If Donald Trump were serious about expanding the electorate for the Republican Party, he would address the NAACP, but Trump isn’t serious. Donald Trump thinks that he has enough angry white (most men) to win the White House in November.
Trump is a coward who is afraid that by addressing the NAACP, he will alienate his racist supporters who have been the backbone of his campaign. Trump can’t take a chance on angering the neo-Nazis and white supremacists so he won’t be talking to the NAACP.
Donald Trump is shrinking the Republican Party down to its whitest and most extreme roots. Trump is no Reagan because Reagan was man enough to stand in front of a crowd that he knew wasn’t going to be overly warm towards him, and talk to them.
Mitt Romney’s speech to the NAACP convention in 2012 was a disaster, but again, at least Romney had the decency to show up.
By turning down the NAACP, Trump confirmed his racism. He also sent a loud and clear message to voters about why they should reject him in November.
