Republicans Support And Defend Extremism Against America

GOP Extreme

It is too bad that Americans are so easily frightened because it allows Republicans to distract them from legitimate threats to their survival; conservative policies and Republicans’ base of support. It is actually curious why Americans are terrified of Islamic extremists halfway around the world when, although the Islamic State is brutal, they pose no real threat to the American homeland. It is possible that is why Republicans are prepared to cut off funding for Department of Homeland Security under the guise of stripping executive authority from President Obama, or because they fully understand the only threat to this nation is from members of their own party and their hateful supporters. It is important to reiterate that Republicans are ardent defenders of right-wing extremists posing the greatest terrorism threat to the United  States and since they are loyal supporters of their so-called champions of freedom; what better way to protect the real threat to America than shut down the Department of Homeland Security?

It is not breaking news or a revelation to any informed American that “law enforcement sees right-wing extremism as the top terrorism threat to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sees right-wing extremism as the top terrorism threat to the United States, or that the FBI sees right-wing extremism as the top terrorism threat to the United States.” It was no surprise that new analysis from the DHS warned that Americans should be frightened of increased attacks from so-called ‘sovereign citizens‘ on law enforcement, the government, and government agents and buildings. According to a recent report, since 2010 there were 24 violent attacks on American soil at the hands of sovereign citizens with unlimited firepower who reject government authority; a position establishment Republicans defend with religious fervor.

Prior to President Obama’s summit on Countering Violent Extremism, the Southern Poverty Law Center issued a report on domestic terrorism that revealed “A domestic terrorist attack or foiled attack occurred, on average, every 34 days. It also shows that fully 74% of the more than 60 incidents examined were carried out, or planned, by a lone wolf, a single person operating entirely alone. A total of 90% of the incidents were the work of just one or two persons.”

As it should have, the SPLC report slammed the nation’s focus on terrorism overseas while turning a blind eye to the real and present threat of a growing number of home-grown terrorists. What is interesting indeed is that the SPLC report held out hope that the government is preparing to shift its focus to the homeland and quoted Attorney General Eric Holder as a reason for its newfound hope. Holder said, regarding right-wing extremism that, “It’s something that frankly keeps me up at night, worrying about the lone wolf or a group of people, a small group of people, who decide to get arms on their own and do what we saw in France with the Charlie Hebdo attack.”

Holder, like many Democrats, has the right mindset and says the right things, but one hesitates to believe their sincerity based on their inaction that belies their worries “keeping them up at night.” It is true that any legitimate Department of Justice action to thwart right-wing extremists’ will garner a robust response and certain attack from the Republican establishment, but at some point the extremists in the Republican establishment have to be met with action and not just anecdotes about sleepless nights, or meaningless summits on countering violent extremism; actions get results, words do not.  In fact, after right-wing extremist and ‘sovereign citizen’ Cliven Bundy summoned armed militias and former law enforcement to send federal agents and local law enforcement running for the hills, it is evident the federal government has no interest in combatting right-wing terrorism and is likely terrified of challenging Republican extremism.

There was no better opportunity to send a powerful message and clamp down on right-wing extremism than during, and after, the Bundy ranch standoff. It is beyond refute that the armed militias violated several federal laws, and committed sedition, in chasing federal agents off federal land during the commission of their duties, but likely because they were supported by Republicans and Fox News, they are above the law. Months after the seditious incident, Nevada law enforcement claimed the criminals would face the consequences of leveling loaded weapons at police and sheriff’s deputies, but it is likely Nevada Republicans warned local law enforcement to back down or face the wrath of the party’s contingent of local armed sovereign citizens. Nothing has been done and it emboldened other Republican extremists to join the GOP’s extremist war on the federal government.

Several Republican-led states have passed laws criminalizing federal authorities’ attempting to enforce federal laws, and several Republicans have emboldened citizens to take up arms against the federal government; with impunity. Since the Bundy ranch success in forcing the government to acquiesce to extremists’ threats of violence, many red states are passing laws justifying seizure of federal land and daring the government to challenge the unconstitutional laws. In fact in Montana, Republicans are pushing legislation, SB 130, requiring creation of “state-sanctioned paramilitary groups known as ‘home guards’ to combat the grave danger posed by the federal government.” Home guards will be mobilized by local sheriffs’ who are, under ‘sovereign citizen’ ideology, the ultimate law of the land and the supreme Constitutional authority across America. It is noteworthy that this brand of “right-wing extremism” is sanctioned and promoted by establishment Republicans; not “lone wolves” or small groups of right-wing extremists.

