Men Behaving Badly! Right-Wing Males Act Like Jerks After SCOTUS’ Hobby Lobby Decision

On Monday, the Supreme Court gave their decision in the Hobby Lobby case. By a 5-4 majority along ideological lines, the court ruled in favor of two companies run by Christian owners. The owners of these two ‘closely held’ companies, Hobby Lobby and Conestoga, argued that they should not be required to offer contraceptives under their insurance plans due to religious objections. Obviously, this opens the door for other companies to claim ‘religious freedom’ in order to skirt the law, whether it is discriminating against gays and lesbians or attempting to deny their employees other mandated provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

Male conservative members of the media, as well as Republican men in office, decided to act like a bunch of adolescent jerks after SCOTUS made the announcement and released the decision. Instead of touting the decision in a respectful manner, many of the men resorted to female bashing, slut shaming and overall bad behavior. In doing so, they have once again proven that they’d rather alienate and offend large swaths of this country’s population rather than become a truly inclusive and compassionate political party.

Perusing Twitter, I came up with the following awful and disgusting tweets from some of the most well-known names of conservative media. First off, let’s take a look at Fox News’ Eric Bolling:

Classy, Eric. Real classy. Of course, when bringing up Sandra Fluke, it automatically makes one think of El Rushbo. What did Rush Limbaugh have to say about the decision?

Now, despite what many on the left are saying today, despite what you probably are gonna hear from a lot of people on the left, birth control is not what was banned by the Supreme Court. That’s not what was on the docket, so to speak. In the Hobby Lobby case, narrow though it may be, the Supreme Court, by 5-4 majority decision, defended liberty. And it should be noted that even after this decision, birth control remains widely available. It is dirt cheap no matter where you want to go get it. The fact is, if you wanted to be entirely — well, not entirely — if you wanted to be somewhat negative about this, you could say that the most appalling thing about today’s decision is that we had to even endure it, that we had to even go through this.

You see women. Birth control is “dirt cheap.” If you work at Hobby Lobby, you just need to hop on over to Target and pay a few bucks, and–VOILA!–you have the medication you need. Not to be outdone, Erick Erickson decided to do some slut shaming on Twitter.

Fox News’ resident weasel, Todd Starnes, also got in on the action. Essentially, he equated Plan B and other contraceptives to abortion and said that the decision was a victory for unborn babies and that Christians are no longer going to be forced to fund others’ abortions.

Now it wasn’t just about slut-shaming and rubbing the decision in women’s faces. Of course, when it comes to today’s conservatives, all things must lead to Obama. Therefore, we had a number of republicans and conservative media members mock Obama over the decision.

Here we have Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal:

Fox News’ idiot savant, Steve Doocy, also weighed in:

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) claimed that this “protected religious freedom from the overreach of the Obama administration.”

In the end, I hope that the right-wing men had their fun on Monday. Because, by acting like childish buffoons, they once again show that the GOP tent is shrinking and only appears to have room for a small subsection of this nation. Laugh it up while you can, Republicans.

  1. These people are too stupid for words.

What they and others fail to grasp is that this is not just a ruling against women – it is a ruling against everyone who does not own a company.

It is not a ruling FOR Christians. Nothing touching on an individual’s religious freedom is part of this ruling. It is a ruling FOR companies, for corporations.

Individuals gained NOTHING today by this ruling, not that it could be excused even if they did. But people like the above who are celebrating this as some big win for religious freedom?

    Yeah, they’re stupid.

  2. Tie their idiocy to every rethuglican running in swing districts. Make them own the hate for over half the population of women. You could be quite sure the women voters in those districts are listening

  3. I was wondering who that Starnes guy was when I read the page on Facebook and his halfassed opinion was on the top of the page. ‘Weasel’ might be too strong for him… he’s better off as a ‘Jackal’, which fits the right wing pretty much to a T.

  4. Well, since that same SCOTUS just removed protest buffer zones, I say let’s see women by the hundreds protest right at the front doors of Hooby Lobby

  5. I guess that leaves we REAL Democratic MEN to stand up for women against those weasel dicks on the right. These alleged men’s wives should cut them off, in a figurative and perhaps even a literal sense as well. Get your magnifying glasses and fingernail clips ready ladies… Meanwhile Boycott Holy Hobby Lobby!!!

  6. I just phoned my closet Hobby Lobby, asked the lady answering the phone if they sold any chinese products, she answered – all of the products are made in China. When I told her I was shocked about this and wanted a message relayed to management she said I would have to speak to management, so she put me on hold to transfer me – I waited for her to let me speak to the manager and she came back on the line – the manager could not speak to me on this subject, she said I would have to talk to corporatye headquarters. My request folks -bombard them with indignation, they will squirm!

  7. CNN has a big splash on how the USSC ruled against Obama…actually, they ruled against America, women, workers and freedom.

I can not imagine why any woman would vote republican at this point, or any working person or anyone with an IQ in 3 numbers.

  8. That is how the media are framing it. TURN IT OFF. It is nothing but misinformation. If it weren’t for them along with stupid ass EMOS this decision wouldn’t even had seen the light of day

  9. The SCOTUS (or SCROTUM: Supreme Court Regressives of the United Mega-corporations) ruled against WOMEN as much as against Obama. We need single payer health care coverage instead of employer-based health insurance, so a for-profit PRIVATE BUSINESS will stay out of OUR personal health care PRIVATE BUSINESS! Medicare for ALL.

  10. Democrats need to POUND this subject while campaigning and beat this horse to death! And, I must say, I’m not convinced that the GOP is dying out…pundits and Progressives can say this til they are blue in the face, but until it actually happens, saying it won’t make it true…wishful thinking, IMO, and a way to lull the base into complacency. What I want to hear from our candidates is Democrats calling out all Republican bullshit as it happens, in real time! Dems, get in their faces and don’t back down! Throw the book at them! When are our candidates gonna get pissed off and REAL with the Rs?!!

