  1. I’m not so quick to mark them off of the list yet. They DID include that stupid little ‘religious exception’ for the groups funded by religious organizations.

    WITH more and more American institutions becoming inclusive and even openly gay-friendly, the Boy Scouts of America has just reaffirmed its unregenerate straights-only status: a special committee, formed in 2010, recently announced the organization’s intention of sticking with the 2000 Supreme Court decision that it is within its constitutional rights to exclude gays from leadership roles. All this is richly ironic in view of the fact that the founder of the Boy Scouts, Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (raised to the peerage as Lord Baden-Powell) was in probability a gay man himself — though closeted, of course, considering the circumstances

  3. They are still anti-gay. Nationally they ban discrimination, but they still allow locals to do so. That’s discrimination. That’s still hate. That’s still wrong. And it’s still the BSA.

    When they say ALL are welcome – Straight, Gay, in between or otherwise … When ALL are welcome – Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Atheist or otherwise …

    That will be the day they truly are morally straight (per BSA: being morally straight means to live your life with honesty, to be clean in your speech and actions, and to be a person of strong character) and Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
