60% of Americans Say Budget Deal Must Include Funding For Planned Parenthood

The latest poll by the Pew Research Center found that 60% of Americans disagree with the Republican Party and are insisting that any budget deal includes funding for Planned Parenthood.

According to Pew:

The latest national poll by the Pew Research Center, conducted Sept. 22-27 among 1,502 adults, finds that 60% say that any budget deal must maintain funding for Planned Parenthood while 32% say that any agreement must eliminate funding for the organization.

There are stark partisan divides in attitudes about the Planned Parenthood issue and in views of a budget compromise more generally. About eight-in-ten Democrats (83%) and 64% of independents say any budget agreement must maintain funding for the group. Two-thirds of Republicans (66%) say any agreement must eliminate Planned Parenthood funding.

As House Republicans hold a show hearing in the Oversight Committee over the edited Planned Parenthood videos, the majority of the American people not only support the organization, but they want it to remain funded.

Republicans are creating another “legitimate rape” issue for themselves by attacking Planned Parenthood. The GOP attempts to define Planned Parenthood as strictly an abortion provider is not working because 2.7 million Americans get their healthcare from Planned Parenthood.

The American people should be outraged by the fact that Republicans are defying the will of the majority by embarking on an ideological quest to defund a popular healthcare provider. Just as in election years past, Republicans are launching a politically motivated attack on women.

The American people want Planned Parenthood funded, and if Republicans continue down this track voters will make them pay dearly on Election Day in 2016.
