Immigration Reform is Destroying the Republicans as Sarah Palin Trashes Marco Rubio

Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page to trash Marco Rubio, and do her part to help the Republican Party destroy itself over immigration reform.

Palin wrote on her Facebook page that:

Just like they did with Obamacare, some in Congress intend to “Pelosi” the amnesty bill. They’ll pass it in order to find out what’s in it. And just like the unpopular, unaffordable Obamacare disaster, this pandering, rewarding-the-rule-breakers, still-no-border-security, special-interests-ridden, 24-lb disaster of a bill is not supported by informed Americans.

I am an ardent supporter of legal immigration. I’m proud that our country is so desirable that it has been a melting pot making a diverse people united as the most exceptional nation on earth for over two centuries. But I join every American with an ounce of common sense insisting that any discussion about immigration must center on a secure border. The amnesty bill before the Senate is completely toothless on border security.

It’s beyond disingenuous for anyone to claim that a vote for this bill is a vote for security. Look no further than the fact that Senator Rubio and amnesty supporters nixed Senator Thune’s amendment that required the feds to finally build part of a needed security fence before moving forward on the status of illegal immigrants who’ve already broken the law to be here. And if shooting down the border fence wasn’t proof enough, they blew another chance by killing Senator Paul’s “Trust But Verify” amendment which required the completion of a fence in five years and required Congress to vote on whether the border is actually secure before furthering any immigration measures. And then they blew it yet again, nixing Senator Cornyn’s “Results” amendment, which also required border enforcement standards. Now the Senate’s pro-amnesty crowd is offering a fig leaf to security via the Corker-Hoeven Amendment, but this is really nothing more than empty promises. It’s amnesty right now and border security… eh, well, someday.

On and on she rambled for several more paragraphs about how the immigration reform bill is just like Obamacare, which it isn’t, but Palin needed something to tie this scatterbrained bit of self-promotion together.

There was always the possibly that the segment of the Republican Party that hates Mexican immigrants would destroy themselves and the party in their attempt to stop an immigration reform bill. It looks exactly like that’s what is happening.

Palin is an opportunistic vulture who feeds on anger and division, so it should come as no surprise that she swooped in to take shots at Rubio. After all, Sarah is back on Fox News and she has a “rogue outsider” brand to rebuild. She needs those SarahPAC dollars to fund the lifestyle to which she has grown accustomed.

Sen. Rubio has managed to turn the base of the party against him, and ruin any hopes he had of running in 2016 by betting that people like Sarah Palin were capable of putting practical politics ahead of the empty headed racism that defines much of what many current self identified Republicans stand for. With immigration falling, the phrase border security has become code for discriminating against Hispanics. The racist wing of the GOP isn’t fooling anybody with their “border security” concerns.

The old has beens like Palin are taking out the new up and comers like Rubio because they don’t want to see the Republican Party change. Sarah Palin is fine with the Republican Party losing elections, because the more they lose, the angrier the rank and file are. The angrier they are, the more likely they are to keep giving Sarah Palin money.

The Republicans aren’t just alienating Hispanic voters with their antics. They are destroying themselves, and Sarah Palin is trying to push her way to the front of the parade that will lead to a generation of national Republican electoral defeats. Marco Rubio’s big mistake was he was foolish enough to believe that the party that sees everything through racial eyes, wouldn’t eventually turn their racist gaze towards him.
