Just when you thought you have seen everything, this pops up. A church is leading their flock to Jesus by bribing, I mean raffling off two Black Rain AR-15 semi-auto in Joplin, Missouri.

According to Raw Story:

“If we get people in the door, we get to preach the gospel,” said Heath Mooneyham, Ignite’s lead pastor. “If we can get more people to follow Jesus, I’ll give away 1,000 guns. I don’t care.” The give-away was part of an outreach by Ignite Church to make inroads with the male age 18 to 35 demographic.

“That’s the biggest black hole in our society,” Mooneyham explained.

The church has already made adjustments in an attempt to draw a younger male crowd with Sunday services start later (10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.), loud rock music, and a tattooed mohawked pastor. “We’re not trying to put on a show for anybody,” Mooneyham said. “We’re just dudes. Previously the church has sponsored shooting and hunting outings.

They’re not trying to put a show for anybody? Why then all the zany ideas? It seemed to fail miserably, so the church went one step further and decided to give away two rifles. What’s next? A Rocket Propelled Grenade like the ones Al Qaeda and the Taliban uses against the U.S. soldiers? As a matter of fact:

VIDEO: Justice Scalia suggests hand-held rocket launchers protected under Second Amendment

Scalia is willing to allow the people to shoot RPGs or even carry it around in public. Wow, just think, even more armed Christians courtesy of the local churches that want to attract more people to their congregation. The sad thing is, this may be in violation of the church’s tax status, but most ministers couldn’t care less…they are also violating their own dogma according to their good book:

Matthew 26:52-54

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”

Ephesians 6:12

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

None of these verses speak about taking arms nor did Jesus give His followers spears or swords, but to be humble and meek. But many speak about protection, and a firearm is merely a tool that can protect those for whom they love, so I guess

Psalms 23 vs. 4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Doesn’t work well, even though in the same Bible they speak about reads the following passage:

Matthew 5: 3-12

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children of God.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Why? Because according to their God:

Romans 12:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

Funny thing, liberals and atheists who don’t have firearms follow the Bible to a “T” and have no need for firearms. You’d think that they would be armed to the teeth, lo-and-behold, they have no fear of dying let alone getting robbed.

This is why I’m an atheist.

  1. Yeah, that’s what you need. People who go sit in a building and pray to some non existent air god to have firearms given to them to defend their delusional perception of reality. This segment of society is devolving more rapidly than I anticipated. I knew it would come one day but it is like a spreading disease. I guess we could call it Obamanitis?

  2. The type of people who preach guns in church are not Christians instead are Atheist and do not deserve the word of God, for they have no respect for it. I guarantee you Jesus nor God alike are in their Church when they gather.
Jesus said in Matthew 18 Vs 20; For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. These churches do not have two or more gathered in the name of Jesus. They gather in the name of NRA.

  3. I bet these were some nice church going people

(STAFFORD, TX) – A quiet neighborhood is rocked after a mother finds three of her children dead Tuesday afternoon in an apparent murder-suicide.
The bodies of her two sons, aged 23 and 18, and her daughter, 15, were discovered by Stafford Police inside the home on Venice Circle at Naples St.

Lt. James Leedom said a domestic dispute broke out among the siblings around 2 p.m. That’s when one of the siblings shot and killed the other two before taking their own life.

Each body was found in a separate room of the home they shared with their mother and father, who arrived at the scene after his wife discovered the bodies.
At this point only two nations in the world have a constitutional right to civilian ownership of hand guns — Yemen and the United States.
Nice company we keep up with

  4. They do it for their everlasting GREED. Gotta get those folks in their clutches any way possible to fill their coffers.

Any person coming to get the guns has no interest at all in hearing anything these “holy” frauds have to say.

  5. This raffle is an abomination to Jesus. These are Cinos (Christians in name only) not true Christians.

Here’s hoping the raffle fails, their membership declines to zero and that the “church” will close and be nothing but a bad memory.

The Second Amendment talks about “a well-regulated militia” NOT un-regulated citizens.

  6. In fact first Century Christians would never use deadly force against another human being for self defense or join the military since they were conscientious objectors.

  7. Not only the scriptures support that but also historical books attest to it. You can find the nugget by research.

  8. Thank you for your suggestion now maybe you can use it
    Thundering Legion
(Legio fulminata, or fulminea, not fulminatrix).

The story of the Thundering Legion is in substance as follows: When the Emperor Marcus Aurelius led an expedition against the Quadi in 174, his army, exhausted by thirst, was on the point of falling an easy prey to the enemy. It was then that the soldiers of the Twelfth Legion, which was composed of Christians, prayed to their God for help. Forthwith a heavy thunderstorm arose, bringing the desired relief to the Romans, but terrifying and dispersing the barbarians.

Whittling down the pacifist narrative: Did early Christians serve in the army?

  9. They use gimmicks to get people in. They need big profits to keep up their scams. What a way to “attract” people to Christ. He was all about love, peace and caring for each other, the total opposite of today’s preachers. One so,called religious institution advertises raffle, worlds largest sundae, free tickets “Chuck E Cheese”. Ya,they really listen to the sermons. Sad way to boost attendance. They aren’t real houses of worship anyway. Just a bunch of guys trying to make a living easily. Preach a little and survive. Most would love to hit the jackpot and get mega churches. Easy Street from then on.

A responsible, gun owning Kentucky mom stepped outside, leaving her 5-year-old son alone with his new birthday present — a brand new, shiny loaded .22-cal. rifle — and his 2-year-old sister.

You can guess how that turned out

  11. And, some people still seem puzzled at why church enrollment is falling in so many places. The answer – it’s not just one answer, there are many.
