The Republican Embrace of ISIL-Type Violence

It is interesting how much Republicans claim to hate violence – be it ISIL in Iraq or our own citizens in Ferguson, MO, as when televangelist James Robison said, “We are experiencing the attempted destruction of life and liberty in our own heartland. It is all-out rebellion against the rule of law.”

Right now in Ferguson, some foolishly zealous people, including preachers and so-called reverends, are encouraging a revolt against the rule of law and accusing those who risk their lives seeking to protect our citizens as though they were targets to be attacked, discredited, and destroyed. Many are simply ignorant of the facts, as all of us still are to some degree. But others are intentional provocateurs, manipulating the media and the crowd for their own selfish gain. Still others are agents of evil, stirring up passions to provoke violence, as exemplified by the death chants against Officer Wilson. This is worse than nonsense. It is terrorism at home!

but yet can be so violent in their own rhetoric, whether they are talking about defending their so-called Second Amendment rights – their infamous “Second Amendment remedies” – our killing our president, or as has more recently invoked, killing Muslims with a bullet to the head

ANDREA TANTAROS: If you study the history of Islam. Our ship captains were getting murdered. The French had to tip us off. I mean these were the days of Thomas Jefferson. They’ve been doing the same thing. This isn’t a surprise. You can’t solve it with a dialogue. You can’t solve it with a summit. You solve it with a bullet to the head. Its the only thing these people understand. And all we’ve heard from this president is a case to heap praise on this religion, as if to appease them.

You know, like the Nazis solved the Judaism with the Final Solution. How Nazi Einsatzgruppen “solved” Jews on the Eastern Front during World War II:

Or…

Shooting and hanging immigration reform Republicans:

RICH LOWRY (National Review editor, Fox News contributor): The next time I hear a Republican strategist or Republican politician say that there are jobs that Americans won’t do, that person should be shot, he should be hanged, he should be wrapped in a carpet and thrown in the Potomac River. That’s what they did to Rasputin, I think it was a different river.

But let me tell you, it worked.

Remember when two cops were shot by homegrown white conservative terrorists in Las Vegas and Paul Waldman at the Washington Post, wrote, “It’s long past time for prominent conservatives and Republicans to do some introspection and ask whether they’re contributing to outbreaks of right-wing violence”?

Remember when Republicans rejected the idea that their rhetoric could incite violence, let alone that it is violent?

And think again about how Muslims should get a bullet in the head and pro-immigration Republicans should be shot and hanged.

Remember these instances of violent right-wing rhetoric?

And of course, we all remember Sarah Palin’s gun sights on Gabby Giffords and the cry to her followers to “don’t retreat, instead reload” right before a right wing nut job shot her.

These are the same people, of course, who became very upset over the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

Apparently, the proper response of people who don’t like other people is to shoot them and hang them. It is difficult, then, to understand the Republican problem with beheading. They have, in fact, enthusiastically endorsed killing ones enemies out of hand, without trial.

So different from this?:

Einsatgruppen

No, the GOP is not so different from ISIL.

The only thing that seems to separate them from Islamic terrorists is, in fact, the rule of law, and as we have seen in Ferguson, MO and elsewhere, sometimes not even then.
