It wasn’t surprising that former President Carter knew so much about cancer given his family history, but he was very open in sharing the details of his diagnosis and treatment plan.

Former President Carter announced that the cancer had spread to his brain and that he was cutting back his workload to receive treatment. Carter said that he expects more cancer to be diagnosed, but he decided to undergo treatment and fight the disease.

Carter said, “I was surprisingly at ease, more so than my wife was. But now I feel this is in the hands of God, and I’ll be prepared for anything that comes. I’m ready for anything, and looking forward to a new adventure.”

The former president also discussed his current health, “I feel good, I haven’t felt any weakness or debility. The pain has been very slight.”

Jimmy Carter remains focused on his work. Carter is going to surrender to cancer, and he is going to use every day that he has remaining on this planet to help other human beings. Former President Carter said that he never doubted that he would undergo treatment after he was diagnosed.

He said that he was pleasantly surprised that he didn’t go into an attitude of despair or anger. He might have surprised himself with his attitude, but no one else should be shocked. Mr. Carter has always put the needs of others first, and it is clear that he is waging this battle with cancer in order to give himself more time to continue his work.

Jimmy Carter gained fame from his career in politics, but cancer is not a political disease. It doesn’t recognize party affiliation. Former President Carter is a good Christian, who is maintaining his faith when faced with his own mortality.

Even at the age of 90, there is no quit in Jimmy Carter. Former President Carter is conducting himself in a way that we all hope we would when confronted with such challenges. If anyone can beat cancer, even at the age 90, it’s Jimmy Carter.
