Louie Gohmert Says Iraq War a Mistake. Because Obama

gohmert caricature
Here’s your answer for whether or not the Iraq War was a mistake, and for statements of fact, like, “Jeb, your brother, before he took up painting nudes of himself bathing, created ISIL.”

You didn’t know there was an answer that made Bush the greatest military mind of the 20th or any other century, if not for one, single, black, Muslim terrorist sympathizer named Barack Obama, did you?

Well, there is, and it comes out of the mouth of Rep. Louie “How the **** Did I Get Elected? I Mean, **** I’m Not Even Qualified to be a Dog Catcher on the South Pole” Gohmert (R-TX).

Was the Iraq War a mistake, Louie, you “student of history”?

“[I]f President Bush had known that he would have a total incompetent follow him…he would have to think twice…”

Of course, Gohmert is not alone. The Orange Man has spoken too:

What gains, you ask? Save your breath. As Jeb has reminded us, Dubya is our problem, not his. Or the Republican Party’s, it seems.

So no worries here about a rush to war against a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and in fact, was as opposed to al Qaeda as we were, about constantly shifting lies and excuses for invading, about non-existent WMDs, about tens – perhaps hundreds – of thousands of dead Iraqis and millions of refugees, about a thoroughly bungled occupation and reconstruction characterized by torture, graft, and corruption, and resultant destabilization of the entire Middle East which led to the creation of ISIL.

But Gohmert says, “I don’t trust this administration.”

THIS administration? I can’t remember the last country President Obama invaded on a false pretext, or on any pretext. I can’t remember a war George W. Bush won, honestly or dishonestly.

Mission Accomplished? Only if your plan was to destroy America’s reputation and the world’s economy along with Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Seems a steep price-tag to me.

Yet for Gohmert, the problem here isn’t that the American people were lied to by the Bush administration as it led us into an illegal war so they could plunder an oil-rich country for personal gain. Nossir.

The problem is that Bush would apparently somehow be going down in history as a new Alexander the Great if not for his successor, Barack H. Obama.

The argument seems to be that Barack Obama retroactively pulled defeat out of the jaws of victory and destroyed George W. Bush’s presidency.

Even in Texas, how does a guy like Louie Gohmert get elected?

This is what he told Virginia talk radio host John Fredericks in response to efforts by Virginia’s Sen. Tim Kaine to obtain for President Obama a new Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) against the Islamic State – you know, the guys who have the Republicans shaking in their undies:

So, thank you very much, Mr. Kaine, but you need to tell your buddy in the Democratic Party to actually start fighting our enemies and quit helping our enemies and help our friends instead and quit worrying about a new AUMF. He would be able to defeat ISIS if he just starts helping our friends and stops helping the enemies.

Tell us what you really think, Senator Gohmert.

“That AUMF, it’s a red herring, it’s a crock. The problem is the president’s on the wrong side. That’s the real problem.”

Because Texas. I don’t know how else to explain this **** other than the failure of Santa Anna to subjugate these people back in 1836. All hope for the future fled with that missed opportunity.

That’s right, Louie Gohmert wasn’t finished spewing the contents of his lower intestine:

I mean, seriously, John, you think a new AUMF is all of a sudden going to give us a president that will fight with the right people over there and win over there, really?

Everybody else wants to ask that question of, ‘Gee, would you have gone into Iraq if you’d known what you know now?’ And I think if President Bush had known that he would have a total incompetent follow him that would not even be able to negotiate a status of forces agreement with Iraq and start helping our enemies and just totally put the Middle East in chaos, then he would have to think twice about doing anything if he had known he would have such a total incompetent leader take over after him. That should be the question.

Well, you know…the SOFA was negotiated and agreed to by George W. Bush. Obama simply honored it rather than re-invading a country that never wanted us there in the first place.

No, the question should be, why are you an elected official and not bothering other patients in a psychiatric ward?

Louie told a Tea Party gathering in Houston back in January that,

As a student of history, and I still am a student history, the only way a guy like me could ever get elected to be speaker would be is if we were during a time of all-out war and people had figured, ‘Wow, Louie’s been right all along and maybe we should give him a chance.’ That’s the only — we’re not going to elect me in a time of undeclared war and I know that and I understood that.

