In our last exciting episode of Friday Fox Follies this reporter excoriated Fox “News” for not apologizing for the previous week’s Friday Fox Follies In France, when it allowed pundits to speculate wildly on No Go Zones in France and Birmingham, England, without any push back.
Clearly the suits at Fox read FFF. The very next day Fox Formally Apologizes for Claiming Muslims Have Taken Over European Cities. To highlight this column’s power: one retraction from Fox is stunning. That there were separate apologies on several Fox “News” shows is earthshaking!

Now we now know for certain what station Bobby “The Party of Stupid” Jindal watches. Don’t dismiss the efficacy of The Fox News Effect: GOP Governor Repeats Myth About Muslim No-Go Zones In England is a perfect example of how crap spewed on Fox is repeated at dinner tables across this entirely too-credulous country. Especially since Jindal’s foot-in-mouth came after the Fox “News” retraction.
Aside from my blistering attack, why did Fox “News” apologize when its OH MY GOD!!! THE GOVERNMENT IS TAKING AWAY YOUR SPRINKLED DONUTS is still awaiting a retraction? Demanding apologies only goes so far. Further Fox Fun: The second funniest thing on Fox “News” this year was when it was taken to the woodshed in Vermont High School Students Eviscerate Fox News ‘Ethics’. As NewsHounds reports:
[S]tudents from Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Vermont dissected this segment with a “professional integrity audit” based on the ethics code of the Society of Professional Journalists.
The results? “We lost count” of the violations of the code of ethics; Fox engaged in “character assassination” and “rank propaganda,” not journalism: “The facts have been so distorted by O’Reilly and Watters that the real truth is totally unrecognizable.”
“You chose to take a mean-spirited approach to America,” one young person countered. And really, there’s no denying it.
“By watching Fox News, we have learned buckets about journalism – what to do and more importantly, what never to do. It is our hope that Fox News can learn the very same from watching us,” the students concluded. “Can you commit to raising the bar by sticking to high standards and the code of ethics of journalism?”
Is Fox “News” smarter than a 5th Grader? Possibly. However, high school students are a whole ‘nother story.
While there’s a whole lot of ugly disguised as morning Happy Talk on the Fox & Friends Curvy Couch, FFF has a special Shout Out to Homophobe Brain Brian Kilmeade: Fox host: If ex-Olympian Bruce Jenner is transgender then she won’t be ‘on a Wheaties box again’ was so shocking that Esquire took note: Here’s Some Stupid For Lunch. Hilarity ensues.
Also: The Curvy Couch was host to Duke’s Call To Prayer And Fox News’ Call For Outrage. From Media Matters:
Fox News, which also responded to the initial announcement with outrage, celebrated the university’s reversal. On Fox & Friends, co-host Steve Doocy validated the public outcry, saying “There is no amplified Christian message … It just seemed like they were including the Muslim faith, but they were excluding all the others.” He attributed Duke’s reversal to viewers contacting the university: “A lot of you made your opinion known, a lot of people contacted Duke, and they have done a 180.”
Co-host Brian Kilmeade consoled Duke’s Muslim community by saying, “If you do want to pray at the right time, you can get a watch.”
It was sad to see Duke do a 180 after threats of violence, but sadder still to know it endured threats.
When pronouncing Tucker the “F” is not silent: A lot of people (rightly) complain of Al Sharpton’s dual role of Racial Gadfly and MSNBC host, but those same folks would probably defend the TRIPLE role of Tucker “Tucker, Bo Bucker, Banana Fana Foe” Carlson. Aside from being owner of The Daily Caller — which broke the totally-made-up-Senator-Bob-Menedez-with-Hookers story that Fox “News” ran with — he has a part-time gig (for the healthcare?) as an anchor for Weekend Fox & Friends, which — wrap your brain around this — is a dumbed-down version of the weekday show.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL, as they say on tee vee. The motherTucker shows up all over the Fox schedule to participate in those phony “Fair and Balanced” debates. How “Fair and Balanced” can he be when he always takes the anti-Obama, anti-government, anti-Political Correctness, anti-wussification, anti-logical position in his adolescent whiny voice. However, this time the privileged putz outdid himself:
“There’s nothing inclusive about Duke. Notice they’re not giving equal time to, say, evangelical pro-life messages. They’re not broadcasting those over the loudspeakers on the chapel. If you got in the middle of the Duke quad and read sections of the Bible that criticized homosexuality, you’d be dragged away by school security. They’re not inclusive, they’re making a political statement about how they’re on the side of Muslims!”
FFF argues that Carlson’s triple role is far more troubling and influencing than Sharpton’s tired old schtick.
