Tan Scam: Boehner Caught In A Lie While Blaming Democrats For Obama Impeachment Talk

Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) got caught in a massive lie when he claimed today that the talk of impeaching President Obama is a Democratic scam. Boehner seems to have forgotten his own threat to impeach the president.

Boehner said, “This whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president’s own staff, and coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why? Because they’re trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year’s election. We have no plan to impeach the president. We have no future plans. Listen, it’s all a scam.”

Rep. Boehner claimed that the impeachment talk was started by the president and Democrats, only it wasn’t. Back in January, Boehner hinted at impeachment, “We’re just not going to sit here and let the President trample all over us. This idea that he’s just going to go it alone, I have to remind him we do have a constitution. And the Congress writes the laws, and the President’s job is to execute the laws faithfully. And if he tries to ignore this he’s going to run into a brick wall.”

In May 2013, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) claimed that President Obama could be impeached for Benghazi. During an August 2013 town hall, Rep. Blake Farenthold admitted to constituents that House Republicans are aching to impeach the president. In October 2013, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) threatened to impeach the president if the country defaulted. In June 2014, the South Dakota Republican Party passed a resolution that called for Obama to be impeached. Sarah Palin claimed that God wants President Obama impeached.

The list of Republican calls for Obama impeachment is endless, so it is a ridiculous lie for Boehner to claim that Democrats are behind the impeachment talk. It is as if Republicans still don’t understand that the Internet exists, and we can easily go back and see what they say. It is all on audio, and video. The words are in black and white. The nation hasn’t been asleep for the past six years. People know which party has been beating the impeachment drums, and it isn’t the Democrats.

John Boehner is pursuing his lawsuit against the president as a way to play into the anti-Obama lust for impeachment. One of the first calls for Obama to be impeached came from right-wing, banned in the UK, radio host Michael Savage less than 50 days after President Obama took office. The Republican impeachment dance is nothing new. The difference is that Democrats are calling Boehner out on it.

The real reason why Speaker Boehner is freaking out is because Democrats are raising millions of dollars. Democrats have taken the lead on the last three major congressional generic ballot polls. Boehner’s attempt to motivate Republicans with a lawsuit has awoken a group of voters that Republicans do not want to see at the polls this November.

Rep. Boehner can’t put the impeachment genie back in the bottle, and Democrats are out to make him pay this November.

  1. This is hilarious. The GOP blaming Dems for the impeachment talk in order to raise money? Nope..the GOP’s plan..once again backfired on them. Dems are raising lots of money, and the Dem base is rarin’ to go come election day; all thanks to the GOP and their threats of impeachment and suing the POTUS.

GOP is angry, they caused the massive fund raising for Dems..so now time to blame the Dems.

Boehner is pathetic. Sore losers all the way around.

  2. It seems like every other word from Republicans has been impeach, who the hell does he think he’e fooling?

Man, the crap just never ends with these screwballs.

  3. Another case of the right attempting to rewrite history. Makes them look like pathetic liars as easy as it is in today’s information age to bust them.

  4. It’s not just Republicans who live like there is no internet where audio, video and written evidence abound. Democrats in the House and Senate also have their share of embarrassing lapses in memory.
Aren’t you sick of it all?

  5. Am I the only one who thinks that John Boehner is drunk every time he takes to the podium? What would the re pubs say if Nancy cried on camera constantly?

  6. Same old, same old. Republicans simply refuse evidence-based reality, preferring to live in a world where reality is whatever they say it is.

  7. I can’t believe those old farts standing behind Boehner is letting that man stand in front of all that is looking tell that lie, and hold a straight face… they are all pitiful….

  8. When Speaker Boehmer’s time is up there will not be enough alcohol in Times Square to control the rage this man has endured the last 5 years. From being totally dominated by President Obama and the Democrats, but also from the Republicans who want his scalp for being delusional at best. I mean dude has been marinated and put on a slow low heat, damn near from the opening act. The Vultures are licking there chops from behind, and the Speaker is stuck in quicksand.(Eric Cantors stunning loss doesn’t help) I really think he should seek professional help, I am truly worried about dude’s psyche.

  9. Keith, Yes, I’m so sick and tired of the back and forth jabs. Its no wonder republicans and Democrats cant work together. I’m so sick of it all. The people in Washington are not looking out for all american people or whats good for this country. I blame both, but more so on tea republicans. From day one they said they would do all they can to make Obama a one term president. Some of them want the president to fail and thats what they been tryng to do.

  10. So the tea party faction of the House Republican caucus are really closet Democrats.
    Who knew?

Or perhaps Obama has been using an old Jedi Mind Trick to plant thoughts of impeachment in the feeble brains of conservative politicos.

