Only Republicans Could Be Proud of Inflicting Brutality On Innocent Hispanic Children

Compassion is an emotion that some human beings feel in response to the suffering of others that motivates a deep-seated desire to help relieve that suffering. Even though compassion is regarded as having an emotional aspect, it is also based on cerebral notions among decent human beings such as fairness, justice and interdependence, so it should be considered rational in nature and its application understood as an activity based on sound judgment simply because all humanity is interdependent on each other. In America, there is a relatively large segment of the population that is so vacant of compassion, instead of a humanitarian desire to relieve the suffering of others, they actively seek out new and barbaric means to increase misery; these are Republicans and their barbaric base.

The barbarians in the GOP base will welcome their heroes home when they start their unearned 5-week hiatus after the House passed “immigration” legislation that really reveals the depth of Republican depravity towards children of Hispanic descent. Now, it is true that Republicans have demonstrated contempt for all American children over the past five-and-a-half years, but besides demanding poor children clean toilets to qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches, Republicans have not yet demanded they be deported or sent to concentration camps; although that may be on the horizon. One might think the rabid inhumanity permeating the Republican ranks is solely based in xenophobia, and although that may be partly true, it is more likely based on cold-blooded cruelty that characterizes the conservative movement.

Yesterday, as reported here, conservative hero Ann Coulter accurately described Israel’s war against Palestinian civilians sequestered in a fenced and mined reservation as “ethnic cleansing,” and lamented that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was not leading America so Republicans could deal out some savagery Netanyahu-style on refugee children at the border. It is curious that Coulter praised Netanyahu for “ethnic cleansing” an entire people, children included, because of all people on Earth, Israeli’s should be appalled at the thought of forcing human beings into a fenced area and massacring them; but that’s the subject of another article. This is about inhumane Republicans voting to put more guns on the border to stop refugee children seeking out immigration officials for humanitarian assistance, and at the direction of Speaker of the House Ted Cruz, voted to deport over half-a-million Latino children who have lived in America most of their lives through no fault of their own. After yesterday’s vote, it is difficult to comprehend why any Latino, adult or child, would want to live in a nation where a major political party and their bigoted supporters dream of brutalizing them.

If any American imagined Republicans had any intent to address the humanitarian crisis at the southern border, they are comatose. As Democratic Representative Luis Gutiérrez said, “For weeks … they have said that they (refugee children) are disease-ridden, lice-filled, gang bangers, drug dealers, and mules of the drug cartels who have come here in hoards to invade our nation, and now they are demonstrating that that’s how they feel in their legislation.” The bill Republicans could not pass on Thursday did not contain a cruelty clause banning President Obama from taking humanitarian actions, so House Speaker Cruz ordered Republicans to block the vote until it met his approval. Obviously, more guns at the border and a provision to deport half-a-million Hispanic children pleased Cruz; so barbarism prevailed and House Republicans cheered like banshees at the prospect of spending the next five-weeks of their vacation campaigning on their inhumane accomplishment.

Although it is forbidden to compare Republicans using propaganda to incite hostility and smoldering hatred among conservatives against an ethnic group to another Aryan, white supremacist Bavarian monster, the similarities cannot be ignored. Obviously, conservative icon Ann Coulter sees the similarities of Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians (Nazi style) and lusts for the same actions against refugee children seeking asylum in America per Bush-Republicans’ 2008 legislation. However, as brutal as putting more guns at the border to challenge Central American child refugees, the Republicans voting to deport Latino children already living in America was vicious.

It is noteworthy that deporting children brought to America by undocumented immigrants could be applied to Ted Cruz. After all, the piece of human filth’s father illegally bribed a Cuban immigration official to come to America and waited 48 years to become an American citizen. In fact, it is noteworthy that unless a citizen is a Native American, every person in America is a descendant of an immigrant, whether documented or not, and yet now Republicans are singling out one particular ethnicity for “special” treatment whether they are children seeking asylum or unfortunate enough to be brought here by their parents seeking a better life.

It is beyond refute that if Republicans had their way, they would take the same actions against Hispanics as Israel is taking against innocent Palestinian civilians. Armed militias at the southern border, Rick Perry calling up the National Guard to accost refugee children, Texas Republican Louis Gohmert calling for a military invasion of Mexico, Ann Coulter dreaming of ethnic cleansing Netanyahu style, and deporting over half-a-million Hispanic children is the epitome of barbaric and inhumane treatment of human beings for no other reason than they are not white. It is racism, bigotry, xenophobia, vicious, and sheer cold-blooded hatred and nothing else. It is also typically Republican since Americans elected an African American man as President.

There was a time when America was a land many people from around the world desperately wanted to emigrate to. Those days are long past. America has become a violent, racist, and barbaric land that no human being in their right mind would dare even visit. This author works with people from every continent on Earth on a daily basis, and to a person, they wonder what has happened to make this country so hostile to its own people, much less immigrants. The United Nations Humanitarian organization has cited America’s mistreatment of its own citizens as inhumane, and yet Republicans are unfazed and appear to take pride in their inhumanity. The tragedy is that Republicans would not openly express their inhumanity toward other Americans, Hispanic children brought here by their parents, or child refugees, without the express support of their rabidly cruel base.

George W. Bush took a few years to destroy America’s reputation around the world, and despite President Barack Obama’s herculean effort to repair the nation’s standing, Republicans, teabaggers, and a large segment of the population have all but cemented America’s character as inhumane and cruel; to its own people and now child refugees. Not only do Republicans and their base lack any compassion or desire to relieve the suffering of others, they are now actively, and with malice aforethought, on a crusade to increase suffering for sport and brand America as compassionless, hate-filled, and cruel. After the Republican actions this week, it is difficult to imagine anyone in this nation being proud to be an American; unless they consider abject brutality toward innocent children something to be proud of.
