A new Bloomberg Politics/Purple Strategies Poll found that nearly two-thirds of Republican primary voters supported Donald Trump’s plan to ban all Muslims.
According to Bloomberg Politics:
Almost two-thirds of likely 2016 Republican primary voters favor Donald Trump’s call to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S., while more than a third say it makes them more likely to vote for him.

Those are some of the findings from a Bloomberg Politics/Purple Strategies PulsePoll, an online survey conducted Tuesday, that shows support at 37 percent among all likely general-election voters for the controversial proposal put forward by the Republican front-runner.
The poll confirms that Donald Trump’s racism is likely to help him with Republican primary voters and that the Republican Party is almost certain to lose the general election if they nominate Trump.
The thirty-seven percent of overall voters who support his proposal is likely to be roughly the same percentage of the popular vote that he will attract in a general election contest. The disconnect between Republican primary voters and the rest of the country is illustrated by the fact that no matter how much information voters are given, support for Trump’s plan never increases beyond 37%.
Donald Trump is leading the Republican presidential primary because he is catering to all of the racism, fear, and bigotry that drives large segments of that specific electorate, but Republican voters are so out of touch with the rest of the country that any candidate that caters to them can’t win a general election.
For years, it has been speculated that the demands of the Republican primary electorate are so extreme that they leave the nominee of the party unelectable. Trump has turned that model on its ear. Voters aren’t driving the potential nominee to the right; Trump is leading the Republican primary electorate to new extremes.
The racism within the Republican Party is no longer hidden. Donald Trump didn’t just embrace racism. He is attempting to ride a bigoted wave to the Republican presidential nomination.
