Rep. Zeldin claimed that the Democratic Party is racist, “The policies that I have seen from the Democratic Party when you are microtargeting a community, and you are putting Blacks together and Hispanics together and certain economic message and positions on issues. Quite frankly, with the way I define racism, I see it a lot.”

Zeldin defended Trump’s character, “I think that Donald Trump as far as his character goes, he isn’t making that statement because he feels like he is superior because he is white and the judge is Mexican. I don’t believe he is making that statement because internally, he feels he is of a superior race.”

He continued on his Democrats are the real racist track, “Quite frankly, the agenda I see, and all the microtargeting to Blacks and Hispanics from a policy standpoint. You know, that’s more offensive to me, what I’ve seen through the years than this one statement, which I don’t believe is a result of Donald Trump feeling like he is superior, because he’s white and not Mexican.”

After being pressed by the CNN hosts on how Trump can both make racist statements and not be a racist, Rep. Zeldin argued that President Obama is the real racist, “But you can easily argue that the President Of The United States is a racist based on his rhetoric and his policies.”

Republicans have finally gone there. It is President Obama, not Donald Trump who the real racist. Those of us who are hearing and watching Trump make racist statements on a near daily basis have gotten it all wrong. It is the nation’s first African-American president who constantly speaks out against racism who is the true racist.

Developing policies to solve problems that disproportionately impact African-Americans and Hispanics is not racist. It’s called governing. Republicans are resorting the same defense of their racism that they have used for years.

Obama made them racist.

The Republican defense of Trump’s racism is as bigoted as it is pathetic.
