Hillary Clinton Delivers a Withering Attack on Republicans For Exploiting Benghazi

Hillary Clinton dedicated an entire chapter of her new book to Benghazi, and she pulled no punches on Republicans who are exploiting the deaths of four Americans.

According to Politico, Clinton wrote in her upcoming book, “Hard Choices”:

“Those who exploit this tragedy over and over as a political tool minimize the sacrifice of those who served our country.”

(On the House Select Committee on Benghazi), “I will not be a part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans. It’s just plain wrong, and it’s unworthy of our great country. Those who insist on politicizing the tragedy will have to do so without me.”

….

(On the Republican claims of unanswered questions), “Many of these same people are a broken record about unanswered questions. But there is a difference between unanswered questions and unlistened to answers.”

Clinton’s quotes above are the exact reason the Republican attempts to use Benghazi to derail her 2016 candidacy are backfiring. Former Sec. Clinton is correct. Republicans are exploiting the deaths of four Americans. Their immediate fundraising off of the dead is something that the media has found so distasteful that they have turned their backs on their entire select committee sideshow.

Benghazi isn’t going to work because it isn’t an issue. Republicans can scream about unanswered questions all that they want, but these questions have been answered in six previous investigations, but Republicans are refusing to listen. If the Republican nominee in 2016 tries to use Benghazi as a political tactic against Clinton, he will regret it.

The Republican Party has less than nothing to use against Hillary Clinton. Their main attack will probably be that electing Clinton means four more years of Obama, but that won’t work either, because the Clintons are their own brand. They aren’t identified with Obama. They stand alone in American politics.

America appears to be ready for Hillary, and Hillary Clinton is ready for the Republican attacks on Benghazi.

  1. This is why the Republicans are terrified of her running for the Presidency and obtaining the democratic nomination. She is straightforward, tough, intelligent, sharp, witty.

Nobody on the right can beat her, and they know it. Go HILARY!!

  2. Providing she runs in 2016 the repubs have absolutely no one to run against her. Whoever they put up will get shredded in a debate. For her it will be like a battle of wits with an unarmed man. There I will be sitting with popcorn and iced tea in hand.

  3. “But there is a difference between unanswered questions and unlistened to answers.”

Brilliant stuff in few words! When I see those on the (R) in Congress, I see people who are simply trying to fill empty space because they haven’t got a thing to do!

When I hear CONservatives and Tea Gaggers yell BENGHAZIII….I think of Birthers who have suddenly found a new cry…

  4. It’s quite obvious why the GOP is so afraid of her. A well-spoken, articulate, respected woman is their greatest fear.

The electorate has changed and the GOP doesn’t seem to realize that. I don’t know how they can miss it, but it’s right there in front of them. And the GOP – it’s philosophy – is not changing and if it does not change, if they don’t find a way back to the NEW center and actually GOVERN from the center, not just pay lip service to it, they will never win another national election again. It’s all right there…if one bothers to look.

  5. It bothers me greatly, Leslie, that there are so many states like Alabama where the governors are refusing to help their most needy constituents. Consider an email sent.

    Keep up the fight.

  6. The republican party chose to feed on fear, hate, and misguided religious fervor. All of their party planks, policies, and statements are submerged in the miasma of negativity. Playing Chicken Little worked for a little while, but the vast majority of Americans see that the sky isn’t falling and all the Chicken Littles are doomed to extinction. 2014 is just the beginning. 2016 will see the GOP turned into a minor regional party with little or no power to stop the actual governing of this country.

  7. Republicans are going to regret they ever stuck with BENGHAZI Mania. What was once an honest search for the truth, and a desire to find common strategies to prevent a similar episode, has turned into a nasty, finger-pointing, blaming the good guys approach by the shameless Republicans. Their aim IS to use this incident to jam their fingers in Obama and Hillary’s eyes. To no Avail. But the vultures keep picking at a dried up carcass….looking foolish in that attempt. HA!

  8. Paws:
It is no coincidence that all of those states with Republican Governors who are denying their citizens aid and comfort are in the “CONFEDERATE BELT”. Whose philosophy might be: Keep them needy, keep them away from the Democrat’s helping hand, and keep them ANGRY and in the Dark about who the spiteful deniers are. (THEM)
    I feel sorry for them in a way. {{{Sigh}}}

  9. Some on the Right keep floating the Jeb Bush balloon.

    This country must remember –
Jeb Bush was one of the signatories of the Project for a New American Century (neo-con) “manifesto”. He is one of the creators of the nightmare we have been enduring since 2000.
The actual website was taken down because it had so much information that showed their true objectives. The archive version I offer here.

Read closely, then tell me you will vote for Jeb Bush anyone?????

  10. djchefron:

I did not understand “where he is coming from” with that disjointed, confused, befuddled, frick-n-frack jab at Kerry and the Administration. Sounds like he, Issa, is covering his proverbial Arse. By the way, he may be on his meds when he wrote that.

  11. Can’t wait for Candidate Hillary to say:
“I voted for Iraq Action…Because We Were Viciously Lied To Regarding That War!”

  12. I love the way that former S.O.S. Clinton clarified how the Republicans trying to make political hay out of Benghazi don’t accept the honest answers to their questions. That’s because they are not concerned about the truth of Benghazi but are only trying to make her and President Obama look bad. If they were truly concerned about truth or about the victims and their families, they would have the humility to admit that their cutting funding for embassy security played a huge rule in that outcome. They have nothing of value to offer as a motivation for anyone but their lemmings to vote for them–only negativity, hatred, and the character smears that stem from their non-stop negativity and hatred.

  13. As long as they keep the House and Governors offices as well as the Supreme Court (Citizens United to name one example), they’ll limit her Presidency as they did Obama’s. The “no compromise” decision on the night Obama won in 2008 worked.

We have to learn to understand that the Presidency is far from the only game in town, and in eight years, we haven’t. A Hillary win won’t “part the seas and usher in a NEW Washington”. It won’t and can’t without other wins across the nation. We need to pay attention to 2014 first. They are doubling down and consolidating 2010, using 2016 talk as a diversionary cover. It’s working with the lame stream Beltway media for sure. Let’s not take our eyes off of the first task. 2014.

  14. when cheney, Libby, quale and vin Webber are involved,
l’ll stay away like the plague is about to rear it’s head again.

  15. I read the articles and you are correct. Reading them has shown me that even though I personally disliked their ideas their policy’s are far from the best interests of Americans. They all should be tried for treason and thrown in jail. I would no sooner vote for Jeb Bush or any other right wing war monger. They only look to enhance their wealth and their cronies. A good suit does not make a man. I forwarded the articles to a few of my family and friends to read. Thank you for this info.
