Ted Cruz Urges Pastors to Join His War on Women

Ted Cruz really has it in for American women. This false messiah has decided that women don’t deserve the right to make their own reproductive choices, but what’s worse, he wants to eliminate a very important part of their overall care: access to Planned Parenthood’s many non-abortion services, including cancer screenings, STD treatments, contraception, and more.

And he wants the nation’s pastors to help him radicalize their congregations. He has even prepared a sample sermon for them: “The Cry of the Innocent for the Soul of a Nation,” brought to you by the woman-haters at David Lane’s American Renewal Project.

Because you can’t renew America without putting women back in their place. What’s funny is that this is how Al Qaeda radicalizes Muslims.

But here’s the sermon. See what you think:

Proverbs provides clear insight into God’s character. He has a personal hatred for seven things. God judges them to be so odious that they are an abomination to Him. His character will never allow His hatred of an abomination to evolve into a toleration of it. His children should be resolved to reflect His character, not to redefine it.

The Wise give shape to their personal and national character by loving what God loves and hating what God hates. Fools worship gods created by their vain imagination. They drift from the compass of God’s character. Their ears become deaf to His voice and their hearts become calloused to the touch of His hand. Any accumulative error of moral judgment is disastrous on a personal and a national level.

The abomination of any individual or any nation begins with the first act of disobedience to God. He finds rebellion disgusting, abhorrent and repugnant because it leads to a separation from Him and a loss of intimacy with Him.

When an individual or a nation stiff arms the character of God and embraces an abomination as the law of the land, it ends in disaster. When rebellious people disregard the compass of the most powerful, it is a very short step to dismembering the bodies of the most vulnerable. Like other nations, America has taken that step. It is time for a turnaround.

Recent videos exposing the gruesome practice of Planned Parenthood’s harvesting of the organs of babies from their mother’s womb. Exposing evil to the light of day has brought waves of sorrow to millions of tenderhearted people. Sorrow is redemptive only when it leads to repentance. Repentance requires a stopping point and a turning point. Without both there is no Spiritual Awakening on a personal or a national level.

There must be a point in which the accumulative error of an evil decision thrust upon the nation by secularist jurists stops. It must be followed by a turnaround that is spiritual, not political. That day has come. Let the breath in your lungs be used to pray for it to begin in your own heart.

A repentant person turns towards Jesus, and receives God’s forgiveness. A praying church mobilizes an army of repentant people calling on God to use His children as instruments to guide lost people and a wayward nation back to The Father. God can do more in five minutes, through the life of one obedient person than millions of rebels can accomplish in 50 years of their own effort. Be the one. The Victory is His. Pray for it. It is only a breath away.

After you pray for your life to be back on course, pray for your Congressmen and Senators to hear from God regarding the ending of the slaughter of the innocent. Let them know that you are praying for them, and you are expecting them to do the right thing. You will no longer tolerate any excuse when they have the chance to vote to end government sponsored support of the murder and dismemberment of babies in this session of Congress. God hates it. You can stop it. For God’s sake, make it happen.

Slaughter of the innocent. This from the party that refuses to help feed and clothe and educate them after they are born. There is nothing pro-life about this position. If they were pro-life, they would not expect women to die so a child can be born, even when it’s a fetus that might itself die at or soon after birth.

The assumption that every American must turn towards Jesus is simply appalling, an attitude dating from the Theodosian Code of the early fifth century, which expected everybody to become Christian – the right kind of Christian – or suffer the consequences.

Well, women today are suffering the consequences.

All because they say no to letting Ted Cruz make their healthcare decisions for them. And if they say no, they are guilty of waging a war on Christianity, a meme that, as Simon Brown at AU’s Wall of Separation pointed out the other day, was debunked a long time ago.

Nobody is waging a war on Cruz’s religion. They just want to be left alone to make their own decisions. Like the United States Constitution guarantees.

What Cruz is calling for is nullification of the First Amendment. No surprise here either since the only amendments Republicans approve of are the Second and Tenth.

And all in the name of a lie, the lie that the Bible condemns abortion. It does not. It no more condemns abortion than it does gays and lesbians, or declares that marriage is between one man and one woman.

Ted Cruz is a liar. He wants America’s pastors to join him in that lie, to serve the Father of Lies rather than the God to whom they pretend allegiance.

He is, in fact, little different in outlook from the terrorists Hillary Clinton compared Republicans to the other day. Worse, from a Christian standpoint, he has, in his own language, declared himself the Anti-Christ.

  1. There are a lot of well meaning people who will be handed their heads over this. The assumption that any religion should or could dictate its values in a pluralistic society is wrong: dead wrong.

