Obama Triumphs As House Republicans Fail To Override Obamacare Repeal Veto

The 64th time was not the charm for House Republicans as Democrats stood tall and denied them the needed majority to override the President’s veto of the bill to repeal Obamacare.

The final vote was 241-186. Republicans needed Democratic votes to repeal the ACA and defund Planned Parenthood, but there was no chance that it was ever going to happen.

Earlier in the day, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was absolutely giddy and could not contain his excitement over the possibility of taking health insurance away from 22 million Americans if Republicans win the White House.
Ryan said, “Regardless of the outcome today, this fight will not end here! We have now forged a path — that is a clear path — to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate.†The endgame for Republicans is the same. They are out to prove that they can harm tens of millions of Americans through the legislative process.

As usual, there was little mention of a Republican plan to replace Obamacare. There is no Republican plan to replace the ACA. The GOP’s plan is to take the health insurance system back to the bad old days when patients had no rights, premiums were exploding, and coverage was at the whim of the insurance company.

President Obama won today, but the stakes for presidential election have been clearly laid out for all to see. Obama has been the firewall that stops Republicans from implementing their harmful agenda. 2016 will literally be a life or death election for thousands of Americans because a Republican president could be hazardous to your health.