  11. Republicans are sore losers. They behave worse than a toddler with their temper tandrums.

It is really pathetic that the GOP were wanting to impeach when he was newly elected in 2008.

They cannot get it through their thick skulls that we the people have not once but twice rejected their conservative b.s.

I also think Boehner has seen the polling and is starting to panic. This November should be a cake walk for Republicans, but they have made one misstep after another because they have created a fantasy base world that does not exists, and have rejected realty. It’s going to cost them at the polls in November.

  12. What is this guy going to do, when the people of Ohio smarten up and vote his rear out. Maybe he can go someplace and become a wine taster and drink his self to death.

  13. Put up or shut up.

Where’s your list of democrats doing and saying the anti-American BS that GOPTPers have been saying since 2009?

Politicus is not the place to play “both sides do it” and win. We’re too well-informed to fall for that BS.

  14. Boehner’s remarks were not merely an embarrassing lapse of memory. If you believe it is then you have no idea of the extent of the GOP lies, hypocrisy and obstruction.

Two longtime and highly respected scholars have written a book entitled “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks.” I highly recommend it. Note: it’s filled with things called facts

  15. Perhaps you have been living on another planed for the past six years without access to teevee, radio, or the internet.

Republicans and Democrats cant work together?

    Is this snark?

Here is reality: Republicans won’t work with Democrats because of the bla guy in the WH.

  16. Meant to reply to Deena, not to myself.

Perhaps you have been living on another planed for the past six years without access to teevee, radio, or the internet.

Republicans and Democrats cant work together?

    Is this snark?

Here is reality: Republicans won’t work with Democrats because of the bla guy in the WH.

  17. The people of Ohio who continues to vote for this guy or any republican will never smarten up. This is what they want.

  18. Your comment and attached clown accident story were just TOO FUNNY! I hope you don’t mind that I shared it on my FB page (with credits to you of course)!

  19. I’m a little confused by your answer Maxie. Your saying that this Nov. should have been a cake walk for repubs, but they’re creating this little world…?.
What do you mean-“creating”?! They have fricking LIVED in that insane world for years!!! LONGER THAN I’VE BEEN ALIVE!!!!

When you said that this November should have been a cake walk for repubs…I’m not trying to put words in your mouth here!… Maybe I’m just reading into it or something, don’t know. ?.. It seemed like that’s what you wanted to happen. But like I already said-maybe I’m just reading something else entirely into it! Okay? Would you Please explain what you meant?

    And no!
I’m not being the vocabulary police here!! It just bothered me. Because other than that part, you sounded like an intelligent person! (Meaning non-tea party moron)
I just have to say–dang! I wish I was just half as creative as you people on here that have those AWESOMENESS sayings at the end of your posts!!!

  20. I’ll go with the last four words of your statement and maybe just replace conservative politicos with Tea Party Republicans. :-)

  21. Just read a good comment –
Clinton impeached for cheating on his wife.
George W Bush invades country, kills hundreds of thousand of military and civilians on a lie.
    No impeachment.
Obama gives millions healthcare – has to be impeached!

  22. Speaker Boehner spoke the truth. It’s a a Dem ploy to rouse their base and raise money. There will be no impeachment hearings, much to the dismay of the White House, who would welcome them.

  23. 6 months ago

Boehner warns Obama headed for ‘brick wall’
“We’re just not going to sit here and let the President trample all over us,” said Boehner.
“This idea that he’s just going to go it alone, I have to remind him we do have a constitution. And the Congress writes the laws, and the President’s job is to execute the laws faithfully. And if he tries to ignore this he’s going to run into a brick wall.”

    Sounds like impeachment to me

  24. His remarks had nothing to do with HIS lapse of memory. The real scam is their constant hope the whole country won’t remember what has been said and done. Speaking of walls. They paint themselves into a corner with their lies then try to grasp at even a short straw hoping to use it to pole jump over their problem.
That used to work. It can’t now. One of the biggest failings of the old white men running the country. Old people HATE change but it happens no matter how hard we fight against it. Realists recognize that and work with change and try to make it a good thing instead of trying to reverse time.
We see it with everything repugs do. I cannot imagine the thought processes involved with the all out war on women for example. And like this issue, the effort to make it the Democrats fault.

  25. Agree with you Paul. This was not an embarrassing lapse in memory. It is planned. rethugs believe fully, what ever you repeat enough times, the public will swallow with ease.

  26. Worst job in the world, that.

    Even over POTUS or SOS.

“Tan Scam” made me snort coffee through my nose.