Religion is slowly losing its “favored” status in this country. They need to be careful! For far too long all religions have been given preferential treatment in our society. If they push too far, they may lose their tax exemptions along with the “religious freedom” get-out-of-jail cards. A secular society can become just as intolerant as it has been overly tolerant. Cruz and anyone buying his BS are walking on egg shells…

  2. I don’t know much about all that religious mumbo jumbo, but for a politician to ask churches to break the law seems like a reason to charge him with conspiracy to commit a crime. Church’s are not allowed to present political sermons. They have a tax exempt status, given to them on the premise that they don’t use the pulpit to present political ideas, and force partisan views to their congregants.

I’ve often thought Cruz a nut-job, but he seems to always go over the top when it comes to political practices forced on in the religious sphere.

  3. So is he ready to line us up and sell us to the highest bidder so the women in this country will become sex slaves and stone us to death if we don’t comply, all in the name of religion?

  4. Cruz proves once again that “pro-life” is code for “religious belief that women need to be subservient to men.”

Want to get stop abortions that aren’t medically necessary? Make abortion unnecessary.

    Contraceptives, not chastity belts.

Information and education, not religious propaganda, lies, and bible verses.

Respect; not rape culture, stigmatizing single mothers, and objectifying women.

Financial and child-rearing support from fathers, not dead-beat dads.

Equal pay and a living wage; not income inequity, glass ceilings, and employment discrimination.

Access to local healthcare that’s affordable and reliable; not these repeated attempts to stop the ACA and defund Planned Parenthood.

A woman should always be able to make her own decisions. Maybe, though, in better conditions, she wouldn’t have to consider abortion.

  5. …the solution is obvious: re-anoint Cruz with a brickbat until he quits attacking others…
…then while the rest o’ the Teahadists are running for cover call the head o’ the IRS and tell him/her to pull thier head out and investigate ALL the “nonprofits” including politicizing churches…
…then as you pass Cruz on the way out, kick him in the balls to drive the lesson home…

  6. Good article…thanks!
And something needs to happen here in the not so United States!

Religion has NO place in politics!

  7. Again this fanatic, Ted Cruz, has forgotten about separation of church and state.
Perhaps people should be screened for comprehension of the Constitution before they are allowed to run for the office of POTUS.

    Just shaking my head here…

  8. You do realize that the term “separation of church and state” is not actually in the constitution, or any other federally recognized document for that matter. Just trying to “screen for comprehension”.

  9. Reply to
JohnyWonk. Crimes are committed all the time but unless it falls under an honest attorney general they will go unpunished. One only has to see Bush torture program or 47 senators that openly try to undermine a sitting president for examples. Congress has avenues to deal(somewhat) with these instances but partisanship cancels it out.

  10. Separation of church and state” (sometimes “wall of separation between church and state”) is a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson and others expressing an understanding of the intent and function of the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Since the First Amendment clearly places the restrictions solely on the state, some argue a more correct phrase would be the “separation of state FROM church”. Either way, the “separation” phrase has since been repeatedly used by the Supreme Court of the United States.
Did you ever take a class in Civics?

  11. These videos are more than a year old. The GOP knew about them before they were made public. They were made and released so these assholes would have something to run on. Since they have no problem lying about anything they are running with this. Cruz who has had one goal thinks he can be POTUS with less than three years in elected office and no accomplishments can just waltz in and get what he wants. People are fools if they think him and his lying ass daddy would be good for this country. Where is this man’s mother? It’s like she wants nothing to do with this slime ball.

  12. Cruz and Sanders are the misogynists of this election cycle and neither will become President of the United States. Hillary Clinton holds the women’s votes and that is a very good thing.

  13. This question should be asked over and over again. As a Presidential candidate you’d think she would be out there helping…??? Not a word from her. Maybe she is to ashamed to claim. him!! I would be. He, is nothing to proud of. Or perhaps his Father and Mother were never married? There sure is a reason she is so quite. Wonder what lies beneath the rock of silence. Now it this were a Democratic Candidate, want to bet the news media would be scrambling all over themselves to find the reason.

  14. …false equivalency…the lazy-assed way to avoid doing any actual research…also a form o’ projection {The “Shared Responsibility” ploy}
…Trolls love this, as they have no facts to give…

  15. The separation of church & state was the first thought that came to my mind when I was reading this, also I don’t find it the least bit surprising that Cruz is advocating that churches break the law because it’s not something that the GOP would ever think twice about. However, if it was a Democratic Congressman promoting the same, the GOP would be screaming in outrage. Just another example of IOKIYAR.

Also, how can anyone disagree with what you’ve said? Do you not agree that we have laws regarding the separation of church & state? What part don’t you agree with?

  16. Great post, Jane. Simply explained and yet gets right to the heart of the matter. These same RW’ers who claim to abhor abortion and wish to stop it also refuse to care for these children once they are out of the womb. Their hypocrisy has no limits.

  17. Well apparently she is the good subservient woman who posts all sorts of “vote for my son” bullshit on her FB page and prays for “godly” theocrats to get into office. That’s the extent of her commentary.
