While Lying Through His Teeth Mitt Romney Calls Hillary Clinton Clueless

Mitt Romney can’t stop lying. On Meet The Press, Romney called Hillary Clinton clueless, while basing his claim on some ridiculous falsehoods.

Romney said:

I think you have to consider what’s happened in the world during the years that she was Secretary of State. You have to say it’s been a monumental bust, and then her most recent comments as she was rolling out the book she was asked whether the Bergdahl trade was one that presented a threat to the United States, and she came back with a clueless answer. She was clueless.

She said look, Bergdahl or these commandos don’t represent a threat to the United States. Well, of course they do, and she went on to say they only represent a threat to Afghanistan and Pakistan. Are you kidding? I mean, We’re in Afghanistan, and we’re in Afghanistan in part to protect America’s security. I think her clueless comments about the Bergdahl exchange, as well as her record as the Secretary of State are really going to be the foundation for how a Republican candidate is going to be the foundation for how a Republican candidate is able to take back the White House.

I know this is going to come as a surprise, but Mitt Romney was lying about Hillary Clinton’s comments. Here’s what Clinton said when she was first asked about Bergdahl’s release, “This young man, whatever the circumstances, was an American citizen — is an American citizen — was serving in our military. The idea that you really care for your own citizens and particularly those in uniform, I think is a very noble one. You don’t want to see these five prisoners go back to combat. There’s a lot that you don’t want to have happen. On the other hand you also don’t want an American citizen, if you can avoid it, especially a solider, to die in captivity. I think we have a long way to go before we really know how this is going to play out.”

She offered a deeper answer before her new book came out on NPR:

We don’t leave anybody behind. That is an operating principle. And once President Obama announced that we were going to be ending our combat mission and transitioning to a training and support presence, the clock was ticking on whether we would get Bergdahl back. You’re right that during the time I was there, we were trying to put together a much bigger deal, a deal that would get the Afghan government talking face-to-face with the Taliban, to try to resolve some of the points of controversy that exists between them. …

What I wanted was to broker a deal that would get them at the negotiating table with their Afghan governmental counterparts. It was a tougher deal, and it was a very difficult preliminary discussion about what it would take to bring that about.

All through the calculations we were going about making, was “we had to get Bergdahl back.” I mean, that was something that was a, an absolute condition for us. Of course, they’re not just going to sit there and say, ‘Oh, OK, we’ll do all of this.’ They wanted their five prisoners back from Guantanamo, and we had a lot of conditions that we wanted met before we could ever approach that. …

I’m not going to second-guess the decision that was made, and as I understand it, it was a decision backed by the State Department, the Defense Department and the intelligence community.

It is ironic that the most clueless presidential candidate in modern history is calling Hillary Clinton clueless. Romney had so many clueless moments as a candidate that it was difficult count them all. His big ones were his infamous 47% comments. His binders full of women remark at a presidential debate will go down in history. Romney told immigrants that they should self-deport, and this is a man who had his own polls telling him that he was going to beat Obama when every piece of objective data showed him losing the election.

Mitt Romney is the living definition of clueless, but he is always entitled and arrogant. It is this arrogance that gives him the ability to attack Hillary Clinton without even the slightest hint of reflection or self-doubt.

By the way, Romney continues to act an awful lot like a 2016 candidate. Even when he is not running for anything (right now), Mitt Romney is utterly incapable of telling the truth. The most clueless person in the conversation will always be Mitt Romney.