It is true that the Republican establishment, and their media outlet Fox News, is responsible for encouraging right-wing extremism and the ‘sovereign citizens’ movement representing terrorist threats to America, but inaction on the part of federal government is, if not exacerbating the threat, legitimizing the movement. No matter what their reasoning for not taking action, allowing sovereign citizens and  establishment Republicans to intimidate voters, call for armed revolution, arrest and prosecute federal agents, aim loaded firearms at federal officials, and pass laws mandating paramilitary groups to combat the federal government IS legitimizing extremists and domestic terrorists.

Over the past months, Republicans have called for overwhelming force, including ‘boots on the ground’ to combat Islamic State extremism in Iraq and Syria; and why not? If they can keep terrified Americans frightened to death of extremists on the other side of the world, the people will not notice the real extremist threat to their survival and their nation are the Republican extremists in the sovereign citizen movement that enjoys the full support of the seditionists in the Republican Party; the most dangerous terrorist threat to America.

  1. What an opportunity for the rethuglicans
to shut down homeland security, I have heard rumblings a couple of times this week
that Al Shebab wants to do an attack in the US, possibly at a shopping mall.
Now the rethugs can excel at what they do best -act like the traitors they are.

  2. Again, the only way to shine a light on these RW extremists is to get the public involved!
DHS or the FBI has to do a better job communicating to the public; the danger, what to look for in your community, and how to report individuals or groups you suspect are capable of doing harm……this would not be your local law enforcement!
    Great article Rmuse.

  3. I’ve seen this coming for quite some time, the dems including the executive branch have been sitting on their hands as usual, waiting for what? a war to brake out? before you know it their knee jerk reaction will be to late, and law abiding citizens will become the cross hairs of their AK 47 political target! What are they waiting for? a takeover of this country by people that obviously don’t belong.

  4. cause they love the anti hero like Cliven Bundy, George Zimmerman and other anti heroes! I weep for this country when and if when our nation is attack by extreme right wing groups when the DHS is shut down and who will the GOP blame?? that’s right our president!!!!! but the huge blame goes to the GOP both House and Senate GOP members like Bohener and McConnell! and the GOP will destroy our nation and there are doing it right now!

  5. Republicans are traitors.

They’re hypocrites of the first order, wearing a Made in China lapel pin of the American flag while disrespecting everything about the United States – including the Constitution, the Federal Gov’t, democracy, the Liberal vision of our Founding Fathers, the separation of church and State, the president (if he’s not a Republican and the acceptable skin color), and everything else that has made and continues to make our country great and exceptional.

Republicans are closeted Neo-Confederates disguised as U.S. patriots. They don’t CARE about being part of the United States. It’s why they usually refer to this country as America (or Murika) instead of United States – because they don’t feel as if they’re part of a United States. The Confederate States never felt part of a united country.

So as with everything else, judge them by their actions, not their words – or Made in China lapel pins – and you’ll see they’re traitors, not patriots.

  6. Saw a documentary about the 90’s and it covered David Koresh in Waco. He was a Christian right wing extremist. Clinton had Janet Reno get tough with him and we know the end result. But that action got Tim Mcveigh radicalized enough to bomb the Oklahoma building. I think that is the reason President Obama and Eric a Holder didn’t go after Cliven Bundy.

That said I think they are monitoring these types on the Internet and are better prepared to stop one of their attacks.

And the boots they should be sending to the Middle East to fight ISIS should be the sovereign citizen, AK toting right wing extremists. They can have their fantasizes of shooting brown people and we should keep them over there starting in October 2016.

  7. Yes, supporting extremism against America keeps the GOP in power because they are bought and paid for by the military-industrial complex. They hate Obama because Obama is keeping us from a full-bore military assault on the middle east.

  8. Yep. The latest budget cuts ($300 million) to the IRS is delaying my IRS refund. They fired 1,800 full-time IRS assistants.

I’ve been waiting for my refund for 4 weeks now – e-filed on 1/23 and it was accepted 1/23. System errors were dominant between 1/20 – 1/30.

Anyway, now I’ve read in a Virginian newspaper (online) that there was a computer glitch on CoveredCA and the when processing the 1095-A’s (the W-2’s for subsidized health insurance), and being from CA I’ve been “flagged”.

So after calling the IRS and explaining financial hardship – the only way to expedite your refund – I’m handed over to the CA Tax Advocate to plead my case (most likely need to provide a copy of my 1095-A that has had NO errors).