I got news for you, Louie. Not even in time of war. Especially not in time of war. But I bet we can get you a job on a dude ranch, because you seem to know a lot about bull****.

  1. Republicans cry a river when they are reminded of their dumbfukery and then they never disappoint when their elected leaders open their mouth.

The sad thing is the baggers believe this nonsense like Katrina was President Obamas fault.

  2. Now some reality
Washington asks, “Who lost Ramadi?” But Washington never had Ramadi

In early 2005, I wondered if the Sunni insurgency could eventually turn into a “Third Baath coup.” By that I meant that the remnants of the Baath Party (socialist, nationalist) allied with Salafi Muslim hardliners were systematically killing members of the new political class being stood up by the Bush administration, and were angling to take back over the country. We now know that former Baath officers set up the so-called “Islamic State” as a means of gaining recruits for their ongoing insurgency, at a time when the Baath Party no longer had any cachet but political Islam seemed a growing trend. The ex-Baath/ Salafi cells of resistance were all along strong in Ramadi.

  3. What an interesting world that the Republicans choose to live in: Anything they do- is always right. If anything they do is wrong- pull out the Blamethrower onto the nearest available scapegoat.

And so they continue- wishing to dig even deeper…

  4. Who votes for ignoramuses such as this guy; we don’t have to worry about terrorists these mooks are causing our nation more grief and danger through their pure stupidity.

  5. I’m not a violent person at all, However I would relish punching Louie Gohmert dead in his ignorant face as many times as I could before getting arrested. And that arrest would be a badge of honor! My mugshot would be “my close-up Mr. DeMille” and I would account it a lifetime achievement. These people should be the object of the knock out game that sadly is directed at innocent people instead of these horrid sub-human people like Louie Gohmert.

  6. What do you expect…texas.

I wonder if anyone back home is reviewing his judicial decisions. Goober Gohmert and judicial decision somehow does not compute.

  7. Sam Houston would’ve had Gohmert and Cruz escorted
off the premises at the Alamo and delivered to the
    Mexican army.

  8. —–Well, there it is, Rep. Louie “How the **** Did I Get Elected? I Mean, **** ….Not Even Qualified to be a Dog Catcher on the South Pole” Gohmert (R-TX).—–

This Gomer Pyle character is an embarrassment to the State of Texas, to the Congress and to the American People. Yes, HOW was this guy elected? ! WHAT sweet spot in this man’s character did the voters kiss on? I don’t know, WHO ARE these people who vote these low-shelf people in to represent them. Shame on them.

  9. Louie Goober is just one of a series of GOP embarassments for Texas. We had our own Ll Abner for Gov, (now thinks he is presidential material). Now his successor Abbott has ordered the guard to spy on the military exercises to be sure the federal gov is not
    planning to “take over Texas”.

  10. Perhaps not JCBlues, my hands are tough after years of pulling a squeegee and they are bigger than most peoples hands. I’ve put my hands up to the hands of some pretty big guys and the difference is astounding. And besides I would gladly work through the pain.

  11. Louie is capitalizing on the advantage of hindsight and his current views are probably diametrically opposite of what he would have said if faced with making the Iraq decision in 2003. Hind-
sighters are always correct and a dime a dozen. The SOFA negotiated by Bush in 2008 was not binding on Obama and could have been changed to provide for leaving troops in Iraq. Obama did not want a new SOFA and the old one allowed him to blame Bush as he has done for the past six years. Obama is indecisive, weak ninny and is viewed as such by most foreign governments. Good Luck America !!!

  12. djchefron- you live in a bubble..Obama left IRAQ just for political reasons and never considered how it would fall to ruin without a strong military presence in place. Go get a job!

