Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is expected to make her highly anticipated endorsement of Hillary Clinton within the next two weeks. The big news is that Warren is intrigued by the idea of being Hillary Clinton’s running mate.
Reuters reported:
Advisers to Warren, a fiery critic of Wall Street and a popular figure among progressive Democrats, have been in close contact with Clinton’s campaign team, and the conversations have increased in frequency in recent weeks, the sources said. Warren has signaled to people close to her that she is intrigued by the possibility of being Clinton’s No. 2 but has not discussed the role with Clinton, 68, or anyone else from her campaign, the people said.

An endorsement of Clinton could come within a week or two, one of the sources said. Clinton has been appealing for Democratic Party unity. On Twitter over the weekend, Warren echoed that call and emphasized the importance of the party coming together to beat Trump.
Sen. Warren’s two biggest concerns are that as a member of Clinton’s cabinet she would not have as a big of a platform for her progressive agenda, and she is concerned about the possibility that two women on the same ticket could harm the party’s chances of winning.
Elizabeth Warren occupies a unique space in American politics. She is progressive, but she is also within the establishment of the Democratic Party. Warren was always going to endorse the Democratic nominee. She is a member of the Senate Democratic leadership for a reason. Sen. Warren is both an establishment figure and a progressive, which means that she appeals to both wings of the left.
If she ran with Hillary Clinton, Warren could mainstream her progressive agenda, or she might get lost in the shuffle of a Clinton administration. The fact that her advisers are talking so closely with the Clinton campaigns suggests that something beyond an endorsement could be in the works.
Few elected officials work harder than Elizabeth Warren to get Democrats elected. If a Clinton/Warren ticket could win in November, it would cement the leftward shift that has transformed the Democratic Party during the Obama years, while also creating a historic dream ticket for the Democratic Party.
