President Obama’s job approval rating continues to skyrocket as a new Gallup poll has found that more Americans approve than disapprove to the president.

According to the Gallup Daily Tracking poll, President Obama’s job approval rating is a net (+1) as 48% of Americans approve of the job that the president is doing while 47% disapprove. The most recent result is the first time since September 2013 that the president’s Gallup job approval rating has been higher than his disapproval rating. The president’s approval rating has been on a steady rise over the past month. It is clear that the perception of the president’s job performance is changing.

Here is Obama’s approval trendline via Gallup:

The Gallup data is backed up by a recent CBS News poll that showed the president’s job approval rating surging to a twelve month high, and back on even ground at 46%-46%. President Obama’s approval also reached a 20 month high in the latest CNN/ORC poll.

The momentum has become undeniable. President Obama is the rare second term president who is gaining in popularity. Obama’s approval rating turnaround makes a lot of sense because unlike most presidents: Barack Obama inherited an economic crisis when he came into office. As the economy has improved, the president’s job approval rating has improved. With gas prices plunging at a record pace, the American people see tangible signs that the economy has improved. Hiring is up, gas prices are down, and President Obama is getting the credit.

Republicans, who were hoping for Obama fatigue before the 2016 election are getting the exact opposite as the President has acted on his own to remind millions of people why they voted twice for him. Republicans may have taken the majority in Congress, but it is President Obama who is on the rise.

  1. Keep it up, Mr. President. Show these GOP corporate shills for what they are. They haven’t done a thing for America in 20 years; time they pay the piper. Time they own up to being nothing more than mouthpieces for the Koch agenda to bring America to her knees while enriching their coffers. How much money do two elderly men need?
So, run Mitt. Run Jeb. Run Chris. You cannot run away from the facts about your loathsome party, and it seems America is finally waking up to those facts.

  2. He’s more relax now to the point that he doesn’t give a doggone about what the “haters” are saying. He knows what he’s trying to do. He’s staying focused whith only two years left. What the hell. The attitude is do what you came to do for the american working class people. Screw the greedy Republicans who bring nothing to the table but obstructing our beloved d POTUS. So glad to see him get his mojo back. Set to be one of the beat presidents in History. Definately the hardest working POTUS ever.

  3. What’s really ironic is this is the GOP’s own making. They were the ones who blamed Obama for the rising gas prices the past six years. Every chance they got, from Sarah Palin on down to Hasselbeck, Rush and the rest. Now, those people see gas falling fast, and they, having been fed the lie that the POTUS controls those prices, now grudgingly give him credit for their extra cash. Please proceed, GOP. You’re doing a damn fine job of burying your brand.

  4. This President is well deserving of high accolades. He is kind, faithful, good father and exemplifies the best American ideal….EVER! Bravo, Mr. President!!

  5. I am glad everything is improving. Obama has really aged, now perhaps he can relax a bit more. The Democrats now realize that when running for elections, to campaign on Democratic issues, and to remember who their base is. Had they done that, they would have picked up seats in the Senate, and gained several gubernatorial seats.
If Democrats wanted GOP ideology, they would register and vote for Conservatives

  6. I am still disgusted by the cowardly Democrats that ran as far away from the President as possible in the recent election cycle. And they got exactly what they deserved for it, they got their butts kicked. I’ve always been a strong supporter of the DNC and DCCC. Now I just delete their emails when they coming looking for a donation. The GOP are too stupid and hateful to learn, but I expect more from the Democrats. It’s wonderful that the President’s approval ratings are going up. He really deserves it since he’s accomplished so much more than we could have hoped for. He has taken us so beyond the place where W left us. Let’s proudly support him. He deserves it.

  7. I have yet to ask a President Obama hater why they hate him and to have received a coherent answer. The haters who call C-SPAN every morning have no logical reason why they hate him. Could it be an educated, smart, moral, handsome, charming black man with a loving, beautiful family has done so much more with his life than they have with their lives?

  8. I have always been 100% behind the president and I feel like he should have at least a 90% approval rating, I find that the haters have two things in common, they
are ignorant, mainly because they are FOX
watchers and they are also racist and cannot stand the fact that we have a smart
well educated president of color who can run rings around them.
One other thing, as dumb as they are, he never puts them down because he is a classy
    gentleman.

  9. Such a relief to see some success in ratings ! I have been so hurt myself by the filth thrown at this President – how could anyone stand so much and keep his cool and still get on with the really, really tough job of running the country ? I have been enjoying watching his stand-up-and-to-hell-with-you-haters stance – he will get more done in this next 2 years in spite of the Republicans’ hatred and disgusting behaviour. Go Mr. President, you are a great guy !

  10. It’s too little, too late. We are trapped for the next two years with a congress wholely controlled by the GOP and that will taint the rest of his presidency with concessions that will not be of benefit to the folks Obama wanted to focus on. Just more of the same old rich getting richer and the rest of us getting less and less. Social Security is at risk and certainly, there will be no caps lifted to preserve it. The surge in approval ratings is great, but the folks who voted apparently felt otherwise. Too bad the 65% who didn’t vote at all didn’t get off their duffs and vote so that he could actually do things he wanted to. Instead he has less support nationwide for his policies than ever!

  11. What eats then rethugs is the fact, they tried with every word said, and action done to bring this Pres down, they have NOT been successful. I have said from the beginning of their attacks it would fail. Despite all their evil intention, he will be remain in History as a good Pres.. THAT and that alone is just too much for the rethugs to take.. LIVE with it thugs….

  12. They probably hate him not because he is black, but because he is mixed-race. In their eyes, a black man who has sex with a white woman is worse than a black man.

  13. i never lost confidence in the president. he has done a mighty fine job so far and hope he continues on his agenda and socks it to the republicans every which way he can.

  14. Maybe he withstands all the crap coming his way from the detractors by silently saying “I’m the President, and you’re NOT”. That’s his invisible coat of armour and he wears it exceedingly well.

  15. “Skyrocket”? LOL! Approval has been so low that ANY change had to be “+.” Latest Gallup says Approval = Disapproval. And Rasmussen on January 16:
    Strongly Approve: 24%
    Strongly Disapprove:39%
    Total Approve: 48
    Total Disapprove: 50%

  16. Nancy, we are stuck, but really for 1 year. After that it will be 2016 election mode all the way. What I hate the most is that the repubs will be in lie mode to get folks to vote for them. Did folks really vote to destroy Social Security? That is what they want to do. If they could do it, I want everyone on it to be kicked off too. Why? To show repubs that they get what they deserve. Many think because they are already on SS they can’t be touched. Tell that to the disabled. I am so sick of folks yelling about the scammers too. More are not scammers, but they act like everyone is one. I abhor repubs and have for decades.

  17. These old white guys can’t stand that the most intelligent leader we have had in the last 14+ years in Wash DC is a black man. He is now treating Congress like the puppets on a string that they are. They are so predictable it is a comedy. I can hardly wait for the GOP clown parade for President.

So like all baggers you live in a past that never was

  19. I agree wholeheartedly Judith and I do the same …any request from the Dems I get rid of…if its from the President directly, I will read it and decide if it is legit. It pains me to see how he has aged and suffered in this job, and how they betrayed him. I admire him tremendously and have his back always.

  20. He stopped waiting for Congress to work with him… He took the bull by the horns and handled things himself…

  21. As the president keeps using executive powers afforded by the constitution, he will be able to continue building the economy. Every time he issues an executive order, the GOTP pitches a fit and ensures credit goes directly to the executive. Unless congress can get their head out of their ass, the president will continue this ride. Even if congress begins to do something positive, credit will still to the president and his approval will continue to rise.
