Rudy Giuliani Reaches New Low By Claiming President Obama Doesn’t Love America

During a dinner Wednesday night, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told a group of prominent Republicans that he believes that President Obama does not love America and “he wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up.” Essentially, Giuliani invoked birtherism and the crazy conspiratorial rants of Dinesh D’Souza with his remarks during the dinner, which was attended by prospective 2016 GOP Presidential candidate Scott Walker, and afterward in an interview with Politico. Based on his comments, Giuliani is selling Obama as an ‘other’ who views America as a colonial empire and it is his job to weaken the country.

The dinner was held at a ritzy Manhattan restaurant with roughly 60 guests, consisting of Walker, Giuliani, rich businessmen and right-wing media members. At a certain point, Giuliani got up and addressed the group, telling them that he did not think the President was a true patriot and loved his country.

“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America. He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”

If one were to think this would lead to Giuliani perhaps officially endorsing Walker for the GOP nomination, they’d be mostly wrong. The ex-mayor said he was looking for a presidential candidate who will constantly say that America is “the most exceptional country in the world.” He stated that whether that was Walker or any other GOP presidential candidate, he’d support and endorse them.

After the dinner, Politico caught up with Mr. 9-11 and asked him to elaborate on his comments regarding the President. Rather than back off of them or insist that he may have been a bit too harsh, Giuliani doubled down and accused Obama of believing America is a colonial empire he must stop, hearkening back to writings and comments of D’Souza and other conspiracy theorists.

“What country has left so many young men and women dead abroad to save other countries without taking land? This is not the colonial empire that somehow he has in his [head]. I’ve never felt that from him. I felt that from [George] W. [Bush]. I felt that from [Bill] Clinton. I felt that from every American president, including ones I disagreed with, including [Jimmy] Carter. I don’t feel that from President Obama.”

The frequent Fox News guest then criticized POTUS for his recent comments at the National Prayer Breakfast where he brought up atrocities done in the name of Christianity to point out that we shouldn’t paint the entire religion of Islam with the actions made by ISIL. Per Giuliani, Obama needs to be more like him, in that he takes a hard-line black and white stance on issues of religious violence.

“I thought the Crown Heights riots were a pogrom because you’re going out trying to kill Jews. Why is this man incapable of saying that? You’ve got to be able to criticize Islam for the parts of Islam that are wrong. You criticize Christianity for the part of Christianity that is wrong. I’m not sure how wrong the Crusades are. The Crusades were kind of an equal battle between two groups of barbarians. The Muslims and the crusading barbarians. What the hell? What’s wrong with this man that he can’t stand up and say there’s a part of Islam that’s sick?”

If you dig deeper into these comments, you also see Giuliani pandering to the part of the Republican Party that believes that Obama is a secret Muslim who is in cahoots with radical Islamic leaders. While the former GOP Presidential candidate may not be diving headlong into birtherism, he is definitely dipping his toe into the conspiratorial waters, seeing how the water feels.

In regards to ISIL and the issues in the Middle East, the right has definitely upped the rhetoric in the past few days. It started after the prayer breakfast speech, but really got raging after State Department spokesperson Marie Harf told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that America can’t kill its way to victory against ISIL. Harf stated in that interview and others that we as a country need to look at economic and other factors to get to the root causes behind the rise of ISIL and other terror groups. Basically, “we can’t kill our way out of this war.”

Her comments have led to the typical cacophony of right-wing voices claiming the Obama Administration doesn’t get it and they are blind. Bill O’Reilly even claimed on his show that we are mired in a holy war with ISIL and the President needs to come to grips with this.  MSNBC’s Chris Hayes responded to this by telling O’Reilly that he was basically doing PR work for the Islamic State, as this is exactly what they want. I am sure we will see O’Reilly give a smug, defensive retort mentioning Hayes’ low ratings in the next 48 hours.

Thankfully, the President isn’t listening to any of this noise coming from the conservative entertainment complex.
