The conservatives at the Drudge Report are freaking out over “King Paul” – that’s Paul Ryan – saying he was “willing” to serve as Speaker, so long as his demands are met. They have an alarming headline taking center stage that accuses Paul Ryan of being a Dem favorite and Obama’s “new partner”.

This screaming hyperbole links to a Politico in which Senator Democrat Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) backed Paul Ryan for Speaker saying he’s a Ryan “fan”, giving the Wisconsin Republican what some said could be the “kiss of death”.

According to Politico, Reid said he sees Ryan as reasonable, whereas some of the other options…
“He appears to me to be one of the people over there that would be reasonable. I mean look at some of the other people. I don’t agree with him on much of what he does. I think what he’s done with Medicare and Medicaid, what he’s wanted to do I disagree with. But generally speaking, we’ve been able to work with him.”
This isn’t Harry Reid’s first rodeo, and he knows damn well what he’s doing. Reid just pushed conservatives over the edge, into a frenzy of paranoia and rage. They didn’t want Paul Ryan before, because of his semi-rational approach to immigration reform. But now they really don’t want him. Now he’s been branded as the devil, aka, Obama’s “partner”.
What a kick in the pants, given that Paul Ryan and his running mate Mitt Romney lost to President Obama in 2012.
