The 7 Biggest Deadbeat States Who Mooch Off Taxpayers All Vote Republican

get-a-brain-morans

According to a study by The Tax Foundation, the seven states who take in the most federal tax dollars all, had one thing in common. They all voted Republican in the presidential 2012 election.

Here is the Tax Foundation’s map showing the percentage of federal aid that each state receives:

states who rely most on federal aid

The Tax Foundation summed up the data, “Though taxes are the most common and recognizable source of state government revenues, it’s important to remember that they’re not the only source. In fact, state governments received 31.5 percent of their total general revenues from transfers from the federal government in the 2012 fiscal year.
That number varies pretty widely for specific states, however. For example, Mississippi obtains 45.3 percent of its total state general revenues from the federal government (the largest share in the country). Also on the high end are Louisiana (44.0 percent), Tennessee (41.0 percent), South Dakota (40.8 percent), and Missouri (39.4 percent).”

Here’s the 2012 presidential election results map:

2012-map

The states that use the most federal aid are the same states who vote Republican in presidential elections. A 2010 study by the Fourth Branch found, “There is a very strong correlation, then, between a state voting for Republicans and receiving more in federal spending than its residents pay to the federal government in taxes (the rust belt and Texas being notable exceptions). In essence, those in blue states are subsidizing those in red states. Both red and blue states appear to be acting politically in opposition to their economic interests. Blue states are voting for candidates who are likely to continue the policies of red state subsidization while red states are voting for candidates who profess a desire to reduce federal spending (and presumably red state subsidization).”

Red states also use the most food stamps. Red states are the base of the Republican Party. The majority of individuals living in these states continue to vote for Republican candidates who want to shrink the size of the federal government and eliminate entitlement programs. The states who are pushing this platform the hardest are also the ones who are taking the most federal tax dollars from blue states.

States that mostly support Democrats are subsidizing the red state conservatives who claim to hate them. The message is clear. Red state economic policies don’t work without heavy taxpayer subsidies. The reddest of the red states continue to mooch off of the rest of the country, as the battle cry don’t tread on me has been replaced by please pay for me.

  1. Like any addict you have to cut them off from their fix. Only then can they become productive members of society

  2. Now why is that guy in the picture picking only picking on people with the name Moran!? Seems a bit petty to me. But that guy is typical of the kind of subhuman white guys we see every day. People like him make we Caucasians look bad he is a complete embarrassment to lily whites every where. I brought up the fact in this article a while back to some southern transplants to yankee land and I thought this guy and his wife were going to explode, he threatened me with the most stupid things and I laughed at him. Minutes later they entered the store and purchased groceries with a Direction(SNAP) card. Want to bet the irony escaped his stupid arse…

  3. I learned in the 1990’s that the Blue states support the Red States. I’d move to Connecticut if it were not for the cold. California has too many earthquakes and not enough water. You cannot reason with these people, you cannot convince them they are voting against their own best interest.

  4. I call foul. The statistics are based on revenue from the feds divided by the total revenue of the state, creating an error in analysis. Red states are likely to reduce taxes, so their state revenues will likely be low. When the Feds open up grants to the states, they do so usually in proportion to the population of the state. So just because blue states may receive less money from the feds in proportion to their revenue (taxes), they may be spending more money per their populating. A better way to actually come to such a conclusion of which the author is purporting to analyze the revenue from the feds and its correlation with spending on social programs

  5. The real “morans” in this country (right wingers/tea baggers) are forever whining about the “moochers” and the “takers” and the “welfare queens.” We as a country should give them exactly what they want.

Congress should pass a “Stop Federal Welfare” bill, legislation barring all states from receiving more in federal aid and services than they send to Washington. If a state runs out of money before the end of the fiscal year, too bad, they’re on their own.

The stupid Tea Baggers will clamor for it. The real moochers, the corporate whores in Washington, will desperately try to explain to their constituents why they won’t pass it without admitting they’re the ones who’ll get cut off.

  6. You can call foul all you want.

The author didn’t do the analysis- it was the non-partisan Tax Foundation.

Maybe you can take it up with them.