  27. It is insane how the RWNJs think we don’t have proof to what they have been saying and doing. If this helps our side, I’ll take whatever will work to wake up left leaners.

  28. Now, now Scott. We know you know what the internet is since you are using it. Go back and check out who started what. You make yourself look pretty pathetic to us here. All you said is right wing talking points.

  29. Again and again the Right-Wing Radical Repubs are condemning Obama for ALL the problems that have occurred during his Administration and even prior! Whatever bad things happen, wherever they happen, whenever they have happened, are Obama’s fault and no one else is to blame! That’s what these idiots spend all their time, energy and OUR tax money doing. No suggestions fir improvement, no new intelligent ideas for problem solving, no courageous leadership! Just the same old, same old song: blame Obama, sue Obama, impeach Obama and so on, adfinitum. Because of their continuous obstruction on EVERYTHING, they are putting our country at risk on so many levels and violating their congressional oaths to uphold our Constitution in the best interests of the country and WE, THE PEOPLE, IT BECOMES MORE AND MORE DISGUSTING as valuable time gives by. And the world opinion of the U.S. has suffered greatly because of their obstructive dysfunction and this continued spouting of lawsuits and…

  30. You know…..anymore when I have to watch that John Boehner on the idiot box….I hear that old 70’s song in my head, “Send in the Clowns”. Only this version is sang by a very intoxicated Ted Nugent. For some reason he and Boehner seem to click together, as a un-dream team. So sick of that A-hole Boehner, making a mockery of America.

Yet no one does anything about those rightwing treasonous animals.

  31. Send in the clowns Isn’t it rich?
    Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
    You in mid-air.
    Send in the clowns.

    Isn’t it bliss?
    Don’t you approve?
    One who keeps tearing around,
    One who can’t move.
    Where are the clowns?
    Send in the clowns.

  32. I may NEVER vote for any Republican ever again. The liberals may be a pack of whiny cry babies, but what a WASTE of taxpayer moneys to sue a sitting President in his last term. Are the Republicans really that under employed? What about immigration and the border? what about the Ukraine? What about the flare up with Israel and the Gaza strip?
What about me paying $1200/month to keep my medical coverage. The Republicans have abandoned every good conservative value and the only “platform” they seem to have is Anti-Obama. Mitch McConnell started the Obama Presidency out by stating the “number one goal” of the Republican Party would be to make him a one-term President. Oops! Ted Cruz vowed to “to use “any procedural means necessary,” including a filibuster, to stop the healthcare law in the Senate. All these real problems to deal with, and a country struggling to pull itself out of recession, and all half the government can think about is stopping the guy with ideas??

  33. You shouldn’t be going around calling people morons
Saying that Boehner spoke of Impeachment is Jan means talks NOW of impeachment didn’t come from the White house is nonsense.
    Exactly what does that mean

Excerpts from a National Republican Senatorial Committee fundraising letter sent in May 2006:

It’s becoming clear that if the liberal Democrat leadership takes control of Congress, they will embark on a destructive agenda of politically motivated “investigations” of President Bush and his administration….

And it’s even likely that Democrats – should they take over the House and Senate – will try to impeach President Bush….

Wow I just love these intertubes

  35. They don’t care if we have proof. They have faith on their side. Can’t argue with the faithful as they pride themselves on ignoring reality. I think the best thing we can do is ignore and isolate them.

  36. I know you are kind of slow, maybe its the meth or living in that Reich wing bubble but we kind of covered this
USA Today Publishes John Boehner Editorial Then Trashes His Lawsuit Against Obama

    Damn there it is again
John Boehner Makes A Fool Out of Himself Trying To Use ACA Subsidy Ruling To Push His Lawsuit

Wow you must be shitting me
A Bad Sign For Boehner as Judge Throws Out Senator’s Obamacare Lawsuit

    This is getting redundant
John Boehner’s Lawsuit Against Obama Has Raised a Staggering $4.5 Million For Democrats

I would go on but even your pointy head can get the point

  37. It’s the repub’s 5 min rule(kinda like the dropped food 3 sec rule) Anything they do or say, if it was 5 min ago, it didn’t happen and/or they didn’t say it. You ask why 5 min-it’s about 4 min longer than their base’s attention span giving them plenty of leeway

  38. There is a special place in Hell for these particular GOPers. And that is a place where President Obama is the President forever. and they can’t do a thing about it. Kind of like deja vu all over again.

  39. Why the hell would the GOP want to impeach Obama? That would only end up with President Biden, and nobody, not even Democrats what that. So chill out, Obama isn’t going anywhere.