  13. djchefron- Yet another misconception…your a poor ole fella to think for one second Iraq’s gov even should have a say as to when we leave or not. All you libtards wanted out..so now we have a mess on our hands..Thanks for yet another mess we have to clean up…

  14. Dumbass read sometimes I provided you a link here is another one
PRESIDENT BUSH: Mr. Prime Minister, thank you for your kind invitation and your hospitality. I also want to thank the presidency council for their hospitality, as well. And I’m looking forward to some food. (Laughter.)

I am also looking forward to signing the joint statement here affirming two landmark agreements that solidify Iraq’s democratic gains, that recognize Iraq’s sovereignty, and that puts the relations between our two countries on a solid footing today and a solid footing tomorrow. They cement a strategic partnership between our two countries, and they pave the way for American forces to return home, as the war in Iraq approaches a successful end.

You people are stupid. This is from your glorious cod piece asshole of leader in his own words

  15. Well in amongst all the garbage being spewed the uneducated are right about one thing. Obama could have negotiated a new SOFA.

What they are wrong about is legion, however.
Obama did try to negotiate a new SOFA. However, neither he nor anybody else in this country were willing to agree to the terms required by Iraq, the most important being that US troops would be subject to all laws of Iraq and could be held in Iraqi jails and tried in Iraqi courts.

Secondly, keeping troops there without Iraq’s consent would have been illegal (after all, Iraq is a sovereign country).

Thirdly, keeping 10,000 troops there would have meant absolutely nothing in terms of avoiding what has been happening there.

Finally, even the military leaders felt it would be useless to remain.

  16. You just made the case. The right will not admit we were lied into this debacle. They wont admit it was against international law. They wont admit the so call surge was nothing more than religious cleansing by the Shia against the Sunni. They wont admit this was a war for resources. They wont admit that with our actions we made Iran stronger. They wont admit the utter incompetence of the bush regime laid the groundwork for ISIS.

In other words they and the media wont admit what a colossal fuk up they inflicted on us, the world economy and the Middle East.

  17. So Liberty, let me get this straight about what you are saying. In other words – putting the shoe on the other foot analogy – if we the USA get invaded by another country for whatever reason they can cook up on the basis of saving us from ourselves – we the USA would not have the right to say we want you to leave?

Is that what you are saying?

BTW – the Iraqi’s wanted us out the minute we stepped foot into their country. Just like we would not be too happy about any unasked for saviors.

  18. Here is a VIDEO of OBAMA speaking about how and I quote..Obama “I said id end the war in IRAQ- I ended it.” But yet here we are with a colossal mess in Iraq.

    The video above speaks for itself but here’s a selection of choice quotes;

“Remind them that this is the president that ended the war in Iraq.” Michelle Obama.

“He has taken good care of our men and women in uniform, he has ended the war in Iraq.” Bill Clinton.

“We ended the war in Iraq.” Joe Biden.

“I’ve kept the commitments I’ve made, I told you we’d end the war in Iraq, we did.” President Obama.

“You know I say what I mean and I mean what I say – I said I’d end the war in Iraq, I ended it.” President Obama.

What a complete joke for a president…But don’t worry me any many others fight for even your freedom to walk blindly into communism..

  19. You are an idiot. First what does our illegal invasion of Iraq has to do with Communism and BTW the next time your dumbass shop at walmart and you take the time read whatever junk you buy it comes from communist countries. So you are a fuking quisling for supporting communism.

Second. I don’t care if President Obama said he ended the war, we never should have been there in the first place and if there was any justice in the world the bush cabal should have been tried for war crimes
    Nuremberg principles
    Principle VI

“The crimes hereinafter set out are punishable as crimes under international law:
    (a) Crimes against peace:(i) Planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances;(ii) Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the acts mentioned under (i).

  20. LFA, you, like your hero Gomer-the Fraud is either a Teatard or a Teaturd…not sure which…it’s obvious you never served this country or anything but yourself…INTERNATIONAL LAW said we had to leave Iraq when the Iraqis said “Go Away”…
…as a Navy veteran who has actually served in that part o’ the world getting anything done is incredibly complex, there are NO easy answers…not what people who ignore facts and depend on IDIOTOLOGY can handle.
Until you learn to deal with facts do yourself a favor and STFU.
