Mitch McConnell Just Trashed Donald Trump And Gifted The Election To Democrats

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 07:04 pm

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell intentionally gifted the election to the Democratic Party by publicly admitting that Donald Trump knows nothing about the issues.

During an interview with Bloomberg Politics’ Masters in Politics podcast, McConnell said:

He needs someone highly experienced and very knowledgeable because it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t know a lot about the issues. You see that in the debates in which he’s participated. It’s why I have argued to him publicly and privately that he ought to use a script more often—there is nothing wrong with having prepared texts.

I said, ‘Hey Donald, you got a script?’ and he pulled it out of his pocket. He said, ‘You know I hate scripts, they’re so boring.’ And I said, ‘Put me down in favor of boring. You’ve demonstrated that you have a lot of Twitter followers and you’re good at turning on a big audience. Now you need to demonstrate you have the seriousness of purpose that is required to be president of the United States, and most candidates on frequent occasions use a script.’ So we’ll see whether that’s something he’s capable of doing.

In the same interview, the Senate Majority Leader admitted that Donald Trump doesn’t understand the issues and that the presumptive Republican nominee isn’t taking his campaign seriously. McConnell didn’t make these statements by accident.

The Republican Party wants Donald Trump to be boring because they are in the early stages of writing off the presidential race, and are already focusing on minimizing their losses in the House and Senate. McConnell said what he said on the off chance that Trump may follow his advice, but it is common knowledge that Trump doesn’t listen to anyone but himself.

McConnell’s comments were the first sign that if the Trump slide continues, Republicans may be willing to sacrifice the White House race to try to keep control of Congress. In other words, Senate Majority Leader McConnell just gifted the White House to Democrats in an attempt to save his Senate majority.

The reality is that McConnell’s attempt at damage control may result in Republicans losing House seats, control of the Senate, and the White House because voters will make the GOP pay for nominating Donald Trump.
