The video was released on Twitter by the al-Kataib Media Foundation on Friday and CBS News reports “it’s gaining traction among Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) online channels.”
The 51-minute 44-second long film features Donald Trump calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.” Interestingly, the video bleeps out the word “hell.”
In the video, footage of the late al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al Awlaki is interspersed with that of Trump, Awlaki, who was killed in a 2011 drone strike, predicting the persecution of Muslims in the West:
“Muslims of the West, take heed and learn from the lessons of history. There are ominous clouds gathering in your horizon. Yesterday, America was a land of slavery, segregation, lynching and Ku Klux Klan. And tomorrow, it will be a land of religious discrimination and concentration camps.”
After the clip of Trump calling for a ban on Muslim immigration, the video shifts to al Awlaki once more, saying,
“The West will eventually turn against its Muslim citizens,” he says. He adds that American Muslims have two choices: “You either leave or you fight.”
It’s just as well that Clinton spokesperson Brian Fallon said “hell no” she won’t apologize to Donald Trump for saying that ISIS is “showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.”
“Hillary Clinton will not be apologizing to Donald Trump for correctly pointing out how his hateful rhetoric only helps ISIS recruit more terrorists.”
Until now, there has been no proof of such videos. But this one was released by al-Shabaab’s media arm al-Kataib. So there is no doubting its provenance.
CBS News tells us that, “According to SITE [Intelligence Group], the video — the second in a series on American jihadi fighters produced by al-Shabab — was widely distributed via Twitter and the encrypted messaging app Telegram on January 1.”
Oh dear, Donald Trump. What will you do now? Blame Hillary Clinton for putting the idea in their head to use your extreme, radicalized rhetoric against this country? After all, you can hardly be held accountable for the words coming out of your own mouth now, can you?
White male privilege and all.
Comments have already appeared in video comment sections to that effect, claims such as that below, that Hillary herself had the video made:
Hillary, just a few weeks ago, said Trump was being used in these Isis recruitment videos, but the media checked out her claim, and no videos existed. Hillary was proven to be a liar and the media talked about this for days. Isn’t it strange that now all at once this video pops up? Hillary obviously had this video made, to weasel her way out of her lie. Now she’ll say “I told you so”
There will be no convincing Trump fanboys and fangirls that their hero is flawed. But unless Hillary Clinton is secretly running a terrorist group’s media outlet – charge none of us would be surprised to hear Republicans make – this video is genuine, and yes, now she can say “I told you so.”
None of this is Hillary Clinton’s fault. It is Donald J. Trump’s fault. He is doing exactly what terrorists want him to do, and exactly what terrorist experts have warned not to do in response to terrorist attacks.
He’s made it worse. And as president, don’t expect he would suddenly try to make things better.
