Ohio was the state that it was most likely for Bernie Sanders’ anti-trade agreement argument should have been most effective, so it speaks volumes that Clinton was able to halt any momentum that Sanders gained in Michigan by winning Ohio.
With her victory in Ohio, Clinton will win more states that Bernie Sanders on mini-Super Tuesday. The Sanders campaign was hoping that they could build on the Michigan win with a strategy that targeted the industrial Midwest. Instead of putting together a string of Rust Belt wins, the Clinton campaign has picked off Ohio.
The Buckeye State has long been Clinton country. The Clinton campaign worked hard in Ohio and had the state heavily organized. If there was a backbreaker win for Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders, it was Ohio. It really doesn’t matter what Sanders does for the rest of the night; Clinton has won big.
