In Omaha for a closed to the press fundraiser for her husband Friday, Mrs. Romney was supposed to give interviews to several reporters but canceled due to the controversy over her blow up at Republicans on a radio interview, in which she ordered Mitt’s Republican critics to “stop it.”
Omaha.com reported:
She had scheduled interviews with The World-Herald and other reporters but canceled after controversy erupted this week over her comments to a public radio station in Iowa about her husband’s Republican critics.
She appeared at the luncheon, $250-per-plate fundraiser at the Embassy Suites and La Vista Conference Center. The event was closed to reporters.
Remember when Mitt Romney told the donors at the Florida fundraiser that he wasn’t using his wife Ann too much so that people didn’t get sick of her? That day appears to have arrived. It may have been her meltdown at Mitt’s Republican critics that did it.
After saying how “hard” campaigning was, Ann told Radio Iowa:
“Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.”
Ann Romney was supposed to be Mitt’s secret weapon, but apparently that isn’t working out very well. For now, reporters will be stuck with Mitt, who answered a reporter’s questions about whether he was going to start campaigning harder now by saying, “Ha ha. We’re in the stretch aren’t we? Look at those clouds. It’s beautiful. Look at those things.”
The debates should be entertaining to say the least.
Mrs. Romney’s plane made an emergency landing in Denver, Colorado due to an electrical fire, but thankfully all were safe. She landed later in Los Angeles.