  7. Another depressing statistic, the US – mostly in republican states is now having more death rates for women in childbirth, all the advanced countries have all but eliminated deaths in childbirth, we have statistics close to places like El Salvador and other poor countries. Thanks republicans, have you no shame, the republicans are the death panels we have heard about.

  8. For all the so called patriots who downvoted everyone, I wonder why you didn’t speak your peace? Methinks you are nothing but cowards with a homeschooled education who cant think for themselves

  9. Colorado is great progressive state. Just stay away from colorado springs, weld county(owned by oil) and rural areas (gun right nuts).

  10. I see you didn’t read into the metaphor. Its okay a lot of people who cant read what I am saying make the same ASSumptions

  11. You misconstrue my statement. The tax foundation provided the data, and they analyzed the percentages. That’s it. No, I take issue with the conclusion that the author of the article makes. The author claims that the data supports the claim that red states are made up of moochers. But the data doesn’t even represent that claim, not in the slightest regard.
Reread my previous comment, and find out why.

  12. Oh and as a side note, in the article, it states that “There is a very strong correlation, then, between a state voting for Republicans and receiving more in federal spending than its residents pay to the federal government in taxes”
The most laughable of all fallacies: causation does not imply correlation.

  13. I would be quite happy if Congress would pass a bill that stops all corporate welfare. I would be quite happy if Congress would pass a bill that cuts financial assistance to other nations in half. I would be quite happy if Congress would pass a bill that would actually help the ordinary citizen instead of the 1%-ers. I could go on.

  14. “Red states are likely to reduce taxes, so their state revenues will likely be low.”

Not so. They just more heavily rely on other revenue-generation schemes that include increased administrative fees and fines (especially the fees on services), knowing it’s a less politically-inflammatory revenue-generation plan than “raising taxes,” as such. No less an increase in the cost of living in that area, but not one that can be criticized as a “tax increase.”

  15. Yep, it’s that good old Republican practice of projection. When a Republican accuses someone of doing something, you can just about bet that’s because that is what they do.

  16. Talk about moochers and takers, the republicans have been back to work for about
1 week and where are they – on a 2 day retreat trying to decide how to be hateful to Obama without losing support in the polls –
    Do they have any support???

  17. Both groups of people – either party- had better figure out that The Washington Congressional Crime Syndicate thrives by keeping you guys fighting each other. The millionaire congress, lobbyists thrive on the hate and discontent of the two groups hating each other and Congress are allowed to keep screwing this nation and doing the “wrong Thing”. A nation of dunces worried about the details , hating the other party and drilling holes in the system to spite themselves. Grow up and try and fix this corrupt system that allows billionaires to rule like monarchs, endless wars, while the infrastructure goes down the toilet. Why do politicians spend $ 4 billion dollars to get elected to office? Because it is big money for them. Quit fighting the other guy, and band together and let’s fix this corruption. This system has grown so foul, smells so terrible and the 99% of the citizens get screwed while the rich guys steal every last $

  18. Maybe we should just let the repukes have their way, and after these STATES LOSE all their welfare, they MIGHT understand they did it to themselves…They DESERVE it anyway, I am TIRED of paying for these lazy, ignorant, uneducated FOOLS in the red states…

  19. The most shamless hypocritical people ever.
They know nothing about anything. They just want to win at all cost and spread their anti-government, racist bigotry while feeding off of the government that they profess to hate so much. You can’t trust these people coming or going…….

  20. This article is close to being a bit racist calling people moochers for receiving food stamps, considering these states listed have the highest populations, (not including California) of African Americans. According to the CBO http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=193.
“More than a third (10 billion dollars) of African Americans receive food stamps.”

  21. The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program provides food stamps for almost 47 million Americans. Of those 47 million people, 43 percent of them are white and 33 percent are black. Approximately 19 percent are Hispanic, 2 percent are Asian and the remainder are Native America

So what’s your point other than sounding like a closet racist

  22. I find it funny that everyone is assuming it is “republicans” receiving the federal aid. For instance, food stamps are a huge portion of federal aid received by states. Statistics show that food stamp recipients are two times more likely to vote democrat. So are democrats twice likely to be “moochers” as Jason so eloquently states?

