Million Dollar Baby Donald Trump Once Again Says Wages Are Too High

In case you thought it was a gaffe last night during the debate, asked this morning whether he would support raising the minimum wage, 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump once again said, “Our wages are too high.”

Not only does Trump not support raising the minimum wage, but our wages are “TOO HIGH”.

This time Trump said it on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Watch here:

Tuesday evening during the GOP debate, Trump was in line with every single other Republican candidate, who all oppose raising the minimum wage.

Watch here:

“Wages are too high,” Trump said. “We are a country that is being beaten on every front – economically, militarily. There is nothing that we do now to win. We don’t win anymore.”

Donald Trump thinks the federal minimum wage of $7.25 is “too high,” so forget $15.00 an hour. This from the guy who called the $1 million loan from his father “small.”

“My whole life really has been a ‘no’ and I fought through it. It has not been easy for me, it has not been easy for me,” Trump told New Hampshire voters at an NBC-sponsored town hall in late October. “I started off in Brooklyn, my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars.”

But wages are too high.

The closed down facial expressions of the Morning Joe audience should be a warning siren for the Republican Party. Sure, according to Mother Jones, Trump’s base is “A bit older, less educated, and less affluent than the average Republican,” but “One half of his voters have a high school education or less, compared to 19 percent with a college or post-graduate degree.”

Trump is supposed to be appealing to working whites, who have aspirations of being the next Trump. Of course they don’t realize that having a daddy who gives you a “small” $1 million dollar loan is more helpful in building wealth than voting for Donald Trump, but what the Republican Party really can’t afford right now is yet another clueless, older white guy telling Americans their wages are too high.

Trump’s message is that in order to make America great again, the working class will have to take another hit. This doesn’t fit well with his populist tone or the need of the Republican Party to pretend they care about working Americans.