  11. A couple of the people there understand ramifications. The Fox people do not understand where this went and where this will lead. Rush does but he is very wealthy. The Pols do but they will leave their jobs before it gets bad.

  12. These are the same people who will complain that their taxes will have to help pay the $340K in educational costs for each of the babies being born. They will be crying to the gibmint for more taxpayer subsidies from the donor states.

1,000 kids will be $340 million, divided by 13 will be $26 Million a year to the state’s tax burden. 10,000 kids will add $260 Million a year to your tax burden. And this doesn’t even include food, lodging, medical care… Each 10K kids will add roughly $350-400Million to your state budgets! Enjoy!

What’s worse is that they complain about all of the freeloaders in society, and it will be that same group whose population will continue to explode, further diluting their race and class of people into obscurity.

They are helping to end their white utopia.

  13. O!
    Keep laughin’ fellas!
Women & the Men who care about them
(you know, those guys that have Wives & Moms, & Sisters, & Aunts & Nieces & on & on & on) will get the last laugh,
    at the VOTING BOOTH!
Keep in mind as well, all the 16 & 17
& 18 year old young Women (& Men) this affects.
Yep, they’ll all be ready to VOTE in
2016 and I’m confident they will!

  14. IDK….
But for some reason I see Eric Bolling,

Somebody get eyeballs on Sandra Fluke. She may do something dumb. After all now she has to pay for her own birth control.

going the way of Gregg Jarrett….
    all that HATE will eventually
    drive you MAD!

  15. Absolutely right! I can’t seem to vote here so I had to reply. The sooner we get single-payer, the better.

Of course, the regressive party doesn’t like that because it gives We the People too much independence, you know, the freedom to get a different job or start a business.

  16. You whiners shut your yappers. If what we do with our bodies on our own time is none of our employer’s business — and I agree that it isn’t — then why on earth should they pay for it? Let’s say, for example, Bush had decided, in the war on drugs, that an employer had to urine test everyone twice/year but your employer stood up and said, “Nope, I won’t do it.” We’d all be jumping up in support. The very idea you numbnuts call this a “war on women” tells me you have no idea what a war on women is. Go ask the women in Pakistan. Tell them the Supreme Court won’t make your employer pay for your birth control, and how you’re incensed over this. They will punch you in the face. Here’s the deal pansies: Republicans stay out of my bedroom, and Democrats stay out of my wallet.

  17. Sorry, this is the US. And you have no idea what the war on women is. Nor do you care. BTW, the govt doesnt pay for the birth control. But, YOU do pay for every tax cut given to the 1%

  18. Ah the Google is your friend taxes are at their lowest in 30 years. The greatest lie ever told, the ones Republicans most want you to believe, is that President Obama is a classic tax and spend liberal.

In truth, under Obama taxes have hit a 30-year low, in part because of tax cuts enacted by the president as part of the stimulus package.

Average federal tax rates are lower than they were under Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

These are numbers from the Congressional Budget Office and it doesn’t matter if you look at just income taxes or all federal taxes combined, under President Obama, taxes are at a 30 year low.

The CBO report only goes through 2009, but since then, President Obama has lowered taxes even more with the payroll tax cut.

Of course, these facts haven’t stopped Republicans from complaining about taxes under the president’s watch.

To be fair, some of this Republican whining is in response to President Obama’s pledge to let the Bush tax cuts expire for the top two percent.

But the fact remains, under President Obama, taxes are at a 30 year low.

Yes, some of this republican whining was in response to president obama’s pledge to let the bush tax cuts expire for the top two percent, but tax rates would still be at a record low.

President Obama has had to combat the lie with the facts.

  19. If any guy is reveling in this decision today, I have an idea for them. Cut yours off, and then your partner won’t need birth control!

  20. Paws, they aren’t stupid..they know exactly what they are doing.

Besides chipping away at womens’ rights, they are also chipping away at ACA…that is the plan. It is very calculated.

VOTE these bastards out in November.

  21. Well, hmm, the only recognizable names here are Bobby Jindal and Lamar Alexander, have no idea who those other eejits are. Bet there’s more like me, many more.

  22. Will Hobby Lobby cease doing business with China and their one child rule? How can they morally support abortion that way?

  23. The US EXTREME Court has just made this country the Laughing stock of the World.

This the Best reason to get out and VOTE
in November and AGAIN in 2016.

  24. Such BS, ‘Christian’ bs again, to force YOUR belief on ME. SCREW YOU NAZI’S. Been there, done that, F you.

  25. …just a suggestion…somebody should start a blog detailing the Republicans shitty actions and talking points…starting with the meeting during Obamas first Inauguration where top repubs vowed to make President Obama a one term president…then this list can be repeatedly posted all social media leading up to the election…
…and don’t let it drop after the 2014 elections…it’ll help during 2016 elections too!!!

  26. Hambone? If you had any balls, you would post under your real name. How can you support such hypocrisy? Hobby Lobby sells only Chinese made goods. China has the highest abortion rate of any country in the world. It’s good ole Christian business. Forget principle if there’s profit to be made. I am sure that is exactly what their Jesus would do. Sell his mother into slavery for a nickel!

Rather than boycott Hobby Lobby, everyone should enter their stores, I mean hundreds at a time, maybe spend 35 cents but tie their employees up for hours with near zero sales and lots of product questions.

  27. Democrats need to pin this decision on EVERY Republican up for election this November. Regardless of whether they acted like an ass on Monday, this decision is a direct result of right wing Republican ideology and Democrats have to hammer that point home for the next for months.
