Incompetent John Boehner Forced To Cancel House Vote On His Own Iran Resolution

House Republicans are so inept that they were forced to cancel a vote on their resolution of disapproval on the Iran deal after a rebellion broke out on the right.

The Hill reported:

House Republican leaders are delaying a vote on the Iran nuclear deal scheduled for Wednesday because of a rebellion from rank-and-file conservatives.

The House was to hold a procedural vote to begin 11 hours of debate on a resolution disapproving the deal at 1 p.m. Instead, they will gather at 4 p.m. to discuss strategy.

“We will continue the conversation on Iran from this morning and discuss strategy for the rest of the week,” a GOP leadership aide said.

Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus are demanding that the Obama administration send side deals between Iran and international nuclear inspectors to Congress as part of the Iran deal now under consideration. Opponents of the deal have argued that the clock on congressional consideration of the deal has not even begun until these side deals are submitted.

Republicans are literally trying to change the definition of time by claiming that the clock on their window to consider the deal hasn’t started yet. The 60-day window for Congress to consider the deal is scheduled to expire on September 17. If House Republicans don’t get their act together within a week, they are going to lose their right to have any say on the deal.

Speaker of the House John Boehner and his leadership team are so bad at their jobs that they can’t keep Republicans together long enough to take a vote on a resolution that they all agree on.

The dramatics coming from the Republican side of the House are nothing more than pointless grandstanding. President Obama already has the votes in the Senate to block the resolution of disapproval, but Republicans may do the job themselves.

House Republicans spent the majority of the time that they were supposed to be considering the Iran deal on vacation, and like a student who ignored his/her homework until the last minute, they are now looking to get out of the assignment.

The overgrown Republican children in the House are throwing a new tantrum, and the worst parent/Speaker of the House in history is powerless to stop them.

  1. …and this is the legacy o’ the Reich Wing…NOTHING gets done because NOTHING is 100% aligned with their Idiotocracy…these Dodo Birds need to go extinct, or get extincted…

  2. Yup, They got control of both houses and indeed they have demonstrated their ability to “Get the job done.”

  3. There is no such thing as side deals. Just calling it a “side deal” attaches a sinister nature to it. That’s not how it’s viewed by IAEA and other arms control experts. The Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation points out:

Some critics are calling this a secret side deal between the IAEA and Iran; however, this is standard operating procedure, and every such agreement the IAEA has with other countries is also confidential. This was even true during the IAEA’s inspections into Libya. […]
The arrangement specifies procedural information regarding how the IAEA will conduct its investigation into Iran’s past nuclear history, including mentioning the names of informants who will be interviewed. Releasing this information would place those informants, and the information they hold, at risk.

  4. Now the drunk one blinked again. Peter Roskum introduced a new resolution with the potential to delay consideration of the nuclear agreement that the House was slated to vote on Friday, specifically chosen because it’s September 11, making the obvious fearmongering connection between the terrorism launched that day which Iran had nothing to do with.

GOP rep tries to halt Iran vote over ‘side deals’

These people have no shame at all. This shit is not going anywhere because as soon as they vote for it the Senate will kill it.

  5. I know! Let’s de-fund… uhhh… something and maybe people won’t notice that we can’t even pass a symbolic vote going nowhere.

  6. So…how many GOP Non-Representatives do we need to change a light bulb?

    100 to whine about it.

75 form committees to evaluate the situation, pros & cons of changing it.

25 to boycott the evaluation meetings.

35 to pray about it & seek guidance from elsewhere.

5 to call maintenance to bring the ladder

5 to cancel the maintenance order

Total=246, stay in the darkness is better!

  7. Good things happen for peace and for the United States when congressional Democrats and a strong Democratic president unite to quash disastrous Republican attempts to destroy this country on every level.

Republican losses are gains for everyone.

  8. Hell.
In any other other line of work, they would have been blacklisted so no one would ever hire them again…

  9. obama is KICKIN GOP BUTT BEATING THEM AT THE FORIEGN POLICY GAME…. Obama is walkin the walkin

  10. We’ve gone from the PRODUCTIVE DEMOCRATIC PARTY leading congress…..

The 111th Congress, led by Speaker of the house democrat from California Nancy Pelosi, is one of the most productive in History, next to the 89th that came in with John William McCormack, a democrat from Massachusetts.
ALL of course in contrast to what we have now, one of THE most unproductive Congress’s in our History with the worst SOTH Boehner.

The 112th, 113th and now the 114th have been the LEAST PRODUCTIVE and the most DYSFUNCTIONAL in our history.

why are they getting our DEMOCRATIC-SOCIALIST tax $$$$ ???

  11. they’re being paid by our DEMOCRATIC-SOCIALIST tax $$$$$ to do NOTHING but WHINE and play childish games

  12. In my best Jim Nabors voice:

    “Surprise, Surprise” — NOT.

This has been habitual with the ReTHUGS. They yap like a yappy dog that they’re against everything, then don’t want to take a vote on the issues as that would attach a form of responsibility to them.

Too bad many Americans can’t see through this and hold the proper party responsible for the DC government disaster. But then, that would mean the non-thinking, low IQ ReTHUGS would actually have to have a brain!!

As my Gran would have said — When they said they were handing out brains — the ReTHUGS thought they said Trains and went to the Train Station!!

  13. Boner is without a doubt the worst Speaker in the history of the US Congress. And there have been some real losers to hold that position so that is saying a lot.

  14. The US Cons in Congress must understand WE cannot stop the deal. The rest of the world can tell Us to go shit in a corner and make the deal Themselves and leave Us completely OUT. Contrary to Rep beliefs, the world does NOT wanna be just like Us. Matter of fact the world laughs at Us and Our do nothing congress.

  15. the sad thing is that unless we make massive progress at state and local levels in 2016 and 2020 it won’t get much better.
The way they have things gerrymandered they can hold the house forever.

  16. so let me see if I got this right. The clown caucus want a vote to not to vote for a deal that will be voted on anyway? You cant make this shit up

  17. …cannot resist…

{Q} How many cheerleaders does it take to change a light-bulb???
    {A}…you’re in a dark room full o’ cheerleaders…AND YOU’RE WORRIED ABOUT THE “F”ING LIGHTS???

  18. so is this what the GOP meant by “we will get a lot of work done” if they had the house and senate majorities? not only have they’ve done literally nothing this whole year, they have gotten even more dysfunctional and not only delusional, but psychotic as well.

  19. This exactly why the Constitution bars Congress from meddling in foreign affairs beyond Senate ratification of a done deal.

The people who set this system up were still fighting other countries over who ‘owned’ what. The last thing they could allow was negotiation by Congressional committee.

  20. But the Obama administration have to share some blame. They could have cut off all this bullshit from the beginning if they would have explain the details better. I guess they thought the public would read instead of being swayed by lies. Big mistake. The American people are stupid they don’t read all they do is turn on that idiot box and let people tell them what to think

  21. wrong SW

for this measure if they do nothing, then it passes

and if they can’t do something to stop this terrible treaty, don’t call it a deal, then it’s Reid’s fault

you can’t have it both ways
