Ted Nugent Defiantly Gives Non-Apology For Calling President Obama A ‘Subhuman Mongrel’

During an interview with conservative radio host Ben Ferguson on Friday, has-been rocker and right-wing nutjob Ted Nugent gave a non-apology for his comments last month where he called the President a ‘subhuman mongrel.’ Nugent went out of his way to make sure he did not offer an apology to President Obama for his offensively racist remarks, instead apologizing to those it may have harmed (presumably Texas GOP gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott.)

“I do apologize-not necessarily to the President-but on behalf of much better men than myself.”

Later on in the interview, he stated that this controversy shouldn’t hurt Abbott in the long run. Nugent also took that opportunity to get some shots in at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis.

“Believe me, I think in the final analysis, the dishonesty of the media, the dishonesty of the Wendy Davis campaign and her entire staff, that appears to be negative press right now, I believe that it is galvanizing Texans who know that Davis is the enemy of a Texas lifestyle and that Greg Abbott will serve we the people of Texas perfectly.”

Obviously, Nugent is not sorry for what he said. Instead, he is just sorry that the comments backfired on him and ended up bringing a lot of negative media coverage to Abbott and the rest of the GOP. He still thinks that Obama is less than human. He still wants to go around and talk tough about using his machine gun on Obama and Hillary Clinton. He is a tough talker who never backs up his words with any action. In essence, he is as cowardly as it comes.

Will this have a negative effect on Abbott? On this, Nugent is probably right. It won’t. The double-standard with the GOP is that they can associate themselves with extreme bigots and it is perfectly OK. Let Martin Bashir angrily refute Sarah Palin’s use of slavery and he has to get off the air. However, Palin herself is apparently given carte blanche to say any idiotic thing she wants and the GOP has no issues with it.

The same goes for the rest of the Tea Party nut brigade. It is a continuous race to the bottom to see who can say the most offensive and insane thing and see if they can get away with it. Go up and down the radio dial and all you see is a vast wasteland of stupidity and ignorance. The politicians within the Republican Party see this and think they need to play to that lunacy, so they constantly bottom-feed. This is how you end up with a stupid bigot like Ted Nugent acting as a surrogate for high-level GOP candidates and campaigning on their behalf.