  23. Please read my point again. The southern red states have the highest population of African Americans, excluding California, and as your own statistics show, along with whites are one of the highest recipients of food stamps which is a huge portion of federal aid. His article states, not me, that these people are moochers. I personally find this to be a bit racist.
Also, as I have commented previously, food stamp recipients, whether white or African American, are twice as likely to vote democrats. So to assume the “republicans” are the biggest “moochers” is disingenuous.

  24. I just find it so interesting you are getting so mad at me as to resort to such language. I have never at one point put anybody down for receiving food stamps. I have only stated statistics. Jason Easley is the one that is putting people down and calling them moochers. Why are you not calling him names?

  25. Sorry, first posted my reply to you in the wrong location, so I will post again!

“I just find it so interesting you are getting so mad at me as to resort to such language. I have never at one point put anybody down for receiving food stamps. I have only stated statistics. Jason Easley is the one that is putting people down and calling them moochers. Why are you not calling him names?”

  26. Problem. The tax foundation didn’t state they take more federal dollars, but started what percentage of state revenue came from federal. The reason red states have the highest percentage is because they have the lowest tax rates. So the state generates less revenue, but also completes city work at a lower cost by doing large scale contracts at lower wages to.
So all this chart really is telling you…
Is which states rely on taxing everything they can, vs finding chapter ways to do things. I note how most of the state’s that require random drug tests on federal assistance programs and state assisted programs also have higher percentages. Just a laugh worthy comment.

  27. I find it funny that everyone is assuming it is “republicans” in these red states receiving the federal aid. For instance, food stamps are a huge portion of federal aid received by the “red” states. Statistics show that food stamp recipients are two times more likely to vote democrat. So are democrats as twice likely to be as you put it, “lazy, ignorant, uneducated FOOLS”

  28. You in a red state? I can tell you the food stamp, Medicaid, and whatnot recipients around me are predominently Gahd and gun white people who vote Republican so they can keep the same benefits away from those icky Other People.

  29. For some reason djchefron I can no longer reply to your recent posts, so I will reply from here. I have at no point made any racists statements, so I will assume that is all you have. Please, please, find your statistic from the actual sources such as the CBO and Census bureau instead of sites with agendas. Secondly, again my point, this author thinks he can get away calling people in these states moochers because he assumes the majority of “republicans” are receiving the aid. This is not the case, and I find it very interesting that you and others get so upset with me when it is Jason Easley who has just called a certain political affiliate and or race moochers and not me!

  30. Again, I find it very interesting you and others have resorted to cussing and name calling. I have not put anyone down for receiving aid. It is Jason Easley that is calling people which receive aid moochers! For some reason that is acceptable to you. As far as statistics, I will give you a few, however, it is not my job to do your research.

  31. I really do not know how this became a racist issue. Whites and African Americans are the two biggest recipients of welfare. However, it is a fact that the southern states have high populations of African Americans, and I think the author should have thought this through before calling these states moochers. However, again, why are you not angry at him. Also, unfortunately for you, throughout the US, recipients of welfare do tend to vote democratically. All you have to do is just a little research. One last point,I do not like corporate welfare either. I do not believe it is the government’s job to pick winners and losers nor do I think corporations need the money.

  32. It became racial when you said blacks make up a third of recipients. No where did you cite that whites get the lion share of aid from the government. You thought you were being slick but all you did was to show what a racist you are. Unlike the people who you can dog whistle too WE SEE YOU

  33. As a citizen of a blue northern state, most of us here know that the southern states are a bunch of lazy good for nothings with lousy work ethics compared to us in the civilized states! Republicans are cheap, lazy, love imaginary Jesus, guns and having sex with kids(as we know statistically the ‘bible belt states have the highest percentage of child porn). If the South ever did secede, they’d be a third world country within five years as they wouldn’t have the FEMA money that they so love!

  34. Oh and by the way, what is a “Gahd”? I could not find that anywhere! By the way, since YOU seem to bringing race into the issue of guns….In the last four months, there have been over 155 homicides, 75% of which were black on black shootings. In that same time period over 725 people have been shot and wounded in Chicago, again the majority being black on black.

  35. So by your logic CA should be getting about 10% of all federal money. Why is that not happening. How about we compare tax revenue to federal monies back. So CA gets $0.75 for every dollar while AK gets $2.45 for every dollar. Most red states are moochers. There is no denying it.