A tip for people also waiting for their refund – CALL 1-800-829-1040 use prompts 1-2-2-4-1 to speak to a live person.

I’ve never had to wait more than 6 days for my refunds since they began offering direct deposit. Heading into my 5th week.

  9. Orwell was right in that politicians have corrupted the English language. Just look at how the words liberal and conservative in this country is misused. Liberals have a proud history and gave us the liberal values as set out in the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of the Rights of man, the Canadian Charter of Human Rights, etc.

Conservatives at their core believe, to some degree, in maintaining the status quo. As such the regimes of N. Korea, Iran, Syria, are conservative regimes.

In the western world real liberals and conservatives are both defenders of liberal values. The difference is the degree of progress that should be implemented. Liberals are progressive with a big P, conservatives with a small p. In that regard I am a conservative in the western tradition of the word.

Unfortunately, in the US today, right wing radicals have draped themselves with the word conservative, and have demonized the word liberal. Orwell was right.

  10. I have been amazed since the election of a Black Man to the Presidency of USA how many militant..white..racist…terrorist …have come out blatantly from the holes they’ve been…militias…the resurgence of KKK tactics…the disrespect shown to a President right in the chamber while he makes State of the Union to the Country…right up to today a Guiliani … the Sarah Palins…Nugent…all under the guise of freedom of speech and the banner to bear arms..this country has lost their moral compass & when they come back under the ‘Christian’ Logo… like we are no worse than ISIS..when there is injustices done every single day all over this country … & that has nothing to do w/Alquada..or ISIS or ISIL or Christianity…because there is no G-d be it Muslim…Buddhist…Hindu…Morman…and Yes Jesus never ever ever ever promoted the common barometer of a Terrorist and that is HATE…THEY NEVER PROMOTED HATE…

  11. Those Christian extremists Obama was referring to. No wonder they got so defensive when he mentioned them!

  12. The TP/GOP are following a strategy of War against the USA people and Federal Government. It is past time for people in the USA to get past the denial stage and act before all is lost.

  13. Ding, ding, ding.. I wish I can favorite you again.. “Homeland Security Chief Urges Caution After Threat To Mall Of America”:
Speaker Boehner recessed congress on taxpayers dime without a contingency plan or funding for national security. Which all TV media give is cheat tabloid sensationalism (which its proper name is ‘Yellow Journalism’). {Wikipedia Yellow Journalism}.

  15. I have to push back a little on GWC comment.
    1) Jeh Johnson been talking about this at every outlet he can (speeches, op-eds, interviews) all except TV media which either down played or block it all together. Their’s articles dated back over a months> 2 months old.
    2) The TV networks have their own agenda and that mean we don’t have real journalist anymore. We have ‘Yellow Journalism’ (wikipedia Yellow Journalism). For the last 2 weeks all we heard about is a have been racist politicans, repub. governors slashing their budget to cover up giveaways and racist politician saying salacious venomous comments includes foreign politician.

  16. I have to agree with your statement regarding yellow journalism as practiced by the modern media. These are corporate owned entities that I believe have their own agenda to pursue. If you look at Fox news and even MSNBC you are getting commentary rather than straight forword news.As officer Friday would say”Just the facts mam just the facts.[no gender disrespect intended by that quote.]

  17. FLASH… Down here in LA, Lower Alabama, we have hundreds of crazy Baptists running around hitting unbelievers with crosses. Just this past weekend a 100+ folks having breakfast at a local Cracker Barrel were attacked by these Baptists who were concerned by these folks not attending church. Several injuries occurred. The governor was arranging to send in the National Guard… Local Methodist are showing similar behavior as the Baptists… Dark Day ahead?

  18. The Reich Wing wants to keep us in a perpetual state of war or in a state of impending doom at all times. Only when fear can be countered by faux patriotism and religious fervor can they achieve their sick agenda. It is high time we move to legislate the Reich Wing into oblivion.

  19. WOW!!what crack pots!! so hitting another with a cross is supposed to do what?
As for having breakfast is stead of going to church, how do these so called “Christian” decide who attended and who did not? some attend on Sat night, or don’t the people in Al know this?
Question: How the h— can anyone live in such a State?

  20. Grandpa Dave, It is not a stretch to say with certainty that those crosses will soon be firearms and the NRA will have bus loads of attorneys shouting about 2nd Amendment rights and that the victims deserved it by antagonizing the Christians and not owning a gun. They WILL get away with it without jail time, you watch!
