The Hillary Clinton campaign is urging Democrats to come together for a quick resolution of the Bernie Sanders/DNC lawsuit. The campaign also wants Sanders to access to his voter files right away.
In a statement, Clinton Press Secretary Brian Fallon reacted to the news that a federal judge may hear the Sanders lawsuit against the DNC tonight.
Fallon said, “We hope that the court will resolve this matter tonight and the Sanders campaign has access to their voter files right away, with adequate protections of our proprietary information, which we understand could be completed in short order. As we stated earlier today, we also want a full, independent accounting of the Sanders campaign’s actions, as well as assurances that no data or strategic insight from this act of intrusion will be used by his campaign. This was an egregious breach of data and ethics.”
When Democrats fight with each other over these issues, the Republicans win. There is no reason a judge can’t resolve this tonight, and the Sanders campaign gets immediate access to their voter files.
Democrats have spent the day denying blame and covering their backsides. The Sanders campaign is blaming the DNC. The DNC is blaming the Sanders campaign. The Clinton camp is angry because their entire strategy was viewed by their main opposition for the nomination, and they want to be protected from this ever happening again.
There has been a lot of blame passed around, but at some point, all sides need to unify to figure out exactly what needs to be done to secure all data and prevent this from happening again.
I suspect that this matter will be resolved before Saturday night’s debate, and we will see more acts of unity on the debate stage.
It is time for Democrats to come together and put this behind them. Democrats have won five of the last six presidential popular votes because they aren’t the Republicans.
Democratic unity is being tested, and it is time for all sides to rise to the occasion.
