me that the people who are responsible for this attack aren’t much longer for this earth, because this president has shrugged aside the politically symbolic Bush style secret prisons and torture for more direct method of doling out justice.

Whether you agree or disagree with his methods, when Obama states that justice will done there are only two options. Either the Libyan government takes care of this itself, or the United States will take care of it for them. As much as Mitt Romney wishes this president was Jimmy Carter, Obama is in reality more along the lines of fearless bounty hunter who has used the power of the United States government to track down terrorists and eliminate them.

When this president promises justice, he delivers.
